We had a nice stay at the Westin. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. There was one issue at checkout, when, at 7am, there was only one person working at reception and about 5 people standing in line. We had to get to the airport and this was a little nerve-wracking. The breakfast bar was very good with everything you could imagine. Our breakfast was included but ordering anything from room service was steep - 32E for a hamburger - I guess that's to be expected. Location is great - about 1.2K to the cathedral and palace, and a couple blocks in the other direction to the park and Prado Museum. The room was comfortable and clean, we slept well, but I was sad to see there was no in room coffee machine.

Spent two nights at this palace hotel. The hotel offered as expected traditional luxury accommodations. Hotel was very busy during our stay as they were hosting a few different corporate events. We found the location to be central with many dining options close by. Overall I consider this hotel a standard European palace hotel (if you have stayed at one before you know what to expect). That being said it wasn't anything exceptional and I can't recall anything special, no staff member putting in any additional effort. For a 5 star it was just ok. Pros: Good location Traditional accommodations with plush beds Cons: Nothing out of the expected experience that would reward this hotel 5 stars Expensive lobby bar, rude stuffy wait staff

I stayed five nights in this hotel in November and I enjoyed it. It is a nice hotel, and close to the center of Madrid. Only a few details to improve : Breakfast was good but no vinegar to put on salad and tomatoes unless you ask No mustard , no chorizo or lomo (we are in Spain) The water pressure of the shower was a litttle limited. Everything else was fine, and I RECOMMAND this hotel

Since you enter the lobby the atmosphere of a great hotel makes you feel good. The check-in, the friendliness of the people at the front desk (several recognize me from prior visits even though it was long time since I have been there), the promptness to offer an upgrade for loyalty makes El Palace by far the best big hotel in Madrid. The bar, the restaurant and the rooms are in pristine condition. The food is as good as I remeber it. The location has been one of the great things this property has. Don't doubt this hotel. It's difficult to find something as good as this in Madrid.
