Dukes Hotel in London, England

Tucked into a tiny alleyway off St. James' Place, Dukes Hotel is quintessential Britain – it dates from 1908, but the interior is modern and the atmosphere is convivial. Impressive oil paintings and dark antique furniture preside alongside brightly upholstered settees, and beds are renowned for being incredibly comfortable. You’ll want to down one of the martinis at Dukes Bar, said to be the inspiration behind James Bond's request for "shaken, not stirred."

Ask the doorman to direct you to the secret entrance of Green Park. Wander amid magical greenery and unpack a picnic basket of quiche and summery greens. Return for Gin and Tonic Afternoon Tea in the parlour, an affair that deliciously fuses two British traditions. Top off the evening meal with a Cuban cigar and glass of cognac in the secluded garden lounge.

We stayed here for three nights. The staff couldn’t have more pleasant and helpful. The bed was lovely and so comfortable but quite soft. My only negative comment would be that perhaps they could put nightlights in the bathroom. When nature calls in the night, you have to turn on the bathroom lights from the outside so that the whole room is lit up.

Hotel is well located tucked away in Mayfair. It is the one and only hotel I have ever been to that does not have an area to sit and relax, have a coffee or a drink. There is a lounge and a bar but they have to be booked well in advance. Both are tiny and fill up quickly mostly from people outside the hotel. This is a big no-no, after all how do you know what time you will gt back to the hotel after a busy day and you just want a drink or a cup of tea? Overall the staff were not up to the job. Lots of plausible answers but don't really translate to action for customers. Mammoth task to get simply things done ( a family meal), a cup of coffee to the room. It appears that the GBR - restaurant and the bar are separate entities ran independently to the hotel which leaves the experience disjointed. Normal rooms are tiny and you need to consider one of the larger rooms to have space to walk around the bed and put a case on the floor. Should have been great and after reading the reviews previously we were looking forward to the experience, sadly it did not translate.

I generally book a night or two at a variety of hotels in London when I have to come in for business. Recently spent a week night (Thursday) at Dukes Hotel and its one of the best I've stayed at thus far. Staff are very professional, the hotel is run like a tight and fast ship, and I very much enjoy that. Room was fantastic, nice minibar as well as nice bathroom. The only meal I had was the early breakfast, plentiful and loads of healthy options. Very good option for a few nights in London without a doubt.

The Staff was delightful and very accommodating. The Food and service was amazing! Trushna, the events manager was professional and efficient. She provided excellent service and worked with me to achieve the evening i wanted (if not better) within my budget. I will be recommending Dukes London to all friends and family!

Dukes is like the best country hotel transported to Mayfair with a killer cocktail bar added. This was our second stay and I must have let slip that it was my wife's birthday... how else to explain the bottle of fizz and cake sent to the room after our arrival... compliments of the management.
