About the Hotel

The Rubens at the Palace is the closest you'll get to a sleepover with the Queen without a state visit invitation. The hotel is directly across from the royal residence on property that enjoys a colorful past – the Duke of Buckingham lived here in the 1600s, followed by an apothecary and a Court dressmaker. The Rubens, which was built in 1912, housed the Polish army during WWII and gave respite to exiled Charles de Gaulle. The hotel's decadent – and often equally colorful – rooms and suites are a comfortable home base in the epicenter of London.

Reviews for The Rubens at the Palace

Good enough for Royalty!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 19 hours ago

We required an accessible room. Pascal the most welcoming and efficient Doorman helped with the valet parking of our vehicle ensuring that I didn’t require any extra help, in just a few minutes the car had been emptied of all the luggage, checked over and signed off and taken to the carpark. The concierge team took the cases to our rooms. Our room was on the first floor, the lift is next to our room we did not experience any noise from the workings of the lift at any point of our stay. The room perfect for our needs with the usual extra wide doorways, two wash basins at different heights, excellent water pressure through the shower ,and removable seat. Plenty of hand rails and emergency pull cords. Breakfast is superb, continental buffet breakfast and additional menu for freshly made options, the pistachio French toast is amazing. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is also a pre theatre menu. The quality of the food is exceptional. Good enough for Royalty, as the Duke of Kent attended a luncheon during our stay. The New York Bar is open all day serving drinks and quality food until 11pm. The manager - Leo, is ever present to welcome you in the mornings and during the day in the bar, running a very efficient ‘tight ship’ with all staff being a credit to both him and the hotel

Wonderful hotel and staff

My partner and I stayed here recently for my birthday, and what a wonderful stay we had. From the very start we were made to feel so welcome by the staff, they were so helpful and no request was too much. The bedroom was spacious, light and clean, we couldn't have asked for more. If you're coming to London, you must stay here!! We will 100% be back.

Wonderful experience

This was a real stand out experience. I travelled with my 4 year old son and we were met with such a beautiful welcome and a teddy, which was such a lovely touch. When we needed to get a taxi, the porter looked after us swiftly each time, and was just so warm and friendly. The cookies and chocolate in our room each night was also a lovely touch. The breakfast was spectacular and the service fabulous. Next time I travel to London, this is where I want to stay.

The Rubens at the Palace is a beautiful quaint place near Buckingham Palace. Perfectly located. The entire staff was amazing. Our doorman Jan, who we interacted with a million times a day, was right on point. Super personable, warm and friendly.

I just returned from an amazing 6 nights at The Rubens. My trip was for business and at the last minute, I had to bring my baby along. This worried me greatly, but thanks to the wonderful staff of the hotel, my week went off without a hitch. The staff couldn't have been any kinder, more helpful, or professional. From the moment we arrived, special attention was paid to the baby and any assistance I needed. There is no doubt that I will be returning to this hotel. It has won a special place in my heart.

Our package at the Rubens at the Palace let my mother and me live like a queen. From the flowers in the room, the beautiful suite, the daily high tea, the staff - everything was a deluxe vacation opportunity. My previous vacations to London pale in comparison to this experience.
