Restaurant review: solid choice

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 months ago

Atmosphere: Comfortable/cozy. This place is beautifully/tastefully decorated while also being very approachable where people feel they can sit and relax. To me, this is the perfect/ideal combination. Great for a group of friends, family, or a date night. Probably my most favorite location in terms of venue. Parking: There is parking available along the street in front of the hotel and more around the corner (as well as a small parking lot) if needed. When we arrived there were 2 spots available on the street in front of the hotel for our 7:30pm reservation. Dress code: It’s part of the hotel so you see a wide assortment of clothing, leaning more casual. Jeans and a nice top are appropriate. Service: Good. Professional and attentive. Drinks: I had a mocktail which was a homemade earl grey iced tea which was subtle and not very sweet. My husband had a rose recommended to him and enjoyed it. Food: - Pacing: Perfect amount of breathing room between courses so you did not feel rushed or felt like you were waiting too long. - Bread: Nice rustic bread served with local olive oil and salt - Water tip for any restaurant: if you just want tap water, ask for a “carafe d’eau” - Appetizers: I had the burrata with cucumbers, mint, and jalapeños and this was incredibly good. More of a spring dish than a fall dish, but it did not matter because it was hands down delicious. My husband had the the squash/egg/shaved carrot dish. My husband enjoyed it but I found it a bit sweet for my liking. - Mains: We took the waiter’s recommendation. I had the lamb shoulder with quinoa which was a miss in my husband’s and my opinion and combined we did not finish the dish. If you do not like cilantro, steer clear of this dish. I do like cilantro and it was a lot/overpowering for me. The meat was a stew meat consistency (soft/a bit fatty) that I usually like, but the flavoring just missed the mark. My husband had the butcher’s cut with potatoes. For the evening it was a pork tenderloin. It was perfectly cooked, a little pink and very juicy. It comes with this brown sauce and green sauce that worked well with the meat and the piping hot roasted potatoes. - Dessert: We shared 3 scoops of the Ravi’s ice cream which is in the town’s square. Consistency was perfect. Our favorite was the almond flavor which little pieces of almond. Orange blossom flavor was very light (I could not taste it but my husband could). The lavender had a strong but not overpowering taste.

Gorgeous little hotel - 4 1/2 stars

Just returned from a 2 night stay at this beautiful boutique property in a picturesque village in the Luberon. The quiet village is idyllic and the generous sized and newly refurbished rooms are fabulous. The quality bedlinen and Diptique toiletries were much appreciated. A couple of reasons though for not giving it quite 5 stars. The staff we encountered were all friendly but it was a little disorganised at times. A dynamic front of house manager in the dining area could have improved things, no one appeared to be overseeing the staff and liaising with guests. Also we had eagerly awaited the pétanque games as advertised but were told they were unavailable both nights due to a wedding. This was a shame, at least do something instead eg. offer rosé for guests to sip by the pool or a mini guided tour of the village. We enjoyed the Sunday movie night but felt a little forgotten in the backyard with no service - a little generosity such as popcorn or ice creams could have made this experience exceptional. Recommend this hotel, it has potential but the service offering could use a little tweaking.

Very mixed

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 8 months ago

I booked this hotel for my partners birthday and had a very mixed experience. Pros: - The front of house team was exceptionally friendly and helpful. - The hotel is located in a charming town. - The design of the main areas of the hotel was beautifully done. Cons: - The gardeners were mowing the lawn and blowing leaves around the incredibly small pool area past 11am on multiple days, making it a non-relaxing environment. - Food-covered glasses and crockery used by hotel guests were left around the swimming pool for hours, attracting bugs. - The pool was full of bugs and in a dirty condition. - Access to our room required walking through an area that seemed intended for the restaurant but was instead used by staff for meetings and Zoom calls, creating an unwelcoming atmosphere. - Room cleaning was delayed until 5pm, and when it finally happened, it was incomplete with a half-made bed, wet towels on the shower floor, and rubbish left in the bins. Considering the price paid, the overall experience did not meet our expectations.

A hotel not to miss!

We stayed for four nights in August to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary. The hotel was superb, certainly one of the best we have stayed in. The service was excellent with staff going the extra mile for example when we were a little late organising transport to a restaurant we had booked. We loved the bike hire and took the bikes off for an adventure in the mountains seeing two other local towns (Ménerbes and Bonnieux). Again, parts of this trip were recommended by one of the wonderful reception staff who had excellent English and really made us want to explore this beautiful region. The food in the restaurant both for breakfast and we had one dinner there was exquisite. Scrumptious and wonderful that lots of it is source locally. It was just amazing to while away the local streets, peruse the shops and especially the market (Friday morning) and then relax by the pool with drinks. The village of Lourmarin is beautiful and thriving, despite being quite small. It has a wonderful atmosphere and Le Moulin certainly both adds to and appreciates this. A real gem!

Good choice for apertif and dinner

We stayed at Le Galibier and had dinner at Le Moulin, both located in Lourmarin. Nice dinner location offering a good choice in a good quality. DJ and aperitif as evening program during saison gives the terrace a lounge atmosphere.

Just returned from a great stay at Le Moulin de Lourmarin. The town of Loumarin is truly lovely. Food was excellent, wildflowers are out in full bloom...a very friendly staff added to an excellent stay.

Le Moulin de Lourmarin couldn't have been any better! The staff was friendly, helpful, and made us feel as if we were guests in their home. The room was lovely with a view of the chateau from the living area windows, and definitely had the feel of being in an apartment. The food! What can I say about the food other than it was exceptional! Every thing we ate was delicious! The town is charming, exactly what you think of when you think of Provence. We can not say enough good things about Le Moulin. We are already talking about when we can make a return visit!
