The Egerton House Hotel in London, England

The pair of red brick townhouses that make up The Egerton House Hotel stands on 17th Century land that the alderman of London entrusted to slaves being held by Turkish pirates. A string of colorful characters inhabited the mansions through the decades, and remnants of history remain in each uniquely decorated room. Elaborate padded headboards, brocaded fabrics and original antiques combine to create an ambiance that is both stately and welcoming.

Admire Picasso and Matisse originals while enjoying a full English breakfast. Meet the chauffeur arranged by high-end personal shoppers Hiscox Mavroleon who will be escorting you by Bentley to the finest boutiques on Brompton Road. Splurge at Harrods. As others have stated, this is a small, very traditional English feeling hotel, a nice change from characterless chain towers. The location is excellent, very close to V & A, Natural History and Science Museums, Harrods is also very close (too close:)!), the South Kensington underground stop is a 5 minute walk, and Brompton Road offers many restaurants, stores and amenities. But the hotel itself sits on a fairly quiet block just off the main road. The staff is also excellent, very helpful with directions, a bottle of water, recommendations, etc. The rooms, while not large, were nicely appointed and in very good condition. I would recommend the Egerton House confidently...

We booked this hotel months ago for our July vacation after seeing the reviews and photos on TA. We were not disappointed!!! On arrival, we were warmly greeted by Alex at reception and Michelle, the General Manager. Our room was #10. It looked out over the front of the property onto a quiet street so street noise was never an issue. It was a delightful room...not big but comfortable and well appointed. We ate breakfast twice and the staff was spectacular as was the food. They even offered my favorite breakfast food of whole grain toast with avocado and poached eggs. Yum. Overall, this is one of the best values in London especially if you don't want to stay in a big, impersonal national chain. It's a lovely jewel of a hotel and sited just a few blocks from Harrods. We look forward to coming back in the near future. The Speakers

This hotel is like coming home to your own very gorgeous townhouse in one of Londons most upmarket areas. It's a very small hotel with thoughtful touches for the traveller such as a range of snacks available at the front desk that you can take with you to fuel your London adventures. The staff are exceptional - more like welcoming family. The service is excellent and very down to earth - not pretentious but warm and helpful. The highlight really is the bar man Esly who really does do the best martini! We also loved our morning chats with Tunde at breakfast. One warning - in typical London style, the rooms are very tiny.

Another fantastic stay at the Egerton House Hotel. I find the staff so attentive and helpful, and the hotel is situated in one of the best spots in London. Will be back in a few months for another visit

Our first trip to London did not disappoint and the Egerton House Hotel & staff was a big part of the reason why we had such a great experience. Not only was the staff warm and welcoming, they also helped two novice international travelers get around town (and out of town to Liverpool and back) and made us feel comfortable from the minute we stepped through the door. Accommodations were first rate, especially if you are looking for a more intimate, B&B type vibe. Great location - in the heart of it all but still feels private. Close to great shopping and all major tourist spots either by foot or a quick walk to the underground. Can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay. You won't go wrong with the Egerton!
