Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London

Stayed 3 nights for business and experienced great service. Had a wonderful dinner at the hotel and the waiter in the bar from Hong Kong was the best. Staff at the door and concierge could be a bit better. Not attentive and / or friendly. More people than in other hotels seemed to be watching loud video's on their phones. But they were adressed about their behaviour, excellent! That's how it should be.

We had a beautiful experience staying in the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park London for a long weekend. The service was impeccable (shout out to Dennis and Cherif!), the room was unbelievably beautiful and the location is amazing. Hands down the best hotel in London! - S&J

Ive stayed in this hotel 30+ times. Never had a complaint. But it’s been a few years and maybe there is a reason the hotel is ranked 200+ in London. We booked and paid for Hyde Park rooms for five nights, five weeks before arrival. They never mentioned there would be a wedding directly below us. For some reason, they felt it was ok to put my 91 year old mother in room 224 DIRECTLY above the wedding DANCE FLOOR. I was in 324. I could hear the music thumping and pounding til midnight. They could have put wedding guests in the room or warned us. Better yet, they should not sell those rooms. They did not offer to change our rooms telling us there was no availability, until we complained three times. By that time my mom was in her pajamas and not moving. The hotel manager Charles Aird made some pathetic response the next day about “availability, inventory pressures, or any other operational conditions.” Clearly they knew about the wedding months before, and still chose to put us in those two rooms. With no warning. With no offer to move us. And his first offer was simply to comp a two night stay. Why would I ever go back? He finally agreed to a refund for the last night. But he didnt offer it. This hotel clearly prioritizes greed over customer service. And we had almost stayed at the Connaught, but I changed to the Mandarin because I thought the rooms would be more cheerful. Shame on me.

Afternoon tea not so great Had afternoon tea in the rosebury room yesterday. Having afternoon tea in London is an annual event for my friend and I have, having done the Savoy, Claridges, Fortnum and Mason, the Ritz. This did not feel special at all. We were seated fairly quickly but a lovely lady in the desk. Fairly Quickly asked for water and initial tea choice. That was the best of the service. The food was"ok". Sandwiches were nice, the cakes not so nice. Scones very light, warm, however for 3 people 1 small container of cream, 2 half filled with raspberry and strawberry jam. No where near enough for 3 people. At no point were we offered tea refill, tea was bagged not loose. Not a big deal how've the whole time we only had 1 small pot per person, no milk or hot water. We were left for long periods without any service at all. Overall very disappointed with this experience and not good value for the near £100 price tag.
