About the Hotel

The Rubens at the Palace is the closest you'll get to a sleepover with the Queen without a state visit invitation. The hotel is directly across from the royal residence on property that enjoys a colorful past – the Duke of Buckingham lived here in the 1600s, followed by an apothecary and a Court dressmaker. The Rubens, which was built in 1912, housed the Polish army during WWII and gave respite to exiled Charles de Gaulle. The hotel's decadent – and often equally colorful – rooms and suites are a comfortable home base in the epicenter of London.

A True Gem!

The Rubens is a true gem in the city of London. The staff made us feel welcome from the moment they opened the front doors. We experienced the charm of the city and wonderful hospitality. Mr. Jan welcomes you to the hotel with a smile every day and service at the front desk by Joe and others makes you feel right at home. Cocktails in the lounge and Afternoon Tea in the Tea Room were a delight. Thank you for a very pleasant experience.

Best Stay Ever

First of all, let me say that this hotel is our favorite ever! If you are a couple, family, or solo traveler, this hotel is for you. We went on a family vacation with our son, sister and brother in law. We were greeted at the door by Pascal who was so charming and friendly. Upon entering, the receptionists were all smiles and so welcoming. Then they asked if my son could have a private check-in at the concierge desk nearby. He was given a booklet and coupons as well as a scavenger hunt. After that, we were all treated like royalty. Each night my son had treats left for him in the room as well as his own stuffed animal named Roger. He took Roger everywhere with him after that. The restaurants were all superb with the most personal service offered to us. My husband and his sister would talk over cocktails at night and met so many of the staff as well as the manager and looked forward to talking with them each evening. The rooms were beautiful, clean, and so comfortable. The location of the hotel is prime with Buckingham across the street. We felt safe to walk around and explore. A fantastic pub is a few steps away as well as many other restaurants should you venture from the hotel. When my son is asked his favorite part of our London trip, he says staying at The Rubens. We will certainly stay there again if ever in London!

Perfect anniversary trip!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 23 hours ago

We stayed at The Rubens from June 25-30 and I can’t say enough good things about it! From the moment you arrive you are welcomed warmly and made comfortable. Check in was efficient and our bags brought to our room immediately. It was an anniversary trip for us & we had a gorgeous vase of flowers and a kind note waiting for us in the room. And then a delicious chocolate cake was delivered within about 30 minutes of our arrival. Such personal touches made our stay really special. Our room (209) was not large but plenty of storage, lighting was decent, water pressure and temperatures in bath very good. AC very cold which was amazing as we were there during a very hot few days. Both still & sparkling water are replenished daily and housekeeping was outstanding. Bed was very comfortable and we had no noise from hallway or neighbors. The elevator was close but we usually choose to take the stairs as we were on the second floor. Location is perfect for seeing so many sights in Westminster and so close to Victoria for the tube and Grosvenor bus stop. Shout out to Pascal, the wonderful doorman who was always friendly and helpful when we needed a cab. We loved our stay at the Rubens and can’t wait to return!

I just returned from an amazing 6 nights at The Rubens. My trip was for business and at the last minute, I had to bring my baby along. This worried me greatly, but thanks to the wonderful staff of the hotel, my week went off without a hitch. The staff couldn't have been any kinder, more helpful, or professional. From the moment we arrived, special attention was paid to the baby and any assistance I needed. There is no doubt that I will be returning to this hotel. It has won a special place in my heart.

Our package at the Rubens at the Palace let my mother and me live like a queen. From the flowers in the room, the beautiful suite, the daily high tea, the staff - everything was a deluxe vacation opportunity. My previous vacations to London pale in comparison to this experience.

I can't say enough about the amazing service at the hotel. Everyone was so friendly and helpful whenever we had questions or needed help. The concierge was wonderful and went out of his way to come check on us and see how our day our was turning out. It made us feel very welcome and almost like family! The room was very comfortable, the food in the bar was great, service was amazing. We'll stay here again!
