About the Hotel

The Rubens at the Palace is the closest you'll get to a sleepover with the Queen without a state visit invitation. The hotel is directly across from the royal residence on property that enjoys a colorful past – the Duke of Buckingham lived here in the 1600s, followed by an apothecary and a Court dressmaker. The Rubens, which was built in 1912, housed the Polish army during WWII and gave respite to exiled Charles de Gaulle. The hotel's decadent – and often equally colorful – rooms and suites are a comfortable home base in the epicenter of London.

Reviews for The Rubens at the Palace

Good but with a Twist.

As most reviews have said "The Staff" can not be faulted - highly professional and courteous. The rooms are well appointed Clean and the Air Con actually worked (we went in the extreme Heatwave) with no shortage of towels or tea/coffee condiments. Beds were lovely and comfortable. I have major 3 concerns. 1. We stayed 5 nights and had £500 deposit taken (£100 per night) to go towards our expenses, even though i said we would not be spending that much! - and 2. The breakfasts are "Poor" in our estimation. Yes you have the Continental to choose from but with no choice of Fresh Fruit offered and to my mind quite basic. The "Cooked Breakfast you choose from the menu and you are only allowed to choose one item which comes to you plated. This i feel is a money saving issue. The Holiday Inns and Best Westerns are buffet so offer more choice and value for money. And 3. £15 pounds is automatically taken per night per room to go towards "Tips" no questions asked. So we were expected to pay £75 tip money for our 5 night stay - which upon Checking out i questioned and got "Refunded". So to Sum Up The Rubens is very well situated (and you pay for it) and a Good Hotel but the Client needs to know the Pitfalls and decide upon themselves if you are ready to Pay. Would i return? My answer has to be Yes.

Great location, warm welcome and excellent breakfast

I recently stayed at The Rubens at the Palace and had a truly lovely experience. Although my visit was brief, it was exactly the rest I needed, and I’m already looking forward to returning later this year. From the moment we arrived, the team made us feel incredibly welcome. My colleague and I were so grateful for the early check-in and the complimentary room upgrade - such a thoughtful touch that really set the tone for our stay. The location is fantastic, making it easy to enjoy London’s highlights. We spent our evenings at meetings and events, and on returning to the hotel, it was a pleasure to come back to such a calm and comfortable environment. Breakfast at the hotel was a real highlight - highly recommend the pistachio French toast, paired with a ginger shot, which was the perfect way to start the day after a busy evening. Despite having a packed schedule waiting for us back home, the peace and quiet of the Rubens over those two nights provided a perfect reset. Thank you to the whole team for such a warm and memorable stay - I look forward to visiting again soon.

Ambiance, Luxury, and Elegance

The Reubens is an Edwardian-style hotel with all the ambiance, luxury, and elegance we expected! The entire staff was excellent and seemed to be at our beck and call. The amazing JT manned the concierge desk! There was never a question or a task that he couldn’t find an answer to or a remedy for. The location was close to all the sites we visited.

I just returned from an amazing 6 nights at The Rubens. My trip was for business and at the last minute, I had to bring my baby along. This worried me greatly, but thanks to the wonderful staff of the hotel, my week went off without a hitch. The staff couldn't have been any kinder, more helpful, or professional. From the moment we arrived, special attention was paid to the baby and any assistance I needed. There is no doubt that I will be returning to this hotel. It has won a special place in my heart.

Our package at the Rubens at the Palace let my mother and me live like a queen. From the flowers in the room, the beautiful suite, the daily high tea, the staff - everything was a deluxe vacation opportunity. My previous vacations to London pale in comparison to this experience.

I can't say enough about the amazing service at the hotel. Everyone was so friendly and helpful whenever we had questions or needed help. The concierge was wonderful and went out of his way to come check on us and see how our day our was turning out. It made us feel very welcome and almost like family! The room was very comfortable, the food in the bar was great, service was amazing. We'll stay here again!
