This establishment is in Mal Pais and is up a fairly steep hill. It is not on the beach but close to the beach (c.2+km). To get to a beach, you need to go down the hill and travel just less than 2km. The potholes to get here has a bit of road in between and you do need a mode of transport to get around. So be prepared to rent a car or ATV. Also if you get travel sick, then this may be an issue. Restaurants are generally closed in the really rainy season (Aug to Oct) so likely limited to the eating in the hotel. We found one or two open and they were a welcome change to eating in the hotel (which wasn't bad). Room wise, they (we changed rooms) are clean but open to the wildlife (ants, mosquitoes etc.). Good views, plunge pool, aircon, hammock, comfortable bed.

The attention to detail, the friendly staff, the immaculate grounds and rooms, and last but not least the food are just a few thing that makes this resort hands down one of the best. We would highly recommend! We flew into Liberia then took a flight on Sansa airlines to Tambor, rented a 4w drive car and drove to Mal Pais, a definite truck but absolutely worth it. Keylor and Esteban are two servers who truly care about your preferences and requests. We stayed during the last week of August, also known as the "rain" season, it only rained once every day and that was later at night, making it perfect sleeping weather. We have stayed at 5-star resorts all over the world and nothing compares to this place and the people. We will absolutely be back. Pura Vida!!

I stayed here in August for a week, and I can say this is the best hotel I've stayed at in years. From the hotel itself, to the staff, food, and views, all were amazing. Maria at reception was especially helpful with getting me an atv to get around in, as well as area information. All the staff was friendly, professional, and helpful, from the reception, bartenders, cleaning staff, and management. They were all great. The food was excellent. And the views, you can't beat them anywhere on earth. I highly recommend this hotel. I will be back. Pura Vida

This place is absolutely beautiful and the staff is unbelievable !! The rooms are very clean and gorgeous and the view.... From the minute you walk in you feel welcomed and at home . I will miss Kaylor, Esteban, Jairo, and Jamie (hope I spelled her name right, if not sorry) , after 5 days there, I consider them my friends - their service deserves more stars than TripAdvisor can offer! Not only did they give us pointers of where to go and what to do, but we also traded stories and laughed so hard!! Raul from security also went out of his way to help us one night. And the food... Chef Emilio is so amazing , from breakfast (Gallo Pinto) to the catch of the day , everything is so fresh and local -he even cooked lobster for us one night at our request , it was amazing! I hope to return some day and really hope all my new friends are still there.. loved you guys and loved the hotel! Pura Vida Amigos! Rebeca
