Hotel Hospes Puerta de Alcala in Madrid, Spain
Hospes Madrid is synonymous with Central Madrid. Overlooking the Puerta de Alcalá, a Neo-classical monument in Independence Square that was once a gateway through the medieval city wall, this breezy boutique is walking distance to many of Madrid’s main attractions. The Thyssen-Bornemisza is five minutes away, and the transition from a day at the museums to bedtime is easy: Rooms are a chic blend of modern and vintage, where velvets, metallics and a soothing color palate of mauve and gray accentuate the building’s original 19th century architectural details.
Shop the Salamanca District at a leisurely pace, stopping to admire the ornate doors that grace many of the area’s old buildings. Stroll down Calle de Jose Ortega y Gasset, the city’s equivalent of Rodeo Drive. Rest amid natural beauty – the lush green wall at CaixaForum is nearly 80 feet tall, and alive with 205 types of plants. Snack on olives, meatballs and sautéed prawns at the hotel’s tapas bar before a flamenco fiesta in Santa Ana.

Reviews for Hotel Hospes Puerta de Alcala
recently refurbished hotel in a very nice location: plaza de la independencia is full of nice bars restaurants and cafeterias, all worth visiting, day and night. also the RETIRO park is just across the « plaza » which is perfect for a morning run or walk. rooms are nicely decorated, there is a small gym, pool and spa which is fine and does the job. food is fine. what stands out is the kindness and efficiency of the staff, and this makes one’s stay much better. I will come back.

A fabulous boutique hotel. Modern spacious rooms with comfortable beds and huge walk-in shower. Good selection on offer from the breakfast buffet and hot options to order from the menu. All the staff were courteous and attentive nothing was too much trouble. Loved the restaurant and bars outside, great atmosphere day/evenings. Excellent restaurants and cafes within a few minutes walk from the hotel. Madrid city tour bus stop outside the hotel and the beautiful Retiro Park is adjacent to the hotel. I would highly recommend this little gem of a hotel to family and friends.

What a wonderful hotel! I spent a long time researching accommodation in Madrid and I was so happy with my choice. The location was fabulous lots of bars and cafes on the doorstep and opposite the beautiful El Retiro Park. The rooms were beautifully designed, light and airy. The staff were friendly and accommodating especially Roberto Figueiras - who displayed excellent customer services to myself and my partner. With even arranging a bottle of Cava to celebrate our anniversary! He pointed out local landmarks and hidden gems to explore during our time in Madrid. Thanks Roberto! I would highly recommend this hotel and would stay again. The only reason I didn’t rate 5 stars is that we were not supplied with any complimentary water in our room and had to pay €6 for a bottle. Something as a 5* Hotel I would expect to be supplied in the rooms.

Great location to reach most of central Madrid. Across from a large park for walking. Good buffet breakfast and an attentive staff. You can eat outside if the weather is nice and people watch. Our room had modern fixtures and a comfortable bed. Could see using this hotel for business or for holiday. Close to the metro and to the On and Off Buses. Would recommend to others and go again.

Quality means that all aspects of the service is great and this was the case with Hospes in Madrid. We stayed there for two periods in August. The service from the greeting to the farewell was fantastic. The team couldn't do enough for you. We had to confirm a tour of Andalucia and the desk had trouble getting through to the tour company, but kept trying until they did. They went out onto the street to fetch cabs and organised an early breakfast for our room because the kitchen wasn't open when we were leaving. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were quite large so plenty of room for cases and they contained everything you needed. The restaurant out the front was exceptional. The location is a little bit from the main shopping / walking area, but not too far. We did catch cabs a couple of times from the Grand Via but it was only a few Euros ... the legs were getting tired after 5 weeks of travelling. Breakfast was good and the setting out in the little courtyard was nice. The Retiro Park is just across the road and the Prado only about 1km away. Would go back there again if in Madrid.
