The Royal Horseguards in London, England
You might still spot politicians enjoying a reprieve from Parliament at The Royal Horseguards. It began life as The National Liberal Club in 1884 and was commandeered by the Ministry of Defense during both world wars to headquarter the M15 and M16, Britain's secret intelligence organizations. After undergoing a full renovation in 2008, sparkling chandeliers and contemporary accents join the oil paintings and rich red and gold furnishings that still retain the air of Westminster.
Stride across manicured lawns to the banks of the River Thames and follow it south. Veer right to walk along St. James's Park. Stare down the stern guards outside Buckingham Palace and give the Queen a nod. Circle back to The Royal Horseguards for afternoon tea and apricot scones on the sunlit terrace. Raise a glass to Churchill at the bar named after him – he was one of The National Liberal Club’s most prominent members.

Reviews for The Royal Horseguards
I have stayed in this hotel for a couple of times in the past two years and I can only recommend it without any hesitation. The hotel restaurant One 21 Two is excellent, superb mushroom soup and a nice variety of steaks. The staff is very very polite and friendy. Rooms are nice and cosy, and big enough which is also important. Great location, just a quick walk to all the great things you have to see while in London.
Had a lovely afternoon tea served by a lovely lady. Went with friends we had a glass of bubbly a lovely selection of sandwiches and cakes.scones & cream the sandwiches were replenished so was the tea and service was a delight this is my 3rd visit this year. I love the atmosphere and I like the way your treated no different by having a groupon offer as many places do

The hotel is expensive, but boy is it worth it if you want to treat yourself to some luxury for a weekend or 3-4 days. The staff is friendly, the rooms are great and the ambience, architecture and atmosphere of the hotel is just superb. It's almost like you are in Downton Abbey. The location is VERY central, and since Westminster station, as well as Charing Cross and a couple of others, are very close by, it's easy to go almost anywhere. And of course, the Thames is just outside, and you have the possibilities of great walks to see London's most famous sites and attractions. The breakfast is also good, but i wouldn't hurt to get more items on the breakfast menu. I've seen more impressive breakfasts at other, far cheaper, hotels. I've stayed there twice so far, and I'll be going back, for sure.

The horseguards is everything lovely about London. Location is convenient, in the mix of things, and safe area. We had a view of the London eye across the river. The staff was brilliant. The rooms was nice. A bit small but as can be expected for London. Luxurious, heated towels...etc. The only unfortunate bit was the fire alarm that went off at 4am that forced everyone to evacuate. No apology or reason was ever given. Other than that, it was a great experience. The hotel was very classy.

Things didn't get off to a great start, we arrived to check in at about 15:10 but unfortunately our room was not ready so we sat in reception for almost 30 minutes before finally getting the key. I was getting fed up at waiting so long and would have preferred to be given another room rather than be kept waiting for a specific one. We were given 2 complimentary glasses of prosecco which were well received. We had not been in the room long before I realised that the air conditioning was making the right noises but sadly there was no cool air coming out. I called reception and was immediately offered to switch rooms. Before long we were in our new room which was an upgrade from our previous one. Whilst it is never good to have to swap rooms I am very happy with the way the problem was dealt with. The new room was very nice, really quite large and comfortable. The complimentary mini bar was welcome. All in it was a great stay. Yes, there were a couple of problems but the staff dealt with them both very well.
