Reviews for The Landmark London

Great, but ...

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 22 hours ago

My wife and I booked the Festive Package for a two night stay in December 2025. Our room was a beautiful and spacious Executive room overlooking the Winter Garden. Housekeeping was very good. The food in the Winter Garden was of a very good quality experienced with both an evening meal and breakfast. There were, however, queues at breakfast on the Monday morning, with staff struggling to maintain service levels. As part of the Festive Package we were supposed to receive popcorn with which to watch a festive movie, but this didn't happen. It was however quickly remedied by the front desk. The package also included a cocktail voucher to be used in the Mirror Bar. We intended to use this on Monday night. Unfortunately we were not informed that the Mirror Bar was closed on Mondays. We enquired at the front desk who changed the voucher for use in the Great Central Pub. We were looking forward to our Festive cocktail as an intrinsic part of our package, expecting a choice of delicious beverages. We were thus extremely disappointed to find that our cocktail would be a mulled wine, no exceptions. Needless to say we declined this. The most disappointing aspect was that we brought this to the attention of the front desk on two separate occasions, at the time and at checkout, with the promise that a manger would contact me to discuss. As yet no response. This may seem a trivial matter but when you are looking forward to aspects of your package and they are not provided I would expect a 5 star response. Overall, the Landmark was lovely and we enjoyed our stay. We would certainly recommend the hotel but the detail is important to make a good experience unforgettable.

A Magical Festive Stay in an Iconic London Landmark

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

From the moment you enter The Landmark, you immediately know where you are. It is a fact that this is one of the most iconic hotels in London. While it is not as flashy or bling-bling as some newer luxury properties, it has a unique, timeless sense of luxury that sets it apart from more “basic” five-star hotels. Upon arrival at reception, we were welcomed with a glass of champagne for the adults and orange juice for the kids, a very thoughtful touch that you do not see everywhere these days. We also appreciated the delicious welcome cookies in the room, which were excellent and a lovely detail. We visited during the New Year period and the hotel was almost fully booked, yet everything felt well managed. The Christmas decorations were beautiful, with a red theme throughout, and the atmosphere truly felt magical, like being in a festive wonderland. The huge atrium is undoubtedly the heart and soul of the hotel. It feels like a complete escape from city life and is the most impressive and unique space in the property. Simply walking through it is a wow moment. Our room felt slightly dated, but it still carried that old-world luxury charm. I would not say it needs a full renovation, but to compete with other top hotels today, it would definitely benefit from a refresh. I have seen on social media that the signature suites have already been updated, and ideally all rooms should eventually follow the same style. I am not sure if renovations are being done gradually. The spa and pool area is where the hotel shows its age the most. The carpet in the basement, where the spa is located, looks like it has been there for many years, while the rest of the hotel has already been updated. The spa itself is good, and the pool is a lovely amenity, with a jacuzzi and sauna. The jacuzzi temperature was perfect for winter, but the pool felt a bit too cool for such a cold season in London. It feels more suited to spring. The pool area would benefit from renovation, including new chairs and a more modern feel. I noticed on the hotel website that the spa will close on the 5th of January for a significant renovation, which is great news. The absolute star of the show was breakfast at the Winter Garden beneath the atrium. It is easily one of the best breakfast buffets I have experienced in London. The setting is stunning, the variety is excellent, and the quality is outstanding. The croissants deserve a special mention. In my opinion, they are some of the best I have ever had, even better than many famous palace hotel breakfasts we tried in Paris. A big shoutout to the pastry chef, especially for the pain au chocolat. A very special thank you to the concierge team. Staying during New Year’s Eve and the end of the festive season can be challenging, but they were exceptional. They helped us secure restaurant reservations, tickets to Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, rides, and advised us on where to watch the iconic New Year’s Eve fireworks near the London Eye. A special thank you to Mandar, Mo, and Sanjiv. Truly one of the best concierge teams. The only real downside for us was the location. While Marylebone Station is literally across the street, the hotel feels somewhat detached from the main action of the city. Almost everything is at least a 15-minute walk away, and with kids during such a busy season, we found ourselves relying heavily on taxis. There is not much within a comfortable 5 to 10-minute walking distance compared to other hotels in the same category. Even Marylebone High Street is about a 20-minute walk. We have seen complimentary house car services offered by many hotels in London these days, whether they are in average or excellent locations, and this is something that could really elevate the experience here. A house car connecting guests to key areas like Regent Street, Mayfair, or Harrods would help resolve the location problem and significantly improve the overall stay. Overall, The Landmark is a beautiful, iconic hotel with a unique atmosphere, exceptional breakfast, and outstanding service. This hotel could easily earn a 5/5, but for me, location is very important, which is why I am rating it 4/5.
