Reviews for St. James' Court, A Taj Hotel

Very nice hotel! Friendly service. Breakfast buffet was amazing. Felt like home for 8 days. Had issue with broken a/c when we first got there, it was way too cold & would not turn off, but they got us a new room, & everything was fantastic!

Could have been better

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

On the positive side we found the room to be clean and quiet. The hotel has an enviable location and staff our very welcoming and friendly. What could have been better was the shower… the showerhead wall mount was faulty and didn’t hold the showerhead in a usable position. Also, the main foyer has two lifts but unfortunately only one of them was working throughout our throughout our three night stay, and as the hotel was quite busy this was a little inconvenient. The breakfasts were a chaotic affair too. As there appeared to be plenty of staff but very few were assisting with serving, waitering or cleaning. This is a good hotel… but it could have been fabulous.

WORST HOTEL IN LONDON!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

Wow, where to start? 1st issue:Booked a double bed months in advance in 1st room single bed in 2nd room. Upon arrival, rooms not ready but were by 2. Was given keys to "room with 2 beds". It was 1 bed. Asked 3 times and finally they were separated. 2nd issue - reported and had tech in my room 4 times for TV will not stay on past 1 minute. Never ever worked and I gave up. 3rd and most important issue - sister in law fell in street across from hotel. I rushed in and asked for help from Concierge and was told "10 minutes Mam"! I asked again - "10 minutes Mam"! I then told them HELL NO she is laying in the street! 10 minutes my ass! We were finally able to pick her up and they brought us a wheelchair. They sent over (someone who clearly knows nothing about 1st aide). He told her to stand up and walk around and said "I think you will be just fine "! I said no we are going to the hospital. He has no medical degree and no x-ray vision. We went to the hospital and guess what severe broken leg and broken arm! Doctor said - no matter what - no weight bearing on that leg! But yet the hotel staff member had her trying to walk on it. THIS WAS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! HAD WE LISTENED TO HIM AND FLEW BACK TO USA - SHE COULD HAVE HAD A BLOOD CLOT AND DIED! (We got blood thinners from the hospital to be able to fly home). 4th issue- upon returning from the hospital we ordered room service. I asked for no onions or cheese on hamburger. I received a burger loaded with onions and cheese. I called and reported it, they acknowledged the problem and made another one correctly. 5th issue - they have only 1 wheelchair on premises. We were told "she can use it to got to the bathroom, but must return it - in case someone might need it". Again, not acceptable! They should have 2 wheelchairs for their guests. They refused to let her use it off premises yet we had already done the previous day when we went to the hospital with it. Yet they never said a word. ALL of this was reported to the manager. What we received was apologizes and 2 free cokes. The hotel is noisy all night by slamming of doors and elevator from down the hall. Several times fire alarms went off without any announcements or explanation. We were never compensated or offered any compensation for the rudeness, misinformation, mistakes or the "ill advised" staff. WILL NEVER RECCOMMEND THIS HOTEL OR EVER STAY HERE AGAIN!
