Belmond La Residencia in Mallorca, Spain
Mallorca, Spain is an idyllic island adrift in the Mediterranean, and has long been a popular destination with Europeans. Cradled by the foothills of the Tramuntana Mountains along the island's northwest coast is the spectacular Belmond La Residencia. In addition top its plush rooms and suites, this exquisite hotel hosts an art gallery with a collection of more than 85 works by artists that have all lived and worked nearby. Each unique guest chamber is also a work of art, with some featuring vaulted ceilings and crisp white walls, and others boasting antique furnishings and rough-hewn beams. Spacious suites, including one tucked in a watchtower rumored to have been built by the Templar Knights, are truly magnificent and feature picturesque postcard views.
El Olivo, the hotel's ambient restaurant and former 16th century olive press, features regional fare and international specialties enjoyed by candlelight. Belmond La Residencia has a terrace bar, and also serves a proper afternoon tea complete with traditional scones, clotted cream and dainty finger sandwiches. Recline poolside in a lounge chair and enjoy some refreshing sangria, or head to the tennis courts for an afternoon game. La Residencia Spa features its own indoor pool and menu of carefully chosen treatments that help to relax and soothe. Mallorca is a multi-faceted island, punctuated with rugged hills, shear seaside cliffs, hidden coves, and groves full of plump olives and aromatic citrus. Explore it all while basking in the finest of luxuries at Belmond La Residencia.

Reviews for Belmond La Residencia
My husband and I visited La Residencia earlier this month just for a 2 night break (we live in Bristol, UK - so this is very do-able for us). It was our sixth visit in 12 years and third visit in 3 years! Everytime we consider staying somewhere else we end up with asking ourselves "why would we?"! We love the fact that it's an easy 40 minute drive from Palma airport. The staff are what makes this hotel - it's lovely to see the same staff each year and for them to recognise us. They achieve the perfect balance between professionalism and friendliness and service. We always stay in the main house overlooking the front lawns so I can't review anything else, but waking up with the view of the gardens and Deia is amazing. This is the first time we've not eaten dinner on either night in the hotel (although El Olivo is amazing) and it was purely because we wanted to try a couple of restaurants in the village. However we had pre-dinner and post-dinner drinks at the hotel and the ambience and atmosphere was as lovely as ever. It was a little chilly when we had our post-dinner drinks and the lovely waitress brought out warm fleecy blankets for us! If you are thinking about booking, then just do it - you won't regret it.

We returned for the second time and many of the staff recognised and remembered us from the previous year, it was another great holiday and the hotel was lovely as before. We particularly enjoyed the great breakfasts and the evenings when musicians played in the lounge/bar area. We hd a good experience and intend to return again.

Deia is a great little place, remarkably unspoilt by the annual tourist influx. Residencia is all you could wish and more. Delightful setting, good varied rooms, but most of all, superb staff. Most of the core staff seem to have been around for decades. Relaxed service at all times, but high quality! From reception, housekeeping, breakfast, and pool restaurant, all wonderful. Management from top to bottom of high quality. Residencia is not a destination if money is an object, but I do wish that they would hide the restaurant cover charge in general costs. it's the only thing that I ever hear moans about. Apart from that a great hotel.

This place is truly wonderful - peaceful, classy, understated luxury. The staff could not be more helpful. I would recommend to anyone looking for a special break, it's a real treat. We enjoyed dinner at a local restaurant called Namma which I would recommend to anyone who likes Fusion type food. The nearby Cala Deia is also worth taking a trip down to see, looked nice for a swim.

When you start your stay by having a fabulous meal in your hotel while looking at Joan Miro artwork on the walls, you know you're in for a special treat. The Belmond La Residencia is truly a five star hotel. The room we had was spacious, with a view over the pool to the mountains surrounding the village of Deia. The smell of flowers and fruit trees in bloom added to the atmosphere. The ancient olive trees throughout the property give you a sense of timelessness. The grounds were incredibly well maintained. We spent time at lower pool and in the hot tub even though it was early in the season. The breakfast buffet was superior, both in food and in service. We enjoyed hiking directly from the hotel to the beach in Deia and to the nearby town of Soller. We were wondering if we needed a rental car and found that for us, we did not. The location, while about a 35 minute drive from the airport, was ideal for walking in just an amazingly beautiful area.
