Sumaq Hotel - The place to stay while visiting Machu Picchu

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Sumaq Hotel was a great place to stay during our visit to Machu Picchu. Located on the main street in Agua Caliente, a short walk from the bus and train stations. The hotel was lovely, very clean, quiet and on the smaller side which we prefer. Families, couples and solo travellers were staying at the hotel. It is part of the Virtuoso Group, as is our travel agent, so we were given an upgraded room with a separate tub which my partner prefers. The room was large, well appointed, and the bed was extremely comfortable. We were quite tired after our day-long walk to Machu Picchu from mile marker 104 and were so grateful for the excellent massages provided by Eva and Mary. Highly recommend making reservations with them! The food was quite good. Dinner was a set 3 course meal with choices for appetizer, main and dessert. The bar was located in the lobby and had a welcoming, laidback vibe with lots of soft furnishings and a large tv. All in all, I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a higher end hotel during a visit to Machu Picchu!
