Dukes Hotel in London, England

Tucked into a tiny alleyway off St. James' Place, Dukes Hotel is quintessential Britain – it dates from 1908, but the interior is modern and the atmosphere is convivial. Impressive oil paintings and dark antique furniture preside alongside brightly upholstered settees, and beds are renowned for being incredibly comfortable. You’ll want to down one of the martinis at Dukes Bar, said to be the inspiration behind James Bond's request for "shaken, not stirred."

Ask the doorman to direct you to the secret entrance of Green Park. Wander amid magical greenery and unpack a picnic basket of quiche and summery greens. Return for Gin and Tonic Afternoon Tea in the parlour, an affair that deliciously fuses two British traditions. Top off the evening meal with a Cuban cigar and glass of cognac in the secluded garden lounge.

Visited today for afternoon tea with a voucher from Travelzoo that included a glass of Prosecco for Ā£25 each. The tea is served in the drawing room which has a lovely ambience and comfy sofas and there is a small but varied choice of teas. The cake stand was delivered with a smile by our lovely waitress and was crammed with a choice of tasty sandwiches and scrummy cakes. The fresh scones were warm and served with clotted cream and jam. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Well worth a visit.

I visited last week Dukes Hotel with the Time Out offer for Afternoon Tea. We were waiting little bit when we arrived at the reception and we were unsure what is going on. Later the waitress arrived to pick up us and we are accommodated at very pleasant and cosy place. It felt like we are on visit at house of friends. It was really very nice offer with great Afternoon Tea and glass of champagne. We enjoyed sandwiches, cakes and scones which were very delicious. They have also nice tea selection which is simple but the most important is there. We were served by nice and friendly staff. It was great deal and I love to come back soon.

There is nothing wrong with the hotel itself, lovely & traditional. Just little things I expected from this quality of hotel and especially on a previous stay everything were excellent. No welcome note from the manager! No tea/coffee making service in room The mini bar was not re filled Noisy air con unit outside room, stopped at 1am and had restarted by 6am Room wifi couldn't connect. No service, guest hotspot came and went. Breakfast service slow Plus point - the bed was extremely comfortable

I have stayed rarely but always was excellent. The big draw is literally the best Martini in the world. Been drinking them there for thirty one years no less...Travel the world and do not waste my time or money drinking them anywhere else...Allesandro and his team inherited and continue to keep up the reputation of this Icon...Best to you all...i will be back...I must try the Martini's at Duke's Dubai.....Be well ' A '....

We spent last Sunday here for a lovely Afternoon Tea. Already booking the date was a pleasure - such a friendly call. After arriving and a bit of a glitch with the reservation (was solved immediately) we met our very pleasant and joyful waitress. A beautiful set table was waiting for us, every detail made you feel welcome. Food, tea and champagne were delicious. Recommendation (we got the same from the waitress); start on top with the food as it is plenty and you hardly won't make it. It was an exceptional experience and I hope we can repeat it the next time we are in London.
