Dukes Hotel in London, England

Tucked into a tiny alleyway off St. James' Place, Dukes Hotel is quintessential Britain – it dates from 1908, but the interior is modern and the atmosphere is convivial. Impressive oil paintings and dark antique furniture preside alongside brightly upholstered settees, and beds are renowned for being incredibly comfortable. You’ll want to down one of the martinis at Dukes Bar, said to be the inspiration behind James Bond's request for "shaken, not stirred."

Ask the doorman to direct you to the secret entrance of Green Park. Wander amid magical greenery and unpack a picnic basket of quiche and summery greens. Return for Gin and Tonic Afternoon Tea in the parlour, an affair that deliciously fuses two British traditions. Top off the evening meal with a Cuban cigar and glass of cognac in the secluded garden lounge.

Dukes is like the best country hotel transported to Mayfair with a killer cocktail bar added. This was our second stay and I must have let slip that it was my wife's birthday... how else to explain the bottle of fizz and cake sent to the room after our arrival... compliments of the management.

Needless to say the location was the best. For such an old building with the history, it was very nicely remodeled. It was overall very good experience. Dahae was very great at the check in, she gave me a tour of the hotel, which was very helpful. She was very sweet, leaving me a note at the last day. All staffs were great and very responsive as well. I felt like i was really taken good care of the while time. Would strongly recommend!

The hotel and personable service is amazing. I have been to the DUKES hotel a number of times and the standard is always 5*. The restaurant food is excellent and the service especially from Deborah within the restaurant is always outstanding. She made me feel at home, my coat fell on the ground and before I was able to pick it up she had it clutched in her arms. The team are great and are always courteous. Cannot wait to go back!

The hotel was fine. Good location, polite service. The rooms were clean if a bit smaller than pictured. The after hours meals were not good. There was no one to make the food the night we arrived and this was disappointing. Generally, this is a perfectly acceptable option.

Great Hotel that we will definitely return to. All staff were very attentive and wanting to make our stay memorable. Breakfast was great as all served rather than being buffet style. There was really nothing that I would criticise about the whole experience.
