Belmond Reid's Palace

I stayed 4 nights with my cousins in a suite The room is very large and comfortable with lovely balcony overlooking the sea The bed is very large and comfortable and the amenities very good . Tea and coffee making facilities. On arrival a cake and Madeira wine to savour . The bathroom is very large with separate toilet and plenty of space for toiletries.had a bath and good shower . Decor is generally a little dated and the TV stand at the end of the bed an eyesore and unnecessary. There is plenty of closet space and a good size safe . Has a steamer and Dyson hairdryer. Very well appointed. Breakfast buffet was amazing and staff really lovely. There are 2 pools and you can go into the sea right at the bottom of the cliff. All very beautiful and well maintained. The restaurant William was very good and tasty food . The chef came to our table and as was a special occasion had a delicious birthday cake Only 10 minutes but car to the centre of Funchal The spa was fantastic too as I had a wonderful facial there . All very clean A very good choice so would definitely recommend and all the staff were amazing

This was our fifth visit to Reid’s and it never fails to impress with its quality and brilliant staff

Our fourth visit (we are just new boys compared to some veteran returnees) to Reid’s offers a home away from home. We arrive and feel like we belong and are welcome ! From room selection to dining choices and even deckchair allocation we know the layout of Reid’s ..... and Reid’s know how to meet our choices and expectations. Staff (including the calm and professional reception team Benjamin/Joaio, the dedicated pool staff lead by Helder and of course the irrepressible Lucia) are always on call to ensure a comfortable stay. The geography and topography of Reid’s suggests that it's only for the fittest and most agile - but that is a myth….just don’t leave anything you need in your room, as it’s likely to be a fair way away from where you currently are…..but navigating a tour through the manicured gardens and palatial public rooms makes every journey worthwhile ! Even the evening entertainment ( a classical recital one night, a pleasant trio another) after a variety of good local meals, is aimed to make you feel relaxed and cherished. We look forward to a return visit as and when….but hopefully soon.

First class experience. Got a seat on the balcony right up at the railings. Service was polite and friendly. Food was excellent. A stunning experience.

A fabulous, special experience! Ignore any negative reviews, this is a wonderful and delicious afternoon tea! We were made to feel very special from the moment we arrived and nothing was too much trouble. Excellent service at all times. The food was delicious and we were constantly asked if we wanted more of anything. Yes it may be a little pricey but with out a doubt worth every penny! Loved every moment!
