Bad experience and insult for descent attire

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 16 hours ago

Formal Complaint: Discrimination and Unjust Treatment by Security on 02 september 2026 Dear Management Team, I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding a highly distressing incident that occurred at McGettigan's Ajman on 02 september around 11.15 pm Upon entering and after being seated for around 10 mins, I was approached by your security staff and asked to leave. The reason explicitly given by the security guard was my attire. I was wearing an Indian kurti, which is a fully decent, modest, and culturally respected smart-casual outfit. As per your own official dress code guidelines, smart-casual and traditional modest attire are perfectly acceptable. The actions of your security team were not only arbitrary and discriminatory, but they also caused me severe public embarrassment and distress. The security upon questioning he said that the manager at the bar gave him a call and asked him to do so. Me and my friend dint create any scene as he was just doing his job as he was instructed to do so and we left the place . I request an immediate review of the CCTV footage from the entrance/venue during the aforementioned time to identify the security personnel involved. I expect a formal apology, an explanation of the actions being taken against the staff responsible, and clarification on your stance regarding cultural attire. i had visited mcgettigans back in July in the same kind of attire and i was not stopped nor asked to leave. The Indian lady host who served us will still remember us being served. I visited cafe on First at Dusit Thani in the same attire which is a five star hotel for a drink and if they could accept without any hesitation, I would like the concerned staff to give an explanation why was i not allowed when I had seen people in cultural attire visiting mcgettigans without being stopped and served. This is being purely biased and portrays discrimination without being stopped before entering premise nor putting a clear notice of dress code restrictions at the entrance. I look forward to your prompt response before I escalate this matter to the relevant tourism and consumer protection authorities. Sincerely, Poornima Nair Manger -HR & Operations AL Hoot Group 971 54 4091690

Joint birthday celebrations

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

Friends treated us to lunch for our joint 50th & 60th birthdays. I cannot fault the staff, service or food. We were greeted by friendly staff and shown to our table where the menu was explained and a selection of wines suggested. Both food and wine waiters were extremely helpful and happy to stop and chat in between courses to answer any questions we had. The food was incredible and the layered tastes made this an experience we will never forget. Special thanks to our table staff and our wine waiter for the visit to the wine cellar, larger than I had expected with the additional surprise of a little WW2 history at the end of the cellar which has been preserved. 10 out of 10 and a birthday we'll never forget.

A five-star experience in every way

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Our first encounter with the Stafford came about by chance while watching the chef Michael Caines on TV talking about his new residency at the hotel. On our next trip to London this spring, we sought it out but were a little hesitant about waltzing into a five-star hotel unannounced. However, the concierge Robert was very welcoming and offered to show us around, and we decided that day to book three nights in August. To say we did not regret the decision is something of an understatement. We echo the positive comments of other reviewers about the tranquil location, comfortable rooms, and excellent dining, including the indulgent breakfasts. This was our first experience of a five-star hotel in the UK and the Stafford provided all the expected luxuries without being in the least bit ‘grand’ or stuffy. The hotel was originally a terrace of 17th-century townhouses and it retains some of the attributes of a (very upmarket) private residence, which helps create a more relaxed atmosphere. The corridor to our spacious sixth-floor suite (courtesy of a much-appreciated upgrade) was quite compact, shall we say, but that was all part of the charm. It is worth asking to visit the underground tunnels; not only do they house the impressive wine selection but also mementoes from World War Two when the cellars acted as air-raid shelters for American and Canadian officers who used the hotel as a club. We dined in the Michael Caines restaurant and the American Bar (twice), which provided contrasting but complementary experiences. The restaurant was all understated elegance and the Discovery menu (a halfway house between the a la carte and tasting menus) was very good value. The duck and the raspberry sorbet were highlights, and the saucing was top-notch. Sommelier Nuno provided excellent advice, too. The American Bar was really buzzy in the early evenings when we dined there. It is popular with locals after work, and does get busy, but some tables are kept open specially for guests to book. We enjoyed the chicken Milanese; great chips too! Service was five-star as well; efficient and friendly, but not overbearing. Staff were always on hand to offer advice when needed or have a chat, but happy to let us just sit back and relax. Overall, a wonderful experience. We have just opened a London file in anticipation of our next visit! Simon and Chris Reynolds, Worcester, UK

A Gem of a hotel in St James

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The Stafford is elegant, yet warm and friendly, and perfectly located in St. James. I have stayed twice, in early spring (March) and most recently, in August. First I stayed in a mews room and most recently, in a carriage house room overlooking the courtyard-perfect in summer. The American Bar is a favorite, especially in the lovely courtyard. Despite extreme heat outdoors, the room was well air-conditioned and the shady courtyard lovely for visiting. The hotel is near to theatres and many historic sights, including Buckingham Palace and beautiful St. James Park. I highly recommend this lovely hotel and its staff.

The Best Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I spent 5 weeks at The Stafford. It was my first visit. I have stayed at many 5 Star hotels, across the world This is the best hotel I have stayed at. The location is superb, all the hotel staff were attentive, well trained and very friendly. I stayed in a junior suite which was, clean, thoughtfully furnished and very quiet. The bed and the bathroom amenities were perfect. The food served at both the restaurant and the American Bar is top quality. In addition the Hotel is small and very friendly. This makes you feel special and valued.

It's all about the staff at The Stafford! My favorite hotel in London and probably in the world! If you can't stay there stop by the bar...not to be missed. Look it up when you're there.

My cousin and I had the most fabulous trip! The Stafford London was the most perfect, wonderful hotel, and we could not be any happier!

The staff was amazing, and yes, please let Alan and Nick know how much they helped us, as this was my very first trip to London!

We so appreciated the perks, and enjoyed the wine in our room!
