About the Hotel

The Rubens at the Palace is the closest you'll get to a sleepover with the Queen without a state visit invitation. The hotel is directly across from the royal residence on property that enjoys a colorful past – the Duke of Buckingham lived here in the 1600s, followed by an apothecary and a Court dressmaker. The Rubens, which was built in 1912, housed the Polish army during WWII and gave respite to exiled Charles de Gaulle. The hotel's decadent – and often equally colorful – rooms and suites are a comfortable home base in the epicenter of London.

Wonderful stay

We had a wonderful stay at The Rubens. Every staff member we met was kind and helpful. Our room was beautiful and the included breakfast was delicious. The location was great - so easy to get to Victoria Station and if a cab was needed, the doorman was always happy to hail one for us. Would highly recommend

Frank is a delight

We were gifted a whisky tasting experience at The Rubens. The experience itself was great - from the whisky, to the food, and setting - but our host Frank was worth the price of admission alone. Frank's kindness, knowledge, and old-fashioned charm were the highlight by far.

A very special experience

An invitation to a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace is a special landmark, and we decided to celebrate it with a stay at a highly rated class hotel. Our anticipation was more than matched by a very special experience. From the moment you are ushered in the door, you are treated as if you are the only person who matters, whose happiness is predominant in the thoughts of the staff. That is the key to this hotel - the sheer excellence of the staff, at every level. If you ever get a similar opportunity, I would advise booking in the night before. We did not, and checking-in was at 15:00, the time we were due to leave for the palace. Thankfully, this potential blocker to an enjoyable afternoon was saved by the exceptional service provided by Charlie on the front desk (and, indeed, seemingly everywhere else), who ensured that not only did we have a room available in plenty of time, but also had an upgrade on that originally booked. Throughout our stay, he and his colleagues were incredibly attentive, so a word of advice to those such as the man who was on the front desk checking out as we arrived, who very rudely refused to pay the optional staff service charge. Such is his right, but they deserve every pound, and it is shared out equitably. The bar has a lovely range of drinks. We had dinner with a friend, who had a Spanish pork dish. We had rib eye steak, perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, literally melting in the mouth. There is a great wine list, and the fine single malt at the end of the night simply capped off a perfect day. Breakfast is a highlight, with a wide ranging hot and cold choice, again the service second to none. This hotel was a very important element of a special day for my wife and I. I would highly recommend a stay at a very special establishment.

Wonderful Hotel

We stayed at the Ruben’s in May for an anniversary trip to London. The hotel and staff were incredible. Their attention to detail is amazing. The area the hotel is located is very walkable and near all the attractions of London.

I just returned from an amazing 6 nights at The Rubens. My trip was for business and at the last minute, I had to bring my baby along. This worried me greatly, but thanks to the wonderful staff of the hotel, my week went off without a hitch. The staff couldn't have been any kinder, more helpful, or professional. From the moment we arrived, special attention was paid to the baby and any assistance I needed. There is no doubt that I will be returning to this hotel. It has won a special place in my heart.

Our package at the Rubens at the Palace let my mother and me live like a queen. From the flowers in the room, the beautiful suite, the daily high tea, the staff - everything was a deluxe vacation opportunity. My previous vacations to London pale in comparison to this experience.

I can't say enough about the amazing service at the hotel. Everyone was so friendly and helpful whenever we had questions or needed help. The concierge was wonderful and went out of his way to come check on us and see how our day our was turning out. It made us feel very welcome and almost like family! The room was very comfortable, the food in the bar was great, service was amazing. We'll stay here again!
