Appalled...with the service at the bar and terrace

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

The service in general at the bar, terrace & restaurant is appalling...even a little offensive......don't bother ..the wine menu was printed in 1990s and they bring you an alternative without asking you ..and when challenged they try and tell you the vintage is the same even though they are years apart ......they also have a limited time window on each table and ask you to leave even if you still have a bottle of wine to finish ...I've only had a similar experience in Albania ...that should tell you a lot .... vagabond next door is a much better choice ...

Great all rounder for business with great rooms, service & food.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

This hotel is an absolute charm in the middle of a bustling London. Super chic boutique style. Staff can't do enough for you. Lots of food options. Everything in the hotel is fairly close down no long trips down endless passage ways. I am away a lot on business so am a touch jaded but this breath of fresh air gives me a great bed, a good night's sleep, an exceptional breakfast & the service seems very personal. Easy to get anywhere by cab so the perfect hotel for business in London. I am also happy to bring clients to eat because the restaurant is extremely classy. Well done the team, you all deserve a huge round of applause.

Love Firmdales

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I had a recent stay here and had a good experience overall. This is a typical Firmdale property - typical in the sense that although each property has its own character and design elements overall, the room interiors feel almost identical. To that note, the rooms felt smaller in this location with either no view or a terrible view. I'm sure there are a handful of rooms that overlook Charlotte Street which would provide the best views of all the sides. The windows are large but no sense if nothing to look at. My room this time was on the smaller side - again as compared to other Firmdale properties like Covent Garden, Haymarket or Soho. The rooms tend to be very quiet with terrific sound baffling and the bathrooms are typically very welcoming and clean. My bathroom was tiny where you could practically sit on the toilet and wash your hands. Staff seem happy and are mostly informed. There is a bar and restaurant that gets super busy at all hours and they also offer a hospitality room with an honor bar and a screening room for ~75 (must book ahead). Firmdale highlights include the complimentary pillow mist (a favorite of mine!), clean/welcoming bathrooms with Kit Kemp wonderfully smelling products, perhaps the most comfortable overstuffed beds out there and just so beautifully appointed overall.

Overpriced, under delivered.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Very average. Overpriced and under delivered. Cocktails at £16/17 unfortunately did not live up to expectation when you finally got them. We felt sorry for the waiting team who were pleasant enough but the bar staff appeared more interested in chatting to each other. In a near empty bar on a Saturday night we waited at least 20 minutes for each drink. In sum, poorly managed and complacent attitude. I could have ordered a better gin and tonic at my local for a third of the price.

A really perfect experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 months ago

I have stayed in Firmdale Hotels and been in their restaurants in London and New York. It's been a while since I had lunch at The Charlotte Street Hotel here in London. It's really perfection -- the staff, service, food, everything -- right down to the china, which Kit Kemp designed. I had the most marvelous fluffy cheese croquettes as a starter, a perfect risotto as a main, and a dessert of bread and butter pudding with the most insanely fabulous toffee sauce ever! I highly recommend this gem of a hotel and restaurant located in such a central spot.
