You might still spot politicians enjoying a reprieve from Parliament at The Royal Horseguards. It began life as The National Liberal Club in 1884 and was commandeered by the Ministry of Defense during both world wars to headquarter the M15 and M16, Britain's secret intelligence organizations. After undergoing a full renovation in 2008, sparkling chandeliers and contemporary accents join the oil paintings and rich red and gold furnishings that still retain the air of Westminster.

Overall, we had a wonderful experience at The Royal Horseguards Hotel in London. We did have A/C problems with our room at check-in and had to change to a smaller room with a working A/C, but the staff made this change in a professional manner and afterwards everything was outstanding. All hotel staff were exemplary and over-the-top courteous and helpful. To say they were friendly would be an understatement. The concierge staff was especially helpful providing recommendations on restaurants, entertainment, and activities in London. In particular, concierge Javier was unmatched. He provided our party a courtesy tour of the NLC or National Liberal Club, which was established in 1882 by the then Prime Minister and occupies one end of the hotel property. Winston Churchill was a member of NLC as was many other notable individuals. This was a very unique opportunity and we are very appreciative. We will stay here again on our next trip to London. L.D. We secured a river view queen room and the room’s accouterments and view delivered. Check in and valet were efficient and professional. Help planning sightseeing and transportation by the concierge was flawless. Would not hesitate to stay here on the next visit. Small nick - The room needed two luggage racks for two international travelers. Also did not provide water for the coffee maker. The carbonated spring water wouldn’t be for tea or coffee. Other hotels provide 2-3 small water boxes for coffee or tea. Also the second day room service was incomplete and the minibar was not fully restocked.

For the first time in many years I was visiting London just as a tourist. This location is perfect to get to many of the prime attractions and the transportation assistance was excellent.

We were put in a room with frosted windows and amost no natural light. Such that we had to have the lights on, and couldn't tell what the whether was like in the middle of Summer. We were not told about this or given another option. When we complained about this on leaving we were promised that management would get in touch, but they never have, which shows how much they care about their customers
