We've just had a two-night stay at the Rosewood London for a belated birthday treat. We travelled with our young son (5yo), so we were looking for somewhere kid-friendly, and the Rosewood definitely ticks that box. We all loved meeting Pearl the resident Director of Canine Relations and similar to Pearl we were also suitably unimpressed with the cold weather in London! On arrival to our family room, we were greeted with chocolate birthday treats and a very sweet note to our son from Pearl. He was given a mini-Pearl soft toy, and a bathtime treat from Lush (it's practically his favourite store after the Lego shop). He thoroughly enjoyed using the bath-bombs in the super deep bath tub. I really appreciated that our son was addressed directly by staff and this small gesture was deeply felt by us. Every time we were heading back to the hotel he always asked us if Pearl would still be there - it clearly was a thrill for him. Some things that contributed to our enjoyment of the hotel; The dramatic entrance into the enclosed courtyard is unique for London, and our son thought we'd come to stay in a castle The decor is absolutely beautiful (if a little dimly lit in places). The beds were like fluffy clouds, and the pillows some of the best I have experienced in a hotel The room was ample by London standards, so plenty of run-around space for a 5-year-old A powerful shower and a deep bath - means we all got what we wanted! I liked having a sofa in the room, great for bedtime reading The Holborn dining room gets a big thumbs up, great design, nice service and yummy food (the kid's menu is great too) I'd have loved to have hung out in Scarfes Bar but didn't have the time as we had our son with us. Although we did have a few drinks from there that we brought up to our room in the evening The staff were all polite and helpful. I had several chats with the individuals looking after Pearl when she was going out for walks etc. I don't like subservient service, and much prefer affable people skills and this was very much evident at the Rosewood London. I'm sure not many guests can claim to have had a snowball fight in the courtyard! The hotel is 2-mins walking to the tube Really close by and well worth visiting are the Soane Museum, the British Museum and Covent Garden is a very short walk (10 mins Max). As ex-Londoners we loved the hotels location. The lobby was chilly, but to be fair London was experiencing a real cold snap. I would also have liked to have been able to sit somewhere with our son that wasn't the room or the restaurant. We particularly enjoyed our weekend stay at the Rosewood, and I'd definitely return for another family visit. Next time I'm going to make use of the spa too.

This is a beautifully decorated hotel that is done up in a sophisticated and elegant manner. All of the staff I interacted with from the doorman to the servers were pleasant and helpful. The rooms are done up tastefully and the bed was large and very comfortable. An added bonus was that the toiletries provided were sumptuous! The location of the hotel is great, as it just a few minutes' walk away from Holborn station and Covent Garden is a 10 minute walk away as well. If you're willing to walk 15-20 minutes, then Tottenham Court Road or Oxford Circus are not too far away either. The best part is that despite being in a busy part of the city, the hotel's entrance is tucked away in a little courtyard, making the place like a little escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The only downside was that there was no view from our room, it was just facing into other windows or another building but we didn't really mind this. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back!

We booked a king bedroom though Expedia and received a VIP program bonus of free breakfast for 2 for both mornings. The room was elegant, but extremely masculine. Sitting area had 1 gigantic table and only 1 arm chair; clearly a business traveler's room. However the staff were quick to bring another chair for us. The room has a complimentary Nespresso machine that is a wonderful treat when battling jet lag; also useful for hot tea. Sheets were luxurious, bed very comfortable. Elegant bathroom and well appointed, though dim lighting. The only major drawback was the room lacked a vanity area for a woman's make up and hair styling. Literally no plug next to a functional mirror (just a magnifying one). I had to plug the blow dryer in the wall next to the closet mirrors and the cord barely reached. The bathroom lighting is too dim to apply makeup correctly so I had to guess at what I would look like in daylight. First world problems, right? :-p All food and service in the 2 restaurants and bar were top notch. I will say the bar cocktails are over the top and fussy on the palate IMHO. Certainly would love to come back!
