The Rubens at the Palace is the closest you'll get to a sleepover with the Queen without a state visit invitation. The hotel is directly across from the royal residence on property that enjoys a colorful past – the Duke of Buckingham lived here in the 1600s, followed by an apothecary and a Court dressmaker. The Rubens, which was built in 1912, housed the Polish army during WWII and gave respite to exiled Charles de Gaulle. The hotel's decadent – and often equally colorful – rooms and suites are a comfortable home base in the epicenter of London.

Book The Rubens at the Palace immediately - it's five stars all the way. We are avid travelers, particular about accomodations, and this has easily become one of our favorite hotels - we miss it already and look forward to visiting again! Even before we booked this hotel, we reached out with inquiries and received prompt responses from the staff. I booked this hotel for the variety of unique experiences they offer - check their website for the full listing. My daughter did the Pastry Chef Experience for kids with staff member Sophie. As an aspiring professional chef, my daughter had the best time doing this experience (which is complimentary with the room booking - we just reserved it in advance.) When we initially arrived at the hotel, Jan greeted us at the door and ensured our luggage was taken care of. John took our luggage up to our room as we were checking in and pointed out particular things in our room when we entered (including the child's-size robe and slippers that were in the closet for my daughter) - such wonderful service! During my check-in with Alija (who was very friendly), Ellie greeted my daughter with a separate kids check-in, where she gave her the details regarding the upcoming Easter activities the hotel was hosting for their younger guests My daughter was also gifted with a plush, which she highly appreciated. We stayed in a Superior King room, which was spacious and clean. During our stay, housekeeping was VERY prompt with service. In addition to the high level of service at this hotel, the location can't be beat. It is across from the Royal Mews and steps away from Buckingham Palace, which was very convenient for us as Buckingham Palace is one of the stops on the hop-on, hop-off buses. The area is nice and low-key, despite its proximity to a major sightseeing landmark. There were countless restaurants and stores (including the Royal Mews store and the Buckingham Palace store, both on Buckingham Palace Road) within an easy walk from the hotel, even in the short distance between the hotel and Buckingham Palace. I also highly appreciated the 24-hour room service - on our first morning in London, I ordered a traditional English Breakfast via room service and it was wonderful. This hotel is a great value for the location, service and the unique experiences they offer. I have already recommended this hotel to others and will continue to do so. I would literally book another trip to London (all the way from the west coast of the United States) just to be able to stay at this hotel again.

We thought the hotel staff were excellent and very welcoming. Jan the doorman was so nice too! Our room was clean and very nice. The bed was comfortable as well. Location was good for us, as we walked and used the underground a lot. Great trip.

From check in to check out, everything was five star service. I requested Easter baskets for my children since we stayed over Easter weekend. Sophie beyond delivered, catering to my children’s individual interests. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable with the staff ensuring we came back to lovely treats every night. We will definitely make a return visit someday.

Our stay at The Rubens at the Palace was like stepping into a fairytale! The place is absolutely amazing, beautiful, elegant, and full of charm. The service was beyond wonderful. We loved every moment, especially the warm smiles from the staff, they truly make you feel at home. We didn’t want to leave! Raj, in particular, was amazing, he was the first to welcome us and the last to say goodbye. If we return to London, there’s no doubt, we’re staying here again!

I just returned from an amazing 6 nights at The Rubens. My trip was for business and at the last minute, I had to bring my baby along. This worried me greatly, but thanks to the wonderful staff of the hotel, my week went off without a hitch. The staff couldn't have been any kinder, more helpful, or professional. From the moment we arrived, special attention was paid to the baby and any assistance I needed. There is no doubt that I will be returning to this hotel. It has won a special place in my heart.

Our package at the Rubens at the Palace let my mother and me live like a queen. From the flowers in the room, the beautiful suite, the daily high tea, the staff - everything was a deluxe vacation opportunity. My previous vacations to London pale in comparison to this experience.

The concierge was wonderful and went out of his way to come check on us and see how our day our was turning out. It made us feel very welcome and almost like family! The room was very comfortable, the food in the bar was great, service was amazing. We'll stay here again!
