Sleep ruined by disco bar next door. Generally, not a 5 star Hotel experience. Would not return.

We stayed in June 2025 in a premium room at the front of the hotel, overlooking the busy street. We selected the hotel based on a previous good experience in Hospes Valencia (albeit in their best room). The room was on the large size: somewhat minimal & monochromatic, which tends to be the style of the Hospes Hotels I have stayed in. The big problem was noise. Be warned there is a LOUD disco bar next door with music until the early hours. If you are in any way noise sensitive this is not the hotel for you. There are shutters on the window, but these do not keep the noise out. Breakfast is in a basement and in not really 5* standard. A minimal experience in a functional space. The individual staff are pleasant, but no evidence of a management presence. The location has benefits, beside the park and underground, good restaurants & shopping in walking distance. But beware, you are on a busy road, with nightlife under your window. We would not select this hotel again.

Top notch

Lovely property with close proximity to el parque de Retiro and Gran via. Service was very professional. They really tailored to our needs and made us feel special as Bonvoy members. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and were upgraded to a lovey suite with many amenites.

Situated in the very heart of Madrid at the Plaza de la Independencia, the Hotel Hospes Puerta de Alcalá offers travellers an outstanding combination of location, comfort, and service. Rooms are spacious and beautifully designed, featuring refined décor with a personal and sophisticated touch. The service is impeccable — professional, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. With its proximity to Madrid’s main attractions, luxurious ambiance, and exceptional hospitality, this hotel is undoubtedly one of the best choices for an elegant stay in the Spanish capital.

Such a disappointment

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We booked this hotel having stayed at Hospes elsewhere in Spain, so very disappointed to report our experience with this one. Our room was on the 2nd floor overlooking the street and the famous arch, but unfortunately with the two restaurants on the pavement below our windows open until 2AM and then glass recycling collections from 7AM meant sleep was difficult to come by. Not acceptable at nearly EUR1,100 room only for 3 nights with no warning/alternative offered The bedroom was well equipped (although the television is hard to use as others have remarked, and mattress too small for its base, so we kept stubbing toes) and although the in the bath is wonderful, there are no towel rails, so despite the hotel claiming the usual green credentials, it's actually not possible to keep the towels on the go because there is nowhere to hang them. Unfortunately we also had a problem with our first night restaurant booking, where we had confirmed 7 course tasting menu for the two of us with reception prior to arrival, but on the evening in question the restaurant claims to know nothing about or reservation and not have that option on their menu. Excellent location for the park and museums and to walk to the famous sites of the City.

Magnificent Hotel

This hotel was FANTASTIC! This was our second stay here following our tour of the Andalusian Region with Wheel and Anchor. Cannot say enough about this hotel’s cleanliness, location, rooms and staff. Very highly recommend!
