Deep in the lush Andean cloud forest, Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel enjoys an exclusive location in Peru's Machu Picchu sanctuary. Its meandering pathways are lined with cozy whitewashed cottages constructed from local materials, creating the atmosphere of a charming village. Colorful regional crafts and authentic pre-Columbian artifacts bring the local culture and history to life, while the glass-walled main dining room and its adjacent terraces showcase the glorious landscape, including the rapid-flowing Urubamba River.

After staying at the Inkaterra Hacienda Conception in the jungle and the Inkaterra Urubamba in the Sacred Valley, which were both excellent, we had high hopes for this hotel. The hotel grounds are attractive and we were given a room upgrade (room 28). The room was spacious and characterful with its open fire and wooden beams. However the bathroom was in need of updating. We had dinner at the hotel and the food and service were okay, but nothing special. Our major disappointment came at breakfast time. The restaurant was packed with clients (understandable as everyone is wanting an early start to get to the bus stop). But the staff were overwhelmed and totally unable to cope with the demand. My husband and I ordered omelettes. We waited for 30 minutes before another waiter came up with a menu to take our order, thinking we hadn't been served. Eventually we received one of the two omelettes we'd ordered and when we enquired about the second one, the waiter was rude to my husband and insisted only one was ordered. The dining experiences at the other two Inkaterra hotels we stayed at was in a completely different league to this hotel. The breakfast buffet here was without any juice when we arrived and lots of the food items hadn't been replenished by the dining room staff. I would give the breakfast experience a one star review unfortunately!!!

Beautiful hotel and grounds that is well-located to Machu Picchu pueblo and the buses to the main site. Dinner in the hotel was fine, though there may be better options outside of the hotel. There are a lot of experiences that the hotel runs, but we were not there long enough to enjoy them.

We had a truly wonderful stay at Inkaterra Pueblo. The property is absolutely beautiful, with a strong eco friendly feel throughout. We loved the lush greenery, the calming sound of water flowing alongside the stairways, and the overall connection to nature. Morning birdwatching and walking the nature trails were definite highlights and made the experience feel immersive and peaceful. One of our favorite moments was lunch at the café across the railway track. The setting by the Urubamba River was stunning, and the vegetarian salad and quinoa risotto were excellent. Enjoying such a lovely meal with river views made the experience even more special. The service was outstanding from start to finish. Every team member went above and beyond, and we truly appreciated the flexibility with an earlier check in and a slightly later check out. Being able to use the spa bathroom to shower even after checking out was incredibly convenient and much appreciated. Overall, we loved the vibe, the setting, and the hospitality. Inkaterra Pueblo offers a beautiful, serene experience, and we would happily stay here again.

As a Hyatt Globalist the partnership should result in upgrades which in my case did not happen. After check-in and reviewing the provided room, we asked about upgrade options. They claimed we had already been upgraded to the next category. They then gave us another option in the original booked category which was larger, better situated (more privacy) and generally made a better impression. As there were many other rooms and higher categories bookable for our 1 night stay I don’t accept the “upon availability” clause and arguments. I would have even thrown more money at this accommodation, however the front desk agents did not even consider offering this as a solution. We are not talking about a budget hotel, this property claims to be a 5 star location. With nightly rates around $600 and more you would expect a different treatment.

Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel is the perfect Andean escape—an oasis of calm just five minutes from the lively town of Aguas Calientes. The town itself doesn’t offer much beyond shops and restaurants (the real star is, of course, Machu Picchu), but the hotel feels like its own magical world tucked into lush cloud forest and backed by dramatic mountain views. We stayed three nights so we could experience two different tours of Machu Picchu, both absolutely fantastic. In hindsight, we would have transferred back to the Sacred Valley on the third night—but staying at Inkaterra certainly made the decision a close call! Accommodation is in individual casitas scattered through the forest. Ours was spacious, rustic in the best possible way, and came with a great bathroom. Thoughtful touches like hot water bottles and evening treats made it feel wonderfully cozy after long days of exploring. Breakfast and dinner are included, and both were excellent. Dinner is à la carte with plenty of delicious options, and the complimentary afternoon tea was a fantastic pick-me-up after hiking around Machu Picchu all morning. The setting—surrounded by greenery and birdsong—made every meal feel special. One of the highlights of the property is its nature trails. We joined the tea and orchid tour with one of the hotel’s interesting & informed guides, which was superb. With over 370 native orchid species and three tranquil ponds surrounded by loungers and seating, the grounds truly feel like a botanical sanctuary. It’s the perfect place to unwind far from the bustle of Aguas Calientes. The Inkaterra experience begins the moment you step off the train: friendly staff greet you, handle your luggage, and walk you to the hotel. And it ends with the same level of care as they escort you back, help with check-in, and send you off with warm smiles. Every staff member we met was helpful, thoughtful, and genuinely welcoming. A wonderful experience from start to finish. Well done—and thank you—Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel!
