Great weekend at the Equinox

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We've stayed here several times before. Prices have gotten quite steep over the last several years. They had a very reasonable price point on Memorial Day weekend. It was a very competitive price, so we stayed Memorial Day weekend. They had a large wedding. It was a real black-tie event. Even at the reception people stayed dressed up. Sometimes weddings can take over an entire hotel, but these people were very well behaved. We had a nice room on the 3'rd floor. We liked the fact that complementarity bottled water was provided. The bed & furnishings were very comfy. Bathroom was very nice. A suggestion would be to provide a bar of soap as we don't like shower gel. There was a "facial" bar, which was too small for bathing. The bed was not too soft, which I find in many hotels & the lines were top notch. For food we had lunch at the Dormy Grill where many golfers were visible on the course. I had the BLT which was outstanding. The Ceasar side salad was also excellent. Richard had the "Crab Cake" which was actually Vegan. He didn't care for it, however. We did do dinner up at Mistrals at Tollgate. This is one of our faves in the area. We would have eaten at Chophouse as their steaks are outstanding, but they are closed Sundays. Breakfast at Marsh Taven was really good. Great Chicken sausage, among other items. Sharon, our server from Dormy Grill took great care of us at both restaurants. The pool was fine, though many more kids than we usually see. I'd suggest making sure pads are on the outdoor lounge chairs as the wood is pretty hard to lay on for long. Overall an excellent stay & we hope to go there again soon.

An Amazing Stay at the Equinox

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We had a wonderful stay at the Equinox Resort when we attended a convention, there. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Randy, the Concierge, was a bonus as he is very knowledgeable about the area and local attractions and has a winning personality. The bellmen (Xavier, Chris) were cheerful and attentive to our needs. There were two desk clerks whose names I didn't take note of who provided excellent service. One was a lady who was at the desk on the morning of Friday, May 3, 2024. The other was a young man who worked the desk on the night of Sunday, May 5, 2024. They were upbeat and positive and went above and beyond our expectations. What a fine time, relaxing on the huge porch and in the courtyard! We look forward to another stay at the Equinox!

Lovely Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I’m surprised reading these reviews since not my experience. I am very fussy and the room and hotel is in great shape. My only complaint is housekeeping comes in to change towels, make the bed and clean wastebaskets daily. I prefer changing daily bedding and cleaning daily. This however is only done on 3 nights staying. Overall very happy with cleanliness and staff. Hotel is maintained very well. Beautiful grounds and area and we would return again.

Wait for a new ownership group

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We used the Equinox as a base for a couple's weekend getaway and booked it based on a dated perception of the resort. Our overall impression is that the property needs a refresh. Our room was big and airy and clean, but rather dated with some low-rent work-arounds. In general, the place reeks of deferred maintenance, and not in the "charming" way. There was an exterior door to the library that was so rotted at the base it broke. It remained that way for our entire visit. The staff was very nice and helpful, but there did not seem to be many of them and service was inconsistent. The place feels like the owners are extracting every last dollar out of it before flipping the property, which is a shame. That said, the spa and pool was very nice, the deck was a great place to catch up on reading with a drink (if the bar was open), and hiking on the adjacent preserve property was awesome.

Not worth the money

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

My mom and I recently stayed here for a quick weekend getaway. I have to say that for the price paid (nearly $400 for the offseason) the hotel is tired and dated. The tub in the bathroom had hair in it upon arriving to the room. Additionally, the AC unit was turned off for the season (May) so the room was incredibly stuffy. Despite us asking the staff to check on the AC, we heard from no one to fix the AC. Had it been a warm/hot weekend, we would’ve been miserable in the room. There’s absolutely no soundproofing in the room so you hear every hallway conversation and every door shut. Again, for the price paid we were surprised to see there was no coffee maker in the room. The staff was just so-so. They weren’t overly friendly and seemed bothered by interacting with guests (except for the bellman who was lovely). Was also very concerned about the safety (or lack there of). The back door of the hotel was open at all hours and required no key card to open it. Highly concerning given the size of this property. While I know they’re basically charging for the “charm” of the hotel, we were Overall really disappointed in the price paid and the quality and experience received.
