About the Hotel

You might still spot politicians enjoying a reprieve from Parliament at The Royal Horseguards. It began life as The National Liberal Club in 1884 and was commandeered by the Ministry of Defense during both world wars to headquarter the M15 and M16, Britain's secret intelligence organizations. After undergoing a full renovation in 2008, sparkling chandeliers and contemporary accents join the oil paintings and rich red and gold furnishings that still retain the air of Westminster.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Royal Horseguard. The Terrance was lovely as was the food. Breakfast was extensive. Service from the Doormen and concierge was excellent. Could not ask for a better location.

Not quite right

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

The pros - friendly staff, great location, clean room and comfy beds, good shower with good pressure and temperature, good breakfast was included in our rate. The cons - taps were broken in one sink and briefly were stuck shooting very hot water out at us. The beds were very close together, not a problem as I was with my mum, but could be an issue if you were with a colleague etc! There was no kettle in the room or tea making equipment, just a nespresso. No milk or sugar. The mini bar was noisy and glowed all night, we had to switch it off. There was a very bright blue light from the towel rail button that lit up the whole room all night. Over all I’ve been in much worse hotels, but the niggles and lack of in room kettle made this feel less than luxury, a shame as it’s a great building and staff were nice. Worth a go if you’re not bothered by light at night and don’t drink tea! 😊
