The Rubens at the Palace is the closest you'll get to a sleepover with the Queen without a state visit invitation. The hotel is directly across from the royal residence on property that enjoys a colorful past – the Duke of Buckingham lived here in the 1600s, followed by an apothecary and a Court dressmaker. The Rubens, which was built in 1912, housed the Polish army during WWII and gave respite to exiled Charles de Gaulle. The hotel's decadent – and often equally colorful – rooms and suites are a comfortable home base in the epicenter of London.

Excellent service especially from lobby attendant Robert who carried my heavy awkward bag all the way around the block when our airport taxi driver had to park far away.

The Rubens is an old world charm hotel in a perfect location with impeccable service. By London standards the rooms are spacious and clean and the beds are comfortable. With the doorman to greet you and a variety of dining spaces, from the beamed bar, to the tea room to the lovely dining room it feels like a scene from a period movie in the best sense. Given the prices of rooms that we booked across Europe, we found this to be a great value for the location, amenities and service.

When we arrived in London earlier this week the accommodations we had booked in advance at a "homestay" were so horrible we immediately began to look for another place for the last four days of our trip. Our urgent needs included air conditioning and a clean environment- and fortunately a kind employee answered the phone at Rubens at 23:00 on Tuesday night and assured us that Rubens indeed has air conditioning and there were four nights available. We checked in the next morning and were thrilled that Rubens was everything (and more) than we could have imagined. The location is perfect, the rooms were just what we needed- immaculately clean and comfortable, and the air conditioning was lovely. Most importantly, the staff members were kind, efficient, and professional. We were struck by the camaraderie of the employees who seemed to genuinely like their jobs and co-workers. We were traveling with a 3 year old who was enamored with the gift of a stuffed bear that he cared for, and the staff members that greeted him each time we came through the lobby. There is only one caveat- because the building is quite old, the rooms are not large and the elevators are quite small. These were not problems for us, however.

I just returned from an amazing 6 nights at The Rubens. My trip was for business and at the last minute, I had to bring my baby along. This worried me greatly, but thanks to the wonderful staff of the hotel, my week went off without a hitch. The staff couldn't have been any kinder, more helpful, or professional. From the moment we arrived, special attention was paid to the baby and any assistance I needed. There is no doubt that I will be returning to this hotel. It has won a special place in my heart.

Our package at the Rubens at the Palace let my mother and me live like a queen. From the flowers in the room, the beautiful suite, the daily high tea, the staff - everything was a deluxe vacation opportunity. My previous vacations to London pale in comparison to this experience.

I can't say enough about the amazing service at the hotel. Everyone was so friendly and helpful whenever we had questions or needed help. The concierge was wonderful and went out of his way to come check on us and see how our day our was turning out. It made us feel very welcome and almost like family! The room was very comfortable, the food in the bar was great, service was amazing. We'll stay here again!
