The attention to detail is evident from the moment we entered the grounds of this amazing hotel. A Unesco site from the 17 th century, Son Net allows one to experience living in another century with all the comforts available today. The staff greeted us with smilies and a warm welcome. We were given a private tour of the gardens, pool, gym, dining areas and told of all the amenities Son Net has to offer. Afterwards we were escorted to an outdoor table surrounded by a lush garden with views extending to the hills, while served a welcome glass of cava and olives. The hotel is like an inviting castle with huge arched ceilings, natural stone floors, area rugs, large pulled back curtains, amazing art work everywhere, wooden or iron framed windows overlooking the interior patio and manicured gardens. It has tastefully upholstered, comfortable chairs and couches, long hallways with natural light and open areas to read and relax. The atmosphere is very unique and magical. The gourmet food is delicious utilizing fresh ingredients with many Mallorca traditions in mind. From starters to dessert, the presentation is artistic while everything is mouthwatering and memorable. The selection of wines are also impressive and the attentive servers make wonderful suggestions if you want them. The breakfast setting is absolutely beautiful (inside or al fresco) to enjoy the fresh fruit, breads, local honeys, cheeses, meats and so much more. Our room had the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in and the proof was it was the first time I slept through the night(s) in years. The junior suite has a large bedroom with plenty of seating areas and a view to a courtyard. Its adjoining room is filled with natural light because of the wooden framed sliding glass doors. We loved sitting on its plush sofas and chairs which have views of a beautiful treehouse, the garden and valley. The pool has wonderfully cushioned lounge chairs where one can choose a cabana with easy entry to the large, serene pool. There is also a lower area with a jacuzzi. It is a lot of fun to explore and find hidden gems at Son Net. The clean air, the sound of birds chirping, butterflies and the occasional peregrine falcon flying over the valley, make the pool a fantastic place to relax. There is a bar near a 550 year old Cyprus tree and food can be served to you at the pool or at the restaurants above or below. At noon, the full time pool attendant, surprised us with complimentary chilled, fresh squeezed orange juice in champagne flutes. The attention to detail is more than evident everywhere one is at Son Net. I felt like a princess or better yet the queen. I live in a city where sometimes it can get overrun with tourists to the point of feeling claustrophobic. Son Net is the perfect retreat to reconnect with nature and oneself because it is very tranquil and peaceful. I have never felt so special, welcome and relaxed all at the same time. Son Net is a unique experience in every aspect and a hidden treasure.

A magical property in a stunning setting complimented by very friendly hotel staff will make your stay at the Gran Hotel Son Net memorable. The views from the property of the surrounding hills and mountains are stunning. There is scent of orange and ginger throughout the reception, bar and lounge which adds to the charm of the hotel. Practical matters: The food in the hotel is gourmet level. But there are also a few restaurants in the town (which is a 10 min walk from the hotel). A taxi from the Palma airport to the hotel will cost around EUR 35-40.

We loved our five night stay at the Son Net. So why give it 4 stars? Let me try to explain. The Son Net excels because of the wonderful mountain location, beautifully restored and interior designed public spaces, comfortable rooms, powerful showers, the pool and grounds. All this makes for a wonderfully restful place to relax. Where else are you awoken by the sounds of donkeys and goats in the nearby fields? It's only when you return from the quiet of the countryside to the bustle of Palma that you truly appreciate the bliss that is the Son Net. What a treat to be able to enjoy breakfast on the terrace in early May with beautiful views across the olive groves and fields! Unfortunately it's the lack of precision in service that has robbed the Son Net of its fifth star in our judgement. This was apparent from the moment we arrived early on a Sunday evening. Our car pulled up outside the hotel's front door and we might have expected the bell boy to come out to greet us and carry our bags. But there is no bell boy and we had to walk into the hotel and up to reception to find help. This was not the first time we had to look for help - in fact most encounters require you to do some leg work. Whatever we needed took some effort - getting a drink by the pool or on the terrace, getting missing cutlery at breakfast, setting up a parasol - all required us to go to find help. It was the same on checking out. Our bags were brought down to reception but no one thought about asking if we'd like help to take them to the car. It's always a great idea to make the final experience a memorable one. Our last memory will be schlepping our bags across the gravel courtyard! We were also surprised that the gym was out of order for part of our stay. The barricaded doors looked very out of place. It's not that the staff are unfriendly or unhelpful when asked, in fact they are all quite charming. The front desk team deserve special mention for helping to make restaurant bookings and making various calls for us. Also the bar staff have a good sense of humour and some great cocktails. The cleaning staff too were always smiling and quick to greet us. Don't let this review put you off staying at the Son Net. We'd return tomorrow given the chance. You'll enjoy this idyllic hotel and environment and with luck the service will be a notch better by the time you stay.

One of the greatest hideaways in the beautiful and tranquil 'foothills' of Majorca's mountains which are themselves one of Europe's best kept secrets. The combination of staff, decor, calmness and furnishings at Son Net are truly exceptional as are the paintings. The restaurant is excellent too, This is a very lovely place offering the very best of luxury and tranquility.

This hotel was the perfect choice for our Silver Wedding Anniversary. We know a lot of the island very well, as we have a family owned apartment near the coast, but this area was new to us and a brilliant find. Peaceful and serene. The hotel staff(especially the lovely Patricia) were so friendly and made us feel welcome without being intrusive. Nothing was too much trouble. Excellent dinner in the treehouse for our special evening, our waiter for the evening was excellent(so sorry to have forgotten his name) Our room was nothing short of magnificent. Cannot recommend the hotel enough. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. We hope to stay agin some time, and will certainly visit again to have lunch or dinner.
