A Haven of Hospitality: Savoy Resort and Its Shining Stars As a seasoned traveler, uncovering a genuinely remarkable hotel experience is a rarity. But the Savoy Resort surpassed all expectations. Sure, the luxurious rooms were plush (that cloud-like bed was heavenly!), and the sunsets were postcard-perfect. However, the true highlight was the exceptional front desk staff. From the first step inside, I was met with genuine warmth – not just courtesy, but a sincerity that made me feel instantly at home. Abdelfattah and Aleya particularly impressed me. They not only provided clear explanations but also took the time to inquire about my travels and offered personalized recommendations for local gems. It felt like conversing with a knowledgeable friend, not just a hotel staffer. This attentiveness remained consistent throughout my stay. Every interaction, from requesting extra towels to seeking restaurant advice, was handled with a smile and a genuine desire to go the extra mile. The staff made me feel like a valued guest, not just another face in the crowd. In essence, the Savoy isn't merely a stunning hotel; it's a testament to the transformative power of exceptional service. The front desk staff embodies hospitality at its finest. They made my stay not just comfortable, but truly unforgettable. If you seek a place where you feel valued and appreciated, look no further than the Savoy Resort. You won't regret it.

The good, the problematic, the ugly: GOOD: --Excellent location right on gorgeous Beau Vallon beach. Terrific staff with exceptions (see below). Clean, reasonably priced 3 or 4-minus star hotel...definitely not 5-star. --Great food, especially breakfast with huge variety and priced appropriately for Seychelles. --Comprehensive, professional quality spa & gym with showers if room not ready or after checkout. Spa staff absolutely top notch, especially massage therapists. Steam & sauna are some of the best I've tried. Very clean. --Beautiful clean room with large balcony & lovely finishes. Air conditioning functions well. Plenty of hot water with great water pressure. L'Occitane bath amenities a luxurious touch. --In general, service excellent by local, Indian & other Southeast Asian staff. Special appreciation for waitress from Myanmar. Luggage porters awesome. --Fantastic entertainment Saturday night in the beach bar by a pianist and singer whose range and style rival that of many recorded artists...seriously, he was that good! --Gorgeous, lush grounds with free beach chairs, thick towels & stunning large pool. PROBLEMATIC: --Poor maintenance with worn public areas. Needs painting, wooden doors & hinges oiled or rusted metal replaced, especially in spa locker room. --The guest room, spa bathrooms & steam bath had a strong moldy odor. This is the tropics, so some mold is expected, but this level indicates a problem, especially since there are no exhaust fans in guest rooms and spa locker room. --Skimpy, thin towels (1 bath towel per guest). Lumpy pillows & sheets with holes need replacement. --Disorganized check-in process with long wait. --Food servers were warm, friendly but a bit slow. Perhaps short-handed? UGLY: --Russian owned with more than half of guests Russian. That would be fine, but the service and treatment by every Russian staff member was cold, hostile and sub-par compared with the warm, friendly and helpful non-Russian staff. I saw no evidence of preferential treatment of Russian guests despite rumors of this, but their general rudeness and aggressive behavior (even the children!) made for some unpleasant interactions. --Rude, abrupt Russian desk staff with demand for 50 Euros to check out 30 minutes late even on a weekday with many vacant rooms.
