The Rubens at the Palace is the closest you'll get to a sleepover with the Queen without a state visit invitation. The hotel is directly across from the royal residence on property that enjoys a colorful past – the Duke of Buckingham lived here in the 1600s, followed by an apothecary and a Court dressmaker. The Rubens, which was built in 1912, housed the Polish army during WWII and gave respite to exiled Charles de Gaulle. The hotel's decadent – and often equally colorful – rooms and suites are a comfortable home base in the epicenter of London.

A. Warm and friendly welcome from doorman and staff, all of whom offer greetings whenever they pass and seem to always be willing to help and offer assistance. Great location too. I travelled with an organised tour group of 45 people, and felt aware that our large group sometimes gathered in parts of the hotel where we caused some issues regarding blocking of throughways, though hotel staff managed diplomatically and politely resolve any difficulties. My room was hugely disappointing, as although clean with a very comfy bed, it had no natural light, as the window was totally obscured by timber and vegetation. The bathroom was entered via two very steep steps, and the shower over the bath was useless for me as there was no handrail to assist stepping into and out of the bath, only a low handrail to assist once in the bath. I felt that the room and facilities were less than I had experienced at a Premier Inn, where there is at least a window and a walk in shower. Breakfast menu and buffet was exceptional as were the staff. Our group had all paid the same amount of money, and yet there was huge disparity in room type. I was with my sister, and she was accommodated in the Clarence suite, which you can imagine caused much (good natured) discussion!

We hadn’t planned on staying at The Rubens. We hadn’t planned on being in London. In fact we had just arrived in Athens on Sunday to board a Best of Greece cruise the next day, which was unexpectedly cancelled just hours after we arrived due to a major mechanical issue. So there we were in Athens, convinced that Greece was cursed (at least for us, this was our second visit, hoping to break the curse from the first visit which did not go well, very much unsuccessfully I might add!) and needing to find somewhere to go at the last minute to try and salvage our vacation. Staying in Greece was not an option. We had been to London and stayed at The Rubens several times before, so in our moment of needing a safe alternative and a familiar place to call home for 9 nights, we quickly booked our reservation, hopped on a plane and flew to London. Immediately upon arrival and the friendly welcome we received, we knew we made the right choice. The staff are incredible from top to bottom, and the level of customer service we received is unmatched. The gents in red coats manning the front door always greet with a friendly smile and a kind word (shout out to Robert). The front desk staff are attentive and highly professional. The concierge knowledgeable and ready to help make your stay in London memorable. The bar staff friendly and attentive. We even booked an afternoon tea experience for our first time ever and all I can say is Wow! Best to go hungry because the sandwiches, scones and desserts are delicious and plentiful! The room was impeccably clean and comfortable. The location of this hotel cannot be beat. Walking distance to many of the major attractions, and a short walk to Victoria Station to take the tube to any attractions a little further away. Also lots of great restaurants and shops within a 5 minute walk. Can you tell I love this hotel? We will most certainly be back again and again. My wife and I refer to The Rubens as “our London home”. We don’t even consider staying anywhere else. Well done Rubens staff, and thank you for salvaging our vacation and exceeding our expectations once again! Until next time…

I had such a wonderful stay at The Ruben hotel. From the kind doorman to the morning breakfast, they made my first time in London even more memorable. Anytime a staff member saw you they would say hello. I never felt ignored, and you can tell they're intentional about making you feel welcome. They also sent out a postcard for me so I didn't have to walk across the street, which was very sweet. There's a wide selection for breakfast, and it all tastes fresh. It was the perfect start to a busy day. They also provided waters in the room and restocked it daily. I would definitely stay here again.

I just returned from an amazing 6 nights at The Rubens. My trip was for business and at the last minute, I had to bring my baby along. This worried me greatly, but thanks to the wonderful staff of the hotel, my week went off without a hitch. The staff couldn't have been any kinder, more helpful, or professional. From the moment we arrived, special attention was paid to the baby and any assistance I needed. There is no doubt that I will be returning to this hotel. It has won a special place in my heart.

Our package at the Rubens at the Palace let my mother and me live like a queen. From the flowers in the room, the beautiful suite, the daily high tea, the staff - everything was a deluxe vacation opportunity. My previous vacations to London pale in comparison to this experience.

I stayed at the hotel and found it to be delightful. It was a good, central location with comfortable, well-appointed rooms. The staff was outstanding, and the food was quite good. I would definitely stay there again!
