About the Hotel

The Rubens at the Palace is the closest you'll get to a sleepover with the Queen without a state visit invitation. The hotel is directly across from the royal residence on property that enjoys a colorful past – the Duke of Buckingham lived here in the 1600s, followed by an apothecary and a Court dressmaker. The Rubens, which was built in 1912, housed the Polish army during WWII and gave respite to exiled Charles de Gaulle. The hotel's decadent – and often equally colorful – rooms and suites are a comfortable home base in the epicenter of London.

Reviews for The Rubens at the Palace

Can’t wait to go back!

My husband and I spent a week at the Rubens at the Palace, and it was truly exceptional from start to finish. I honestly can’t imagine a more perfect place to stay in London. The hotel is picture-perfect and ideally located — we were able to reach major attractions and popular spots within minutes. The moment we walked in, we were greeted by the hotel’s wonderful signature scent and staff who offered some of the warmest, most genuine hospitality I’ve ever experienced. Throughout our stay, every team member went out of their way to make us feel welcome and well cared for. Our room was beautifully appointed and overlooked the Royal Mews, which was such a unique and charming view. Housekeeping visited daily and kept everything pristine. Considering the combination of elegance, service, and location, the value is excellent. The hotel also has several great dining options, and their afternoon tea is an absolute must — one of the highlights of our trip. Our week in London felt magical, and staying at the Rubens at the Palace played a huge part in that. I can’t recommend this hotel highly enough.

Remarkable experience !!

Well we drove away from this wonderful experience with heavy hearts and tears in our eyes leaving was so so tough ! We were treated with the most upmost respect and felt as though we had known the employees forever ! The close team atmosphere was outstanding - absolutely nothing was to much trouble - around every corner were smiling friendly faces all to keen to ensure the memory of our stay will live with us for ever , which it certainly will . I did not wish to name anyone in particular for fear of missing someone out - as for the meals we had - I truly believe the standard could not have been increased !! We have passed on our thoughts and recommendations to all that we know and some that we don’t !!!

'AMAZING'

Another amazing stay at The Rubens. We have stayed at the Hotel many times when visiting London, so it was our number one choice again to celebrate our Ruby wedding. The rooms are beautifully appointed, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Mr husband has been quite ill recently and therefore over the weekend he would be spending a lot of time in the room. Our room was lovely but there wasn't much room to sit. On our 1st morning, I went for a walk. On passing reception the staff asked if everything was OK. I did mention it was sad that it wouldn't be possible to enjoy breakfast in our room. Whilst I was out I received a call from Joe. He had been told of my conversation and wanted to help. He offered to move us to a larger room. On my return, Joe showed me the new room. This exceeded all of our expectations. Breakfast next morning in our room was amazing and the rest of our stay was exceptional. The service received went above and beyond our wildest dreams and made our anniversary even more special. Thank you to all the staff, especially Joe. Don't hesitate to book this Hotel if visiting London you will not be disappointed. The service, the ambience, the food are all 5 star plus

The chosen one!!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Out of thousands of hotels I chose this one for a more British experience, I love my room, although small it is well done, extremely comfortable, quiet, luxurious, great water pressure very quiet, staff could not be any nicer!!! Would come here again if I am ever back in London, very accessible to transportation, shops, restaurants and sights. It took me a few months of looking in my price range to figure out where I was staying so glad I chose the Rubens at the Palace!

Great hotel in a wonderful location

Very attentive service-oriented staff. The hotel is older but very nicely decorated. Fantastic location near Victoria Station and an easy walk to St. James Park. A quintessentially British experience. My room (although described as cosy) was spacious and well-appointed. Everything was very clean

I just returned from an amazing 6 nights at The Rubens. My trip was for business and at the last minute, I had to bring my baby along. This worried me greatly, but thanks to the wonderful staff of the hotel, my week went off without a hitch. The staff couldn't have been any kinder, more helpful, or professional. From the moment we arrived, special attention was paid to the baby and any assistance I needed. There is no doubt that I will be returning to this hotel. It has won a special place in my heart.

Our package at the Rubens at the Palace let my mother and me live like a queen. From the flowers in the room, the beautiful suite, the daily high tea, the staff - everything was a deluxe vacation opportunity. My previous vacations to London pale in comparison to this experience.

I stayed at the hotel and found it to be delightful. It was a good, central location with comfortable, well-appointed rooms. The staff was outstanding, and the food was quite good. I would definitely stay there again!

I can't say enough about the amazing service at the hotel. Everyone was so friendly and helpful whenever we had questions or needed help. The concierge was wonderful and went out of his way to come check on us and see how our day our was turning out. It made us feel very welcome and almost like family! The room was very comfortable, the food in the bar was great, service was amazing. We'll stay here again!
