You might still spot politicians enjoying a reprieve from Parliament at The Royal Horseguards. It began life as The National Liberal Club in 1884 and was commandeered by the Ministry of Defense during both world wars to headquarter the M15 and M16, Britain's secret intelligence organizations. After undergoing a full renovation in 2008, sparkling chandeliers and contemporary accents join the oil paintings and rich red and gold furnishings that still retain the air of Westminster.

We just finished a fantastic eight night stay at the Royal Horseguards. It was our second stay here, and hopefully not our last. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting London. The location is ideal for walking or a short cab ride to many of the major attractions. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and surprisingly quiet. The real stars here are the members of the desk and concierge staff. Every encounter was positive, every person was unfailingly polite and helpful. I can’t wait to return to London, and when I do, the Royal Horseguards will be my first choice. Insider tip: Ask Javier for the tour of the grand staircase and other rooms that most guests never see. You will enjoy it!

We have visited this hotel several times The location is excellent. Thrme hotel overlooks whitehall gardens with the river behind The terrace bar is well placed next to the gardens. Service there is excellent in particularASA who is very good .. desk and concierge staff are very accommodating. Rooms which have a river or garden views are spacious . It's a pity that the EQUUS bar is temporarily closed (again) but not mentioned in hotels website

Check in was efficient and our rooms were ready when we arrived, around 3pm. The room was tired with a patched area on the worn carpet. A shower screen would’ve been more appropriate for a 5* hotel, as opposed to a shower curtain. The mini bar contained two bottles of complementary water, a coke, a Diet Coke, small chocolate bar and bag of popcorn. There was a Nespresso machine and coffee pods also provided complementary. The bed was comfortable, our spacious room was serviced every day. The air conditioning was welcomed during the height of summer. The hotel was in an ideal location for all the top sightseeing spots. With easy access to public transport links. The back of the hotel overlooked the Thames and the London eye. It was a few minutes walk from China Town and the theatres. Breakfast was great. Lots of choice of both continental and cooked breakfast items, as well as pancakes, fresh fruit, juices & Prosecco. The staff weren’t friendly and none of them looked happy to be there. We had drinks in the garden one lunchtime and again the woman behind the bar looked miserable. We were made to feel like an inconvenience. We ordered ice from room service on our second night. It never arrived. The doormen were lovely and were friendly when they greeted us. There is a cart in reception with sweets, lollipops and iced water. Our daughter took full advantage! When we checked out we were asked if everything was ok during our stay. We mentioned the view of the brick wall from the window and were advised we should’ve requested a garden view. We didn’t know to request this.

The team at RHH did such a great job of welcoming our mum and dad for their 45th Anniversary. Selina J from front desk was super wonderful and helped organise the card and details, which meant the world to them and us. Thank you Selina and team. All the best
