Just simply excellent. Would recommend just as an experience if nothing else. Great service right throughout. Trushna in events planning was amazing. We got late arriving but everything was setup and organised so well. Very impressed. Thanks.

I am really sorry to give only 3 stars to this hotel especially because people were nice and we were upgraded but really this hotel is totally overpriced. I know that we are in London especially in mayfair but even if we were in Mayfair I felt that the quality of the room was not good according to the price I paid... and honestly when they told me we were upgraded I can t imagine what room we would have had if we have not been upgraded... we slept very badly it was too hot in the room and even if I opened the window it was quite impossible to sleep. The room is clean but very small and old fashion, the chair was dirty, the bathroom is ok for a London standard. Even when we were asked if our experience was good and we said that we didn t sleep well because of the heat, we were just offer a complimentary coffee or water... there was only water in the minibar and for the amount we paid breakfast was not even included... it was very good but again we had to pay. Over all I can t say the hotel is bad especially when considering the other option in London but the quality price ratio is poor.

We visited the cocktail lounge while waiting for a dinner reservation near buy. First off the cocktails are excellent and the service is top notch. If you're looking for a great place to have a cocktail Dukes is definitely worth looking into. Beware, the drinks are not for amateurs.

On a work colleague's recommendation, decided to try an alternate hotel on my regular work trips to London - particularly with my wife's work trip overlapping with mine this time, wanted a more differentiated experience than usual City corporate stay. Our time at Duke's started well enough - though was a bit taken aback when no porter offered to help take our luggage up to our room. The elevator was tiny and the room small even by London standards - fine we let it be. The martini at the bar was excellent (and is the main reason why this review is 2 rather than 1 star). That's about it for neutral/positives ... the second night, a/c didn't work. We called the front desk - she said they were having issues with many a/c's and would we mind having a fan instead - ok, fine, chalk it down to the "romanticism" of a Victorian era building, sure - we will use a fan. 30 mins pass ... call again - "oh nobody has been up to your room yet" .. no ... "we will send someone up right away". Another 15 mins, another call .. mind you, it is now quite late at night (past 11) and we both have to be up quite early for work. Another 10 mins and now I go down to the front desk in my pajamas - "we will send it right up" ... no am staying till i get the fan .. "fine" ... 15 mins ... am standing there in the middle of the lounge in my pajamas with guests walking around and hotel staff just plain ignoring me. I try engaging another staff member (the first one is studiously punching away at the computer for last 15 mins) - just ignores me and walks away. Repeat experience with another. Exasperated I accost a fourth and ask "are you just going to walk away?" .. nope, I don't deserve a reply. It's a bit comic, no? Maybe I should add another star to the review. Ok so I finally get the fan ... I take it and start walking up the stairs - no offer to help me carry it up to the room - should be used to it by now, no? Next night (tonight) a/c still not working (when entering hotel overheard another guest complaining "you said you will send someone up 3 hours ago" ... ahhh it's not us, it's them!) .... Wife calls down thrice asking for someone to come and check (since all the a/c's were supposed to be fixed by now) ... nobody is here, and I don't feel like being the entertainer to staff a second night - will start having a reputation around here. C'est la vie I guess. My work, my travel agent, my co-workers, my wife's work, her travel agent, her co-workers will all enjoy having a good laugh with us about this .. at whose expense?

I really can't praise the staff at Dukes highly enough for my wonderful stay there. When I arrived Andra greeted me and gave me a lovely tour of the hotel. Ruel and Ian were so helpful and kind with restaurants and other reservations. The entire staff was genuinely kind and friendly and always wanted to make sure I was comfortable. Breakfast at GBR, the in house restaurant was a treat every day. The famous martinis in the bar are well worth their famous reputation. Afternoon tea in the drawing room was elegant and delicious. I experienced the best hot stone massage I've ever had in the spa. I stayed in the junior suite which was rather large for London with a separate sitting area and a nice balcony. The room was very comfortable and well appointed. The house keeping staff was attentive yet discreet. Every day around noon a fresh bowl of fruit with tea biscuits was delivered to my room. A lovely extra included in the room price. I also ordered room service a few times which was delicious, delivered very promptly and always served on an elegant try with flowers. The area around Dukes is also quiet as it is tucked into a small side street in Saint James. But the hotel's location is also within convenient walking distance of museums, restaurants, bookshops, theaters. etc. If you want the best London has to offer then Dukes is a must! I will visit as often as I can.
