The Royal Horseguards

We have stayed in the Hotel many times and can honestly say that this time was equally as good as all those in the past. The Hotel never fails to impress us, the staff are all very welcoming and friendly, the quality of the food and drink in the restaurant is excellent and as for the view from our room ... wow! We always ask for a river view room and even though this time we were on a lower floor than before it didn't really make much difference. We have already booked to stay again in January and can't wait!

I discovered the Horseguards hotel on Expedia and it was a fantastic value given its location right in the heart of Westminster. I would definitely return here!

Nice hotel in a surprisingly quiet side street close to restaurants, bars, sights, etc. around Trafalgar Square. Our room was very spacious and bright, beds and mattresses were good, and the curtains effective, so sleeping quality was great. We were first given a room where the air condition was down, and the hotel chose to move us to another room, but in a hotel of this standard shouldn't someone have noticed (the bulb was flashing)? We were once again reminded of the British hotel classification system: 5-stars means 4-stars in any other European country, consider RH to be a 4-star hotel with 5-star service! In many ways The Royal Horseguards is a bit like an aging, faded beauty: Everything appears nice and clean, but you don't need a magnifying glass to see that the carpets are worn and stained, and under-curtains are sun bleached and partly brownish. Breakfast is great: Coffee/tea is brought to your table, according to your preference, and the variety in bread, meat, cheese, etc. is very good (of course you can have English breakfast too). The complete staff is extremely nice and helpful, service is absolute top level, and you feel like a welcome guest, not just another random customer.

Our 'Delux Double' was difficult to discern from a 'Double'. If you want a room facing the river, you must request a more expensive 'Garden Room' or higher, which wasn't identified on their web-site.

Very impressed with the location. The staff were professional, knowledgeable and friendly at all times. I will recommend this hotel to others for both professional and holiday destinations.
