Delightful stay

Everything was excellent. Check in was quick. Bellmen were prompt. We had need for several days of room service and not only was the food hot and tasty, they delivered faster than the quoted time. The Valet service directed by Willy was absolutely on top of things.

VERY UNCOMFORTABLE MATTRESS

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

The hotel lobby and the bathroom in the room were great! The lobby smelled of beautiful fresh flowers. The room I booked was spacious and clean. The pillows were soft and fluffy. The bed, though extremely white and inviting, was THE MOST UNCOMFORTABLE BED I HAVE EVER SLEPT IN. It was like a box spring with a futon mat on it. I have back issues and it was an awful experience. Then, I was charged an extra $206 at check out for outrageous fees. I expected the Valet charge, but the Urban charges were ridiculous. The Valet men were superb. I left them a tip, but it was less than I’d wanted to leave due to the unexpected expense of $205 at checkout. We were only there 2 nights. I will never stay here again due to the bed.

This hotel is designed to keep you awake…

My bad, should have read previous reviews re noisy parties in Aya Restaurant which is part of the hotel. Management advised that they usually wrap up by 1.30am. Then, the party continued in the room next door until 3.00am. Another guest checking out at reception gave the same feedback and our driver to the airport said the place was well known for the issue. So, if you are looking for a restful sleep, this hotel, by design, will not be for you. Obviously, the business model returns the hotel, and Sofitel, more than the guests that never return.

Will not revisit.

We recently stayed at this hotel for five nights and booked through AE which included $30 pp breakfast daily and a $100 resort credit. Breakfasts were delicious and service excellent but extremely pricy. Our average breakfast for two was $80. Our room was on the 9th floor above the bar and facing Bloomingdale's so no view. The throbbing, screeching noise from the bar in the lobby one night kept us awake until 2am. A call to the desk at midnight didn't help much. Otherwise our room was comfortable.

Have enjoyed Sofitel hotels, but would not stay here again.

If you want a view then you need to book a view room and pay extra. The majority of the rooms are on the Beverley Boulevard side and you look out onto the walls of the Beverley Shopping Centre. This is not a stunning, luxurious hotel. The lobby is quite distinct with its colored lights and contemporary look, but it is completely devoid of creature comforts being dominated by an area with a bar and dance floor which is their trendy night club. There is nowhere to sit and say, enjoy a coffee and have a chat, only low sofas and dreary areas. Our room (7th floor) was small, and the furniture tatty. The bathroom was single sinked with shower in the tub. Lighting was poor. While rooms might have been refurbished, ours was done years ago. Bed was comfortable. The area around the hotel is drab They charge $70 a night for valet parking.
