Corinthia London

We chose Corinthia for NYE as we have stayed many times before & thought it would be a great opportunity to welcome the New Year & see the fireworks. We couldn’t get a room so booked the NYE early menu in Mezzogiorno. A hefty £450 before drinks. We asked for a late table (£880!) but nothing available. I asked if they could call me if one did as we were flying into London that afternoon & would suit us better. Arrived at restaurant at 6 to be immediately informed, you wanted a late table, we have one, would you prefer. No, we were already dressed & ready just to sit around 2hrs & pay double, made no sense. Restaurant was FREEZING, people sitting eating with big coats on & I had to ask for mine back from cloakroom. Not ideal NYE sitting in your coat. The food - not good. Starter missing some elements, told the waiter & he brought on side plate. Main ok, dessert was the worst I’ve ever had. One taste & left untouched. Was basically a toasted loaf and pungent custard. My partner had one spoonful of his & could not eat it either. Plenty of seats & people were able to order pizza.. would have been much nicer that £400 unappetizing food. This wasn’t an option for us? Moved to Velvet for drinks, asked to sit at bar as tables were taken, they weren’t as the people we got chatting to at the tables later had just walked in. Velvet was also FREEZING cold. So not what you need when paying a premium for cocktails. Staff were good. Band in Velvet were the savior. Best thing about the visit. Very underwhelmed with whole experience. Good location right outside to see the fireworks.

Corinthia is unmatched. The four bedroom penthouse suite is amazing for large groups. Beatriz is phenomenal. Elvyra and Amajla, the butlers, were perfection. Sahil and the concierges and staff are all top notch. Whatever we needed, we got, including incredible assistance getting Christmas presents to the hotel and wrapped and ready for our family. The Spa is absolutely phenomenal with an incredible space and technicians. My only minor comment is the in room dining food at dinnertime wasn't the best. But everything else was perfect. We will happily return and recommend over and over.

I visited Velvet Bar for New Year’s Eve, and unfortunately, it was a tale of two very different experiences. While the logistics and atmosphere were handled well, the culinary side of the evening was a major letdown. The Food: To put it bluntly, the meal was awful and did not meet the standards expected for a holiday set menu. The Lobster: It was incredibly soft/mushy and contained almost no meat. The Chicken: The deep-fried chicken arrived raw in the center—a serious health concern. The Dessert: Advertised as profiteroles with ice cream, what we actually received was dry pastry filled with plain whipped cream. There was no effort put into the presentation or the "ambiance" of the plate. The saving grace of the night was the live music, it was excellent and kept the energy up. Additionally, the location for the fireworks was perfect; we had a fantastic view of the show. It seems we paid a premium price almost exclusively for the seat and the view. If you are going just for the music and the fireworks, the location is great—but based on this experience, I cannot recommend it for the food.

There is no other words to describe our experience at Corinthia than to say it was perfection in every way and truly, truly special. From the moment we left our car with the excellent valet parking team and was swept through the beautiful reception to check in and shown to our stylish room the whole experience was seamless, warm, tranquil and luxurious. The hotel itself is stunningly beautiful but what really separates this and makes it in my opinion as the best luxury hotel we have ever stayed in was the team and people working here. The service was impeccable and every single person spent time getting to know you on a personal level. It is not an exaggeration to say that we felt like VIPs throughout our entire stay. We felt truly and utterly taken care of and part of the Corinthia family. Treats and surprises were presented throughout our stay, needs anticipated before they were asked. Suffice to say we never wanted to leave which is why we stayed an additional night. We have stayed in luxury hotels all over the world but the Corinthia in our view is the pinnacle of hospitality. It is rare to have this level of consistency. Now we need to emphasise every single team member was incredible and the hotel should be so proud of the team as they are all a credit to your brand. We would like to make a very special mention to Scott in the Crystal lounge who was incredible. The words which come to mind to describe Scott’s service was warm, kind, friendly, incredibly attentive, and ultimately outstanding, professional 5 star service. Scott went above and beyond to make sure every one of our needs was taken care of (whether spoken or anticipated). It is not an understatement to say he was exceptional in every way so thank you Scott for making our stay so special. You are an absolute credit to the hotel. We must also note other members of your team who again made our stay special which includes (sorry if we have misspelt names): 1) Mateo at the Northal bar took really good care of us, made brilliant drinks and was warm, attentive and friendly. All the team at the Northal bar provided fantastic 5 star service and we loved spending time there. Thank you all. 2) Aga is absolutely lovely, friendly and again spent time getting to know us. She was so warm and attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Thank you Aga. 3) Karina the hotel manager went above and beyond and exceeded our expectations. Karina is warm, engaging and kind. Thank you so much Karina you really did make sure our stay was so special. 4) Sahil from the concierge team anticipated our needs before we even knew we needed the requirement and was incredibly friendly with warm, great service. 5) Mohammad provided great service in the Garden restaurant and advised fantastic recommendations from the menu. 6) The team at Mezzogiorno made our visit so special. The service was impeccable and the food perfect. Thank you all. 7) Marco made sure everything was perfect during our stay, again five star service. 8) Kevin Lee the pianist. What an amazing and talented musician he is. Was a pleasure to listen to him play throughout our Christmas stay, he made it magical and was so friendly and engaging. As we cannot list all names above this part is now to the entire Corinthia team from management, to the cleaning teams, concierge, Northal Bar, the Crystal Chandelier lounge team, Garden Restaurant, Kerridges bar and grill breakfast team and Mezzogiorno thank you so much for making our stay truly special. It is not an exaggeration to say we will now be customers for life and will be returning as often as we possibly can. Please never change, you cannot improve on perfection and your hotel should be used as an example to others. We cannot wait to see you all again soon.
