About the Hotel

In the ancient capital of Laos is a resort of extraordinary brilliance—Belmond La Résidence Phou Vao is shrouded in leafy wonderment high atop the Hill of Kites in Luang Prabang. With views of colliding rivers, soaring mountains, and ancient temples, this luxury resort embraces its Asian history and French influences. The collection of rooms and suites are exquisitely appointed eschewing ornate embellishments and opting for cleaner and more calming motifs. Terrazo baths, rich organic cottons, spacious surroundings and plush textiles are just a few of the unexpected pleasures concealed behind closed doors. Large picture windows frame seemingly airbrushed views of the breathtaking landscape.

Not sure where to start but honestly this place is SPECTACULAR. We can’t recommend it highly enough. We had a family of 8’people and we thoroughly enjoyed our time so much. The attention to detail and service is impeccable. You won’t regret booking this place ! The restaurant and restaurant staff are wonderful, food is amazing! Big shout out to Andre the chef, Min the sommelier and Lai. Also reception staff Lae and Bae. Also thank you to Mandal for our AMAZING sunset cruise. Luang Prabang is a treasure. We didn’t want to leave La Résidence

Very Nice colonial type of Hotel - Very good service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

This hotel is beautiful and has a lit of charm. Its building ate from the colonial time and the rooms and public spaces are nicely appointed . It is a little outside town but this has not been a problem as they provide a shuttle which is very efficient. If the shuttle is not available it is very easy to order a tuk tuk . The ride from the hotel to the center costs 50 000 kips that is about 5 USD. The food is good but choices are limited. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, they are extremely courteous and always trying to please. The activities are well organised. We especially enjoyed the excursion on the Mekong and to the Buddahs caves

Amazing food and service!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 months ago

We had dinner and it was one of the best meals we’ve had in Laos! Min recommended wonderful dishes with nice wines that go along with it, and it was all in all an amazing experience! The food and service were on such a high level. The fried eggplant, the prawns, mango sticky rice and sesame balls were so so delicious and perfect portione. I would highly recommend it! Thank you Saw, Min and their team!

Anniversary Dinner

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 months ago

We celebrated our anniversary dinner at Phou Vao and it was truly unforgettable. Saw, Min, and their team took exceptional care of us and thought of every detail. From arranging our pickup and drop-off to providing outstanding service throughout the evening, everything was seamless. The food and beverages were excellent, and the views over the mountains were absolutely stunning. You really can’t go wrong—Saw and Min will make sure you are perfectly taken care of.

Wonderful!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 months ago

Incredible location, staff, service. Would consider going back just for the breakfast and kao soi! We arrived after/during some renovations and the place was wonderfully not crowded. Walking distance to temples/town but away from the tourists/noise. Friendly transport service always available upon request. Rooms were ample, comfortable bed/bath. Generally quiet except for some ongoing construction, nearby cow and rooster. Nice view and glorious plantings/flowers. It was a splurge for us but the value still seems good. Super clean, perhaps more housecleaning than needed - hotel could consider environmental options. Wonderful little extras like glass-bottled water, snacks, toiletries and natural bug spray. Would definitely recommend!
