About the Hotel

You might still spot politicians enjoying a reprieve from Parliament at The Royal Horseguards. It began life as The National Liberal Club in 1884 and was commandeered by the Ministry of Defense during both world wars to headquarter the M15 and M16, Britain's secret intelligence organizations. After undergoing a full renovation in 2008, sparkling chandeliers and contemporary accents join the oil paintings and rich red and gold furnishings that still retain the air of Westminster.

I Couldn't Have Picked a Better Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 23 hours ago

This hotel is as pretty as the pictures. The rooms are large and spacious and very quiet (I was concerned being in London). Right behind the hotel is Whitehall Gardens and the Thames and two train stations within easy walking distance. The view from my room was of the London Eye (the ferris wheel). Easy walking to museums, and a zillion restaurants and the theater district. The restaurants in the hotel are fabulous but the staff is amazing....Jorge (Director of Rooms) and Pervez the doorman and the front desk staff. Black Cabs are always out front. It was my first trip to London solo and I couldn't have picked a better location nor hotel.

Great Location and Good value

This hotel is a great choice for a nice-sized room located close to attractions like Westminister and Trafalgar Square, but in a quiet corner away from the crowds. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The spacious rooms are a great value.

Good location old fashioned layout

Service and location fantastic our river view pricey room only had the view if we were standing. My dad is 88 and the corridors have frequent changes of level which was difficult for him. It’s an old building

The royal treatment is something special

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

We just finished a fantastic eight night stay at the Royal Horseguards. It was our second stay here, and hopefully not our last. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting London. The location is ideal for walking or a short cab ride to many of the major attractions. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and surprisingly quiet. The real stars here are the members of the desk and concierge staff. Every encounter was positive, every person was unfailingly polite and helpful. I can’t wait to return to London, and when I do, the Royal Horseguards will be my first choice. Insider tip: Ask Javier for the tour of the grand staircase and other rooms that most guests never see. You will enjoy it!
