Reviews for Rosewood Villa Magna

The go-to hotel in Madrid

Majestic, high standard rooms, good restaurant, good vibe and a nice clientele. You can perfectly spend the afternoon at the hotel. Wonderful location and a walking distance from Salamanca's happening streets, shops and restaurants. Recommended

Very expensive old fashioned mediocre hotel

The hotel is very old fashioned and out if date. I took the Villa Magna suite and it is the most underwhelming room i have ever e stayed in for a quite exorbitant price. The service is good and the food is good but nothing outstanding . The check in experience was also very mediocre and there is nothing in the room to welcome you , no wine , chocolates or anything. This place feels like a posh 4 star rather than a top 5 star . Having stayed recently in some of the top brands this was a huge let down Rooms 5 Service 7 Facilities 8 Food 7 Overall 7/10 and at a high price

Luxurious Oasis in the Heart of Salamanca Madrid

I was so impressed with this beautiful hotel. Rosewood properties always set a high bar, in terms of design, dining, operations, service - refined, classy and overall excellent. The Rosewood Villa Magna didn't disappoint, excelling in all of those same areas - but the staff here were notably in a class all their own. From check in (Lola was incredibly helpful and accommodating, when I arrived extra early following an overnight flight) - to bar service (the staff at Tarde.O made a point to remember my name and other details about my travels, each day - recommending local spots and/or other day-trips from Madrid) - to concierge support (both Pablo and Antonio provided restaurant and service recommendations whenever needed, and handled bookings with grace). Also impressive? The cleaning service: there were so many thoughtful touches throughout my stay (for instance - I had a few pairs of sunglasses lying out on the desk when I left the room for the day - came back to them being nicely organized on a cloth napkin, with a glasses cleaning cloth placed nearby. And when my plug adapters and various cords for my multiple devices were all over the room - I came back to tidy cord-management I wish that I could have in my own home :-). It will be tough to follow that level of service, as I continue my travels throughout Spain this month - will definitely seek out this property when I come back through Madrid!

Re : Nice Hotel in Madrid

I need to make a last minute urgent change of hotel and decided on Rosewood Villa Magna. After a few email correspondence, I was able to book online and my helpful agent also add the Virtuoso amenities for me. Arrival My flight landed from Dubai and thanks to Emirates generous benefits, round trip airport transfer is included in my ticket as well. The driver dropped me at Villa Magna Rosewood. I was shown to the check-in desk upon arrival. My first impression was that the hotel was extremely busy and the reception lobby was very crowded. Nevertheless, after a short wait I was able to check-in. The reception apologised for not being able to upgrade me as the hotel was “very full” due to high occupancy. There’s a champion’s league football game just the day before. Afterwards, I did a quick check and the upgraded room ( ie Junior suite ) was actually available for booking online but I did not press the matter as it’s really just a small difference between my Grand Premier Room and the Junior Suite. A guest relationship manager by the name of Angel ( or is it Domenic? ) greeted me and showed me to my room. The Grand Premier Room. This room measures a spacious 45sqm. It has small windows with view facing the main street. The decoration is very art deco style. Unfortunately, it reminds me of Rosewood London which I had a bad experience. Nevertheless, all the amenities are there, including a small sitting area, a minibar, working desk, high definition TV that can be easily connected to an AppleTV. The bathroom has very strong water pressure, so it’s like showering under a waterfall. There’s also a bathtub. Toiletries comes in small little tubes which were very annoying because they keep toppling over. Should have placed them on the wall with bottles. Overall, I think the room is not as nice as I like. The black/white décor gave it a hospital feel, could have been more cheerful. I don’t like the small windows that makes the room feels claustrophobic. I do like the water pressure of the shower. Common Areas and Location I was surprised how the hotel was actually smaller that it seems. Before I selected the hotel, I preview their website and various youtube videos and got the impression that the hotel was quite big. It’s actually much smaller than I expected. Upon entering the hotel is the reception area and concierge desk. Right behind the reception area is the lounge area which connects to two restaurants, the Amos fine dining restaurant and the Brasserie, where I had my morning breakfast. In the basement is the spa and a small gym. And that’s it. It feels very boutique in that sense. My only experience with the hotel’s F&B is in-room dinning and morning breakfast. They are of decent quality. The coffee is good though. I also tried their small gym which is entirely self service. Whether the location of the hotel is good or not depends on what you want to do. For shopping, it’s quite good as right behind the hotel is the Serrano streets with all the shops and boutiques, both luxury brands and common brands. If for sightseeing then it’s a manageable 25 mins walking through some very nice streets to all the historic monuments and sights. If one doesn’t want to walk, taxis are plentiful in Madrid and not very expensive. Service Despite running at near full occupancy, the hotel staff response to my request was very quick and efficient. Usually not talking longer than 10 mins. Service at both check-in and check-out was fine but involved a bit of waiting due to the high occupancy. After check-out the hotel even let me use their house car to transfer me to the next hotel as I have a lot of luggage. It’s a very nice BMW i7. Some of the staff are not so fluent in English but that was expected as in Madrid, English is less commonly spoken. Conclusion The stay was fine. Unfortunately, most of the time I end up sleeping in the hotel room as I was feeling unwell but when I did use the hotel facilities and service, it’s up to expectation. I probably overpaid for this room at more than a thousand Euros a night but that’s not the fault of the hotel but a seasonal thing since it was a peak period. I will rate it 4/5
