We just spent four nights at the Landmark. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. Location: The hotel is an old railway hotel built in about 1915. As such, it is a stone's throw from Marylebone station, perfect for the tube and a train. We left London to Oxford and it could not have been easier. Wheeled our bags right onto the train and were in Oxford an hour later. Check if you are traveling that your train goes through Marylebone however. Many do not. The area itself is a ritzy quarter of London. Check in: We arrived around 11 pm as our plane was late. No doorman and no one to take our bags. They did not even offer at check in to assist us until we asked. Not great for a Leading Hotel. And I noted the rugs in the entrance and elevator were stained. However, all was made up for when we got an upgrade to a suite. It was our 25th but also we had joined Leading Hotels. This is part of the membership benefits. Even more forgiven when we entered our room and saw two towel swans on the bed which was strewn with imitation rose petals. In the living room were flowers, complementary fruit and chocolate strawberries. WOW!! ( I think they comped us wine also but we did not notice it until too late) The Room: We were in a Marlyebone Suite overlooking a quiet side street. It was magnificent. A large living room with a now defunct fireplace, a large bedroom, separated from the living room by folding opaque glass doors and a bathroom with a separate soaking tub, walk in shower, dressing area with double sinks and a separate toilet area. All white/grey marble. There was an adequate shelf near the sinks for cosmetics. The bed was super comfortable and there was a dresser with at least 6 drawers and room in the night tables. A nice sized safe and a full mini bar in the living room. Unlike the entrance to the hotel, the room was in mint condition. Service: Uneven. As said, no offer for bag assistance on arrival. The young man who eventually did take up our bags did not really show us the room. The lights were complicated. We could not figure out how to keep the bedroom dark if one of us wanted to sleep and the other wanted to be in living room reading. I called the second night but they sent the same person up again. With my husband trying to sleep, he just kept on switching the master on and off , lighting up the whole place. The third night, they offered to send him again and I got really annoyed. Finally, on our last full day, an engineer came up and showed us the simple trick. Turn on the master in the front entrance and then close the bedroom lights. We were doing the opposite. Housekeeping was good but no turn down service, if I remember correctly. Concierge: Got a good tip re a walking tour but on the dinner suggestion, felt we did not get the best advice. Do your own research. Food: We had what they call a continental breakfast included because of the membership. Normally, it is 28 pounds or about 50 Cdn each. For 6 pounds more you can supplement that with eggs, pancakes etc. off the menu. Breakfast is in the beautiful Winter Garden restaurant. Just walking up the stairs into that room is an experience. And the continental is salads, cheeses, meats, hard boiled eggs, lovely mousses in pudding cups, breads, pastries, fruit... We only ordered eggs once and regretted it because we were so full. My eggs were also very rubbery but maybe because I asked for them well done. The continental was delicious. WiFi: Excellent and lots of easy places, like the desk, to plug in your electronics. But again, we had it free because of the membership. Otherwise, there is a charge. Value: For our trip, unbelievable. Our 3 nights for 4 rate meant we paid about $486 Cdn (if you are American, deduct about 30%) for a 600+ sq. ft. suite in a great location in London. Joining Leading Hotels added about $50 per day for a huge breakfast and WIFI. Return: Definitely!!

Beautiful hotel. It is worth its 5*. I'm very picky with customer service and this hotel is thought was truly fabulous. I also liked the way that all staff looked "The part" They all wore very smart uniform and we're all well groomed. I loved the way the rooms have individual air con. This is great for me as I'm always hot. The bath was very deep and a great size. Breakfast was really good and a lovely location for a restaurant.

What a wonderful place for lunch! The setting in the stunning atrium is wonderful, the food was excellent and lunch is very good value for money too. Thanks to the manager, Martin, and his excellent staff for a very memorable experience. My friend and I were absolutely delighted! I highly recommend the Landmark.

I took my daughter here for her 26th birthday for afternoon tea. Starting with me e mailing ahead to request no egg sandwiches as neither of us like eggs and also for plains scones.. Alexeeva replied promptly and made arrangements for our request. The setting is simply stunning! The blue sky shone through the wonderful high atrium and we felt like we were in our own little heaven. The tables, the crockery just everything was gorgeous! The staff are all excellent! George was our waiter and what a professional warm young man he was. All of the staff we encountered were full of charm and were so helpful taking photographs, bringing more sandwiches and so on. The selection of teas is fabulous - we had English breakfast, Darjeeling and mango. The sandwiches were scrumptious, we had coronation chicken, a cream cheese with red peppers, smoked salmon and a cucumber. The staff keep coming around the tables and offering you more.. The scones were warm with a generous dollop of clotted cream and you could choose two jams. We chose the apricot and the gooseberry with elderflower. Both were delicious! On to the cakes, we had a light macaroon with pistachio cream mmmmm, a chocolate cup with caramel and chocolate inside, a fruit cake with white chocolate on top and my favourite was the mini lemon meringue... delicious ! George then brought over a fairy cake with a candle on and beautiful chocolate writing on the plate. I have been to many afternoon teas but the Landmark is the one to beat! Thank you, everything was spot on, I will be returning to try your brunch.

We really enjoyed our stay whilst celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary and a milestone birthday, in particular the discrete but attentive service from the staff. We love the calm airiness of the atrium.
