Fabulous stay

We stayed here for a weekend trip to London for our daughters 18th and sons 16th. We had booked a double exec room with river view for myself and husband and a twin exec for our children. We had requested the rooms to be as close together as possible, they were not next door but they were along the same corridor a few doors down so was absolutely fine. We arrived earlier than check in and was pleasantly surprised to find 1 of the rooms was ready early so we were able to put all our things in there whilst we went off exploring. The rooms were exactly what we expected, a bit of luxury, comfortable, everything you need, plenty of space and a sweet touch in the kids room, they arrived to find some cake in there for their birthdays. We had booked breakfast. There was plenty of choice and the food was fine, it was quite busy, but I think that was partly our timing and had we have gone down earlier it probably wouldn't have been as bad. We did find some elements ran out allot but these were soon replaced. It was a little bit noisy and hectic in there, but it was a nice room and view at certain tables and it was quite adequate. My son and husband used the gym and said it was perfectly fine. We ordered room service both evenings and that was lovely and wonderful service. The hotel is a 20 mins walk along into the main southbank area opposite Big Ben, so is an ideal location, it's also about a 15 min walk from vauxhall tube station and it took less than half hour on the tube from St pancras. Overall this was a wonderful stay, lovely staff and would definitely return.

Lovely hotel, disappointing experience

We’ve stayed at your hotel three times now, booking directly each time and signing up to your rewards programme rather than using third-party sites. We assumed that booking direct and repeat custom would be valued, but based on this stay, that doesn’t appear to be the case. The main issue was that the heating in our room didn’t work at any point during our stay. We were on floor 11 and spoke to guests on floor 9 with the same problem, so this was clearly not isolated. After raising it, an engineer attended but couldn’t resolve the issue. A small plug-in heater was later delivered to our room while we were out, but it hadn’t been plugged in, so we returned to a freezing room again. It also wasn’t made clear at booking that our original room would have an internal view. Given the price, this was disappointing, and we paid to upgrade and move rooms as a result. The facilities were underwhelming for a hotel positioned at this level. The pool is very small for a property of this size and feels more like a box-ticking exercise, and the sauna wasn’t hot enough to break a sweat. Breakfast was average, and we weren’t offered eggs or pancakes — we only realised these were available by seeing other guests with them. Service was inconsistent. Staff couldn’t confirm our pool booking time, so we had to walk down to check in person. When our room key failed, customer service couldn’t cut a replacement and we had to queue at reception behind guests checking out, despite there being several staff present. The room itself was lovely, but lacked some basic practical details. There was nowhere to hang towels to dry and no heated towel rail. On the first night our bathrobes were removed and not replaced. We were staying in a family suite with our son, yet everything was set up for two people — no robe or slippers for him, not enough towels, and only two bottles of water replenished daily despite an additional bed being made up. Despite this being our third stay, there was no acknowledgement of our repeat custom. Finally, check-in continues to be baffling. As everything was prepaid, it feels like it should be quick and straightforward, but it’s consistently slow and overcomplicated. When we queried the room due to it not matching the website photos or clearly stating the lack of an external view, availability checks appeared to be handled manually rather than via a system, which was surprising. Overall, while there’s a lot to like about the hotel, too many basic details were missed this time. As repeat guests who book directly, this experience has left us questioning whether staying again would be worthwhile.

Out of this world service!!!!

The service here is absolutely fantastic!! As soon as we arrived for check in, we were greeted with the sweetest host, Selin!! She was knowledgeable, kind, and so hospitable. She made sure we had a good room and upgraded us for free! She made sure to connect us with the concierge as well, as to not give us misinformation. At the concierge we met Denis, who helped us find show information and helped us when we were trying to book, giving show recommendations and seat suggestions. After we came back down for dinner and sightseeing, he went out into the rain to hail us a taxi, an above and beyond gesture that we’ve spoken about all weekend!! The doormen have been so kind and chivalrous as well. The service here can make up for any flaw, not that the hotel has many. My biggest frustration was the lack of lighting in the room, so if you are an IG warrior like myself it may be difficult to get pictures in the room without a selfie light, but there are so many other spots in the hotel to take pictures!! Overall we loved our stay, but mostly our staff!! Highly recommend!

The rooms where very good but could have 2 double beds instead of a sofa bed and a double but overall the stay was great!
