Reviews for The Allegria Hotel

Beautiful room. Make sure to request the quiet wing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Stayed one night on a frigid Saturday night in January. The hotel was undergoing facade repairs, which was fine, I didn't experience any noise. I asked for a room away from the elevators, which I got, and got an ocean facing room which was beautiful. Room 509. Here's what I'd like people booking to be aware of. Some other reviewers have mentioned the same thing, so I was glad for the heads up. When I booked the room, I prepaid all expenses, including "resort fees". You don't get an itemized receipt upon payment. When I checked in, the desk staff told me I owed a "$48 resort fee". I calmly said no, I already paid it. She replied "It's always paid on site, not online". I explained a few times that I already paid it. I was calm but firm. Another staff member came to review the transaction and confirmed that I had already paid the fee. I commented that if I didn't say anything, I'd be paying double. So travelers, be aware of this and stand firm. You get a $20 food/bar voucher when you check in. I used it for take out from the restaurant the next morning, got a yummy French toast. After checking in, I went up to the 5th floor, and as soon as the doors open I see a sign with an arrow "Quiet Wing". My room was not in that wing. Had I known this was an option I'd surely have requested it. But that wing is not ocean-facing, so if you want ocean, you don't get the quiet wing fyi. Room 509 is a connecting room to 510. A couple checked in after me to 510, and then 4 of their friends came and they had a loud drinking party until 10pm. I didn't call the front desk. I sucked it up and put headphones in. Not young people either. So I let them enjoy their night while I sat with headphones. I figured the universe will give me good karma for not being a Karen. The thermostat is digital and I had trouble figuring it, finally put the heat on and it was perfect. Bed and linens are so comfortable. No microwave in room. I noticed there was no shower curtain, but there was a bar across the top of the opening to the shower, as if there should have been one. I called the front desk to inquire if I was missing a curtain. They didn't answer after several tries. Finally a man answered and said no, there's not supposed to be a curtain. I took a shower but it was drafty in the bathroom without a curtain. Even with the heat on. Overall it's a gorgeous hotel, comfortable room. For those who don't know, it has direct access to the Long Beach boardwalk. There's a wonderful restaurant and bar in the hotel, and a gym. I'd stay here again but I'd definitely request the quiet wing.

Beautiful Hotel

My experience at the Allegria Hotel was excellent. The staff at the front desk were so helpful in upgrading me and my family to a room with a view of the ocean. This was the best decision we made that view is beautiful. Recommending to all my friends and family!!

Truly Special Place

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

After an extremely devastating year and a recent family loss I decided to stay at the Allegria hotel for a special event. I am so happy I did because this stay was one of the highlights of my trips. The relaxing views of the beach, and energetic scene of the city view was a balance of peace and celebration. The food at the Atlantica Restaurant next door was creative and delightful. They even had a Mother’s Day Brunch which was so thoughtful. But above all, most of the staff were impeccable! Derrick and Jeanette were absolutely top tier! They were attentive, respectful, and compassionate throughout all of my interactions with them, and will all guest. Thank you Allegria Hotel for helping to make my event feel special.

Bridal Shower was PERFECT!!!!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

I just had my daughter's bridal shower on the rooftop. It was the best experience from beginning to end. Working with Jessie was a total pleasure. She was helpful, informative and on top of everything from the food, prices, seating and decor. Once at the shower, I my point person was Sam. He was also amazing! The staff and bartender were great. Everyone was there to make my day easier and my daughter's day perfect. The food was out on time, was hot and delicious. I have ZERO complaints. I will be back for sure!!

Total disappointment

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

I booked a room at the Allegria for a Mother’s Day weekend special night with my mother and two kids. It was quite expensive ($500+) and unfortunately disappointing. I gave this place 2 stars instead of 1 only because of the nice guys who checked us in and provided us service throughout the night. They were fun and friendly and probably the only reason we didn’t leave. The room itself felt dirty. For that amount of money I expected a beautiful room. The room had a lovely view but that’s about it. Black mold in the shower, multiple patch jobs throughout, stains on the walls, dirty stains along the headboard where the LED light strip lays, cold air blowing through the holes in what looks like used to be sliding windows. The door in our room that connected to the next room was so thin and we could hear the people next door using the bathroom, showering, talking. Clear as day. Felt like there was ZERO privacy. We decided to order food from the onsite restaurant. With tax and tip we paid $80 for a personal pepperoni pizza, wings, a Bavarian pretzel that was rock hard and hollow, and “shrimp cocktail” that looked like 5 great value soggy shrimp. We waited almost an hour for the food and sadly threw most of it away. We came a long way for a special night and unfortunately it was just really disappointing. Won’t be back.
