Magical stay at Makanda by the Sea

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

As one of our tour drivers commented when dropping us off this is the most exclusive resort in the area and he was right. The grounds were lush, beautiful and animals were everywhere. The ocean view from our personal hot tub and plunge pool was majestic. Our room and the entire resort makes use of so many different materials and design elements each spot is truly unique. The staff were super friendly and attentive. The exclusive wild beach was a great place to soak in the warm ocean waves. Would highly recommend the resort and we would stay there again!!

Honeymoon in Makanda

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

My wife and I stayed at Maranda for our honeymoon. My wife loved the hotel. It’s a tropical paradise in the jungle. We loved watching the sloths for breakfast. We saw a monkey roaming around the pool and our room. We stayed in the Jr Honeymoon Suite with/ a pool. She loved the views of the ocean from every location in the resort. The hotel stag is great. They made a great suggestion about the area. They are very knowledgeable about the local animals and places to visit. My wife is pregnant, and the hotel staff was invaluable, assisting us with getting around and when she had a food craving. The food at the resort is fantastic. Breakfast is complimentary with the room. Breakfast included fresh juice, coffee, and a meal. I ate the French toast with/ eggs every day. They were excellent. Lunch and Dinner at the hotel were also great. My wife loved the pasta and the Makanda burger. The Makanda Burger and the Rid Eye were my personal favorites. The drinks poolside were excellent, as was the view. Makanda is in a great location. It’s about 40 mins from Jaco Beach. It’s an Hour away from Utiva. We went to see whales. We will definitely stay here again.

Perfection!

Makanda by the Sea is the epitome of luxury and high-end service. Everything about our stay at this exquisite hotel was perfect from the beautifully appointed suite to the breathtaking views to the staff that could not do enough to make your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible. The views from the pools and hot tubs are spectacular, as are the drinks made with all fresh ingredients. The food was incredible. The recommendations for tours couldn’t have been better. And the staff helped to ensure that each journey we took off properly went seamlessly. We cannot say enough about this spectacular property. Although we like to try new places and so rarely go to the same place twice, we will certainly be back!

Wonderful birthday stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

My wife and I stayed at Makanda for my birthday in October. We went knowing it was rainy season and it did rain half of our trip but that did not stop this from being an amazing experience. The room is beautiful. I love the small things they provided such as the robes, crocs, and yoga mats. The views take the room over the top. We were able to see toucans and monkeys From our balcony throughout our stay. The service here was perfect. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. Anything we asked for we received help with very quickly whether it was a golf cart to take us somewhere or a food order. The on site restaurant was also great. I my favorite dishes were the seared ahi tuna and the pinto from the breakfast menu. Overall perfect stay and I’d definitely recommend.

My husband and I stayed here and it was absolutely amazing. Often the pictures on the website are an exaggeration of what you get, but that was definitely not the case here. In fact, the pictures really do not do it justice. Breakfast was served in the room a la carte each day and we could sit out on the balcony and just enjoy the privacy and clean air. It was wonderful! The staff was very helpful, and the resort felt very private, with few people staying there. We felt like royalty the entire time.

My wife and I stayed at Makanda and frankly, we fell in love with the place. Its very laid back and beautiful. The suites are huge and lovely. At the end of every day, we'd float around in the swimming pool with a drink in one hand, watching the sun set, with a troop of Howler monkeys in the trees over our heads. Talk about romantic! The area had enough to keep us busy (we did a guided tour of Manuel Antonio Park, a zip line tour and a mangrove boat tour) and there are several top restaurants nearby, including the one at the hotel, which is outside, near the pool. I recommend Makanda by the Sea very highly.
