The Royal Horseguards in London, England
You might still spot politicians enjoying a reprieve from Parliament at The Royal Horseguards. It began life as The National Liberal Club in 1884 and was commandeered by the Ministry of Defense during both world wars to headquarter the M15 and M16, Britain's secret intelligence organizations. After undergoing a full renovation in 2008, sparkling chandeliers and contemporary accents join the oil paintings and rich red and gold furnishings that still retain the air of Westminster.
Stride across manicured lawns to the banks of the River Thames and follow it south. Veer right to walk along St. James's Park. Stare down the stern guards outside Buckingham Palace and give the Queen a nod. Circle back to The Royal Horseguards for afternoon tea and apricot scones on the sunlit terrace. Raise a glass to Churchill at the bar named after him – he was one of The National Liberal Club’s most prominent members.

Reviews for The Royal Horseguards
Wow, what a fantastic place to end my 3 week trip at! I was a little concerned when I first arrived and my room wasn't ready. But, I was early and that gave me time to find the car park to get rid of my vehicle. When I returned, the room was ready. I asked for a river view, but my room on the 6th floor had a wonderful view of the trees.... The room itself was very nice and spacious with a very high ceiling. I called reception to see if anything was available on a higher floor. There were several options. They met me at my room and took me to room 800.... That was as far as I needed to go. It was a 2-story room in the turret at the far end of the building. The views were absolutely STUNNING! A clear view from the Embankment station all the way to Westminster Bridge. The view of the London Eye were amazing!! The upper floor is just one large living room space and the downstairs has the bathroom and bedroom. But, the room itself wasn't all that it took to be amazing. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. From start to finish! Since I was leaving for the airport at 4:00 am, they allowed me to check out the night before even though there is 24 hour reception. Allowing me to check out the night before let me not stress about that process in addition to everything else. The doormen were friendly and exceptionally knowledgeable about local events, neat things to see, and good restaurants. The breakfast buffet was DELISH! Everything was fresh and was closely monitored to ensure everything was always perfect. They care about you and the quality of your time spent with them. It's for sure NOT CHEAP by any means, but there is value to quality. The location alone dictates the pricing, but the staff and everything makes it feel like it's still a wonderful value for money.

Visited London on the weekend of trooping the colour, so it was ultra busy, however the Royal Horseguard coped admiralty, there was no waiting and the staff are so helpful and courteous. Some aspects of our large room were a little tired but it was sparkling clean, and the complimentary water etc very welcome on a very hot day. We were made to feel special by every member of staff all a credit to the Hotel.
I really don't know where to begin! The location of this hotel is very good but that's where it stops. I checked in to a room which had no natural light and was like a dungeon. Everytime I rang room service it would take 4 or 5 calls before someone answered. Eventually I ordered dinner but it simply didn't arrive. Each day the water in the fridge was not replaced, When I rang down for it, it didn't arrive. There seems to be a huge problem with the service here which, for the price you pay, is not good enough. I've stayed I. 3 star places with better service than this. Add to that, two evacuations, one of them at 6.30 am and I can't wait to check out! I would not recommend nor would I stay here again!

Our room on the 8th floor had breathtaking views of the Thames and London Eye. As has been said by many reviewers, the location cannot be beat. It is walking distance to many of the major attractions in the area. There are beautiful gardens directly in front of the property. The tulips in the garden were in bloom when we were there and it made for some fantastic pictures! The heated floors and towel racks in the room are an extra added treat. If we return to London in the future, there is no question we will stay at the Royal Horseguards again.

I read some of the other reviews about some of the issues with rooms, staff, checkout and while I agree( as a trainer for customer service) There is a little work to do, I have been to 3 hotels in London, Hyatt CHurchill, Rennsiasannce Westminster and Royal Horseguards and hands down Royal Horsegards is the BEST LOCATION, BEST LOBBY,BEST DOORMAN,Starbucks across the street. They have a FREE minibar with water and soda, free coffee delivered in 10 minutes of calling roomservice, THE BEST CONCIERGE and AMAZING DOORMAN, so close to Covent Garden, Picadilly and Chelsea, theatre district, close to Buckingham Palace, you can see the EYE and BIG BEn where ever you walk as your compass Rooms are nice, but who's in their room when you visit London anyway, they have heated Floors, towle warmers and for Ladies who need great hairdryers they have a whole makeup desk with a fab hair dryer. Great pour on wine at the bar and a beautiful park to sit and have coffee right in front of hotel. As a business woman who has stayed at Ritz Carltons and Four Seasons for 30 years I loved this hotel as the price is more resonable than the Ritz The front of house is excellent yet it is a small boutique hotel. I will visit again.
