Great hotel in an amazing spot, in Madrid's old town. A lovely square right outside for tapas and Rioja. Nice interiors and good service. Breakfast is good though maybe could do with a bit more choice. Not much of a bar in the hotel but you don't need it because so there's so much right on your door step. Overall, thoroughly recommended.

This elegant and friendly hotel is conveniently situated between the Prado and the Royal Palace, near the Plaza Mayor and Puerto del Sol. You can walk everywhere. Hotel check in was efficient and polite with complementary fruit water, coffee, and teas. Reception upgraded us to a loft-style junior suite complete with a large foyer and balcony overlooking the street. It was an impressive room. The suite boasted a large, elegant bathroom on the first floor that was loaded with upscale bath amenities, plush cotton towels, and robes. We also appreciated the firm, but not too firm, queen size mattress and upscale bed linens. The minibar was well-stocked with craft local gin and tonic (the official cocktail of Madrid) and Spanish wines. The service at this hotel is excellent. For some reason, the hotel sent complimentary champagne and a tray of sweets to our room (no special occasion), and the evening turndown service included towels, slippers, bedside bottled water, and chocolate. If there was street noise, I barely heard it, and we slept undisturbed until 10am. Breakfast was lavish with many international and local choices. My personal favorite was the global selection of gourmet course salts to enjoy with your traditional bread and tomato sauce. But there were also local yogurts, fresh squeezed juices, pastries, and steaming pots of eggs cooked in a variety of ways. In summary, we felt like we had stayed at a $500 a night hotel for $200.

Great location. Near the Plaza de Angel. Lots of great shopping and restaurants in the area. The room had a nice little balcony and was clean. I'd say it was the best hotel we stayed in on our trip. It wasn't too far away from the Prado Museum. About a 10 minute walk. The concierge was very helpful in getting us online tickets for the Prado on the afternoon we arrived, so as to avoid waiting in the line. The front desk was helpful for restaurant suggestions. The hotel has a small gym to do a workout in, and has complimentary water. It also has complimentary newspapers. I requested the NY Times, and it was in front of my door the next morning. The room wasn't large, but it fulfilled our needs. Noise wasn't really an issue, but it's important to close both the glass balcony doors, as well as the wooden shutters in order to block out the street noise. If you do both, you should be fine. The view from the balcony was very nice.

Though the hotel is situated at the heart of Madrid, but his charm. The hotel is beautifully restored from old ruins. Has a great rustic look with modern amenities. Worth experiencing. Only downside, it does not have a gym within the hotel.

In the heart of Historic Madrid, walking distance to the Prado, etc. Staff was great. David helped us with our limited public transportation knowledge for a day trip to Segovia, his details and instructions were spot on, a nice benefit for us.
