About the Hotel

The Rubens at the Palace is the closest you'll get to a sleepover with the Queen without a state visit invitation. The hotel is directly across from the royal residence on property that enjoys a colorful past – the Duke of Buckingham lived here in the 1600s, followed by an apothecary and a Court dressmaker. The Rubens, which was built in 1912, housed the Polish army during WWII and gave respite to exiled Charles de Gaulle. The hotel's decadent – and often equally colorful – rooms and suites are a comfortable home base in the epicenter of London.

Another good stay at this hotel near Buckingham Palace

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 hours ago

Another good stay at this well appointed hotel. As usual the staff were great. I asked to move room as my allotted room (101) was not only small but quite oppressive with no direct light and a step up to the bathroom. My request was dealt with very efficiently and without fuss. Thanks as usual also to the concierge team and especially Robert who hailed our taxis snd helped with our luggage. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Wonderful hotel with great staff

I had a wonderful stay at this beautiful hotel. Its location is outstanding: really close to the Royal palace and Hyde Park, to Victoria station and shopping areas. The staff of the hotel was incredibly friendly and attentive. They were ready to assist with everything I needed, from accommodation-related questions to providing a plug adapter or an umbrella for the rainy weather. I’d also like to mention the bar of the hotel with its calm, relaxing atmosphere and pleasant music. The team there is exceptional. I enjoyed warm conversations with the bartender and Lucio, the bar manager, who did everything possible to ensure I had my best experience. The hotel has a great team and I wish it prosperity and many grateful guests in the future.

Hello! Rubens at the Palace was the best experience. The staff was very accommodating and extremely friendly. They were very helpful with the bags! The doorman named Robert was so kind and the most polite, helpful, and respectful. I urge you to stay here to experience the lovely staff!

Hidden gem in the heart of London

I would highly recommend the Rubens at the Palace in London. From the moment we walked through the door, we felt welcomed. The staff were friendly and professional and delivered a high standard of service. From the doormen to the staff at the English Grill and New York Bar to the elegant room, we were delighted during our stay. The room was very cozy and comfortable. It was also the quietest hotel stay that I can remember which helped us to recharge each night. Everything was clean and room service cleaned up and tidied every day. The location right across from Buckingham Palace is also ideal to so many destinations. Whether walking around or a block to the Tube, anywhere is reachable. When we go back to London, we will definitely return to the Rubens.

Beautiful, classic hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

A beautiful hotel in an excellent location, opposite the Royal Mews, close to Green Park and Victoria. My room, a classic double, was small, but the furnishings were lovely and the bed was very comfortable. Where this hotel scores over many city hotels is its staff, who were without exception polite, friendly and helpful. A special mention for Charlie at Reception. I had afternoon tea with two friends and the food, drinks and general atmosphere were simply delightful. Breakfast was also very good. Only one slight hitch: when booking afternoon tea by phone a few weeks ago, I had been told that I would receive a 10% discount on the price - but this was not given and I was told that I had been misinformed. That is okay, but the staff member should not have given me incorrect information in the first place.

I just returned from an amazing 6 nights at The Rubens. My trip was for business and at the last minute, I had to bring my baby along. This worried me greatly, but thanks to the wonderful staff of the hotel, my week went off without a hitch. The staff couldn't have been any kinder, more helpful, or professional. From the moment we arrived, special attention was paid to the baby and any assistance I needed. There is no doubt that I will be returning to this hotel. It has won a special place in my heart.

Our package at the Rubens at the Palace let my mother and me live like a queen. From the flowers in the room, the beautiful suite, the daily high tea, the staff - everything was a deluxe vacation opportunity. My previous vacations to London pale in comparison to this experience.
