From the moment you step into this truly magnificent hotel, you feel special. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Facilities are excellent, all very comfortable and tastefully decorated. It manages to keep its past history without looking dated. Breakfast is very good with plenty of choice. Thank you for an excellent holiday.

Reid’s Palace is truly the best hotel in Madeira! From the moment we arrived, it felt like stepping into another era,in the best possible way. The hotel’s history and colonial charm are incredible. It’s traditional, but never old‑fashioned. Everything feels beautifully curated and perfectly maintained, with gorgeous original features everywhere you look. We arranged the hotel’s airport transfer, which was so convenient and welcoming. Our driver was lovely, and the thoughtful basket of provisions (orange juice, biscuits, and more) for our journey was a really nice touch. Our room was spacious, elegant, and had the most spectacular sea view over Funchal. Honestly, everywhere you turn here there’s another postcard‑worthy view. The gardens are immaculate, clearly tended with real care and pride. Breakfast each morning was a highlight, not only for the incredible food but also the outstanding service. Lucia and Petra brought so much humour and warmth to every morning, always brightening the day with smiles and laughter. On one occasion, the Financial Times wasn’t available, but the team turned a small hiccup into a memorable moment. They handled it with such grace, especially Federico, who remedied everything with true professionalism. It’s this kind of genuine and thoughtful service that makes Reid’s Palace so special. Seeing Lucia each morning was a joy; she took such good care of us and made light of the previous situation my making sure we had our own copy of the FT each morning, thank you so much Lucia and Petra for making us feel so much at home and taking such good care of us, it really made our trip! In the evenings, we loved the little turn‑down surprises, keepsakes like luggage tags or writing pads that showed the hotel’s wonderful attention to detail. We joined several of the hotel experiences, including a tour of the Churchill Suite, spa treatments, and the remarkable garden tour. The lady leading it (I wish I had her name!) was so passionate and knowledgeable about both the plants and the island’s history,it was such a treat. The hotel’s complimentary shuttle into town was also very convenient. There was one small mix‑up with a sunrise excursion booked through an external company, but the hotel acted swiftly to arrange an alternative and followed up personally to apologise, another example of exceptional service. A special mention to Patricia, the Assistant Manager, who went out of her way to help us find quiet work spaces and made sure we were looked after during the guest happy hour. Pedro, our waiter, and the restaurant manager (sadly, I didn’t catch his name) were wonderful, friendly, funny, and full of great recommendations for poncha and Madeira highlights. Finally, the housekeeping team deserves huge thanks, they worked tirelessly each morning and evening, and it truly showed. If you’re debating whether to book Reid’s Palace, don’t hesitate. The setting, the service, and above all, the staff, make this grand old hotel a masterpiece of timeless luxury. We can’t wait to return!

Reid's is everything it's reputed to be. The service is the best I've ever had (I've visited over 100 countries). It's gorgeously situated. We did feel the Cipriani Restaurant was over-priced although the service was great and the portions were generous.

Once you have stayed here and experienced the luxury and service which sets this hotel apart from any on the island, you’ll never stay anywhere else. Unrivalled location, secret seats in the gardens, peace and tranquility. Massive shout out to Joana, Guest Services. If I ran an hotel, you’d be first on my list.

This place kept getting recommended to us by various people so we thought we would try it for some winter sun. We will 100% return!! The service, the food, the ambiance, everything was divine!! We popped over for a three night break to see what we thought and really didn’t want to leave! Highly recommend if you are looking for somewhere to recharge your batteries. The spa was also amazing!!

An extraordinary value! Reid's Palace Hotel is a handsome historic property featuring breathtaking water views, exotic gardens, a full range of amenities and delicious and varied food options. We found the staff to be very helpful and dedicated to making our 4-day stay with them a holiday in every sense. We appreciated the extra attention the staff paid to getting us in and out of the airport, circumventing the crowds and shortening our travel and wait times. This is Luxury Link at its best.
