Reviews for Corinthia London

Lovely in every way

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

I stayed here for 5 days on a work trip, it was my first time visiting, a really lovely hotel in every way. It is faultless and 5 star luxury through and through. The rooms were very spacious, extremely quiet from internal and outside noise. Lovely decor and have everything you would expect from a top level hotel. The shower experience was nothing less than the best shower I’ve had in a 5* hotel, it was like standing under a waterfall. All the staff were lovely and friendly, the food was delicious, the club sandwich was 8.5/10 the best I’ve tasted in London in recent years. Make sure you visit the piano bar in the evening, the ambience, decor and staff attention is like living in your very own James Bond Movie. Loved my stay! Thank you Corinthia!

Matthew our lovely waiter

On my girlfriend birthday I decided to offer her a tea time as a big lover of the Corinthia hotel. Matthew our server was very polite, friendly and thoughtful! Went above and beyond for us ! At the end of our tea time I explained him what we planned for my girlfriend birthday and out of nowhere came out of the kitchen with a little cake with a candle ! How sweet of him . I recently heard he got promoted as a sommelier and could be happier for him ! Keep up the good Work Matthew !

Excellent hotel, comfortable and great service

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. Super comfortable Trafalgar suite, quiet and elegant and like having my own private. And fantastic service, particularly the concierges. All around just a terrific stay. My one tiny complaint is the location. Whitehall is a sort of weird district and it's a hassle driving through Trafalgar Square to get anywhere in a taxi. OTOH it's also a great location for walking to Covent Garden or SoHo or many other central spots.

Overhyped

I booked a table at the Wintergarden having seen it on a Channel 4 documentary. The documentary positioned this hotel as being extremely upmarket, with faultless service and beautiful interiors, however I must say I was slightly underwhelmed…. Upon entering the lobby bar area to get to the wintergarden restaurant all I could focus on was how grey and boring the interiors were. It just lacks the refinement of other 5 star london hotels. The giant round chandelier in the main foyer restaurant is very tacky and looks like something you would find in an upmarket shopping centre. The wintergarden is very nice (not quite as nice as was portrayed in the documentary however). The welcome drink was delicious, as was the pretzel and dip, this made me excited for the meal. We ordered a fondue, raclette and chicken. The fondue was tasty but was served with a few token bits of focaccia, a thousand cornichons and a handful or unevenly sliced pieces of lardon that were incredibly salty and so dry they could have been used as door stoppers. My friend gave me a taste of her raclette which just seemed a bit meh. The fiancés chicken was incredibly tough (which is odd as he watched the other table send back a piece of chicken which was completely pink in the middle - queue gasps from the waiter). The thing that really surprised me about our lunch was how poor the service was. It was practically non existent, we had to chase down the waiter to get our drinks etc. they just vanished completely. Overall a three star for the nice atmosphere and welcome drinks etc but this place could do so much better. I won’t be retuning.

Disappointed

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

My friend & I visited the Corinthia for the first time a few months ago & had a drink in The Velvet Room which was lovely. We liked it so much that we decided to return to try the Afternoon Tea which my husband bought for my birthday. We were shown to a table which was around the main larger table in the middle of the room. It was quite uncomfortable to sit at as you couldn’t put your legs under the table so had to sit to the side of it. The food was good but when I asked for more tea, it was poured into my already half filled cup of cold tea. I expected to be asked if I wanted a fresh cup but wasn’t given the option. After our Afternoon Tea we thought we’d finish off with a glass of wine in The Velvet Room, only to find out it was closed on a Monday! I have been for quite a few Afternoon Teas & was a bit disappointed by this 5* hotel.
