Comfy Machu Picchu stop

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 hours ago

This was our 3rd stop on our Peru trip and after a week of more rustic hotels, it was nice to have a more full service, luxury stop. Arrival at the train and check in were very hectic and unorganized. When we got to the hotel, there were tons of people trying to check in. They try and direct your party to a place to sit so they can explain things to you. However, several large groups were there and they just were lounging all over the check in area so it was loud and no one knew what was going on. The staff seemed indifferent and clueless. The rooms were a nice size and nicely appointed. The shower a welcome respite after the Amazon showers. The best part was the shoe cleaning service. You left your hiking shoes in a cute basket and they came back spotless the next morning. Wonderful after the rain and mud. We ate all our meals in the hotel. . There are tons of little places in the town, if you want a more local, rustic meal but the hotel has a large and actually very good menu. We arrived late afternoon on one day and stayed 2 nights. There is no reason to stay any longer, but adding the second night means being able to get up and get to Machu Picchu easily. We had lunch on our second day after a morning at Machu Picchu and were on our way. I would recommend this hotel if you are staying overnight there.

A Warm, Luxury Welcome

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

From the moment we arrived, tired after a long day of trekking, the staff at Sumaq made us feel truly at home, meeting every request, big or small, with genuine warmth and care. This is five star luxury done right: spacious, elegant rooms with every comfort, an excellent restaurant with a menu that respects local flavors and a design that is modern yet deeply rooted in Peruvian culture, warm and never generic. A truly special touch: the staff surprised me with a lovely gesture in my room for my birthday, making the stay unforgettable. Attentive, authentic, and genuinely luxurious. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Machu Picchu.

Beautiful hotel. An utterly fantastic massage from Mary, and great dinner service from Roger who was very accommodating of my dietary requirements! The front desk staff, David and Shirley, was also wonderful. Thank you all for a brilliant stay!
