The hotel is located within a jungle corner. It perfectly fits in and all the rooms are integrated with the surrounding nature. Every morning you wake up at the birds and monkeys sounds. The service before, during and after our stay went just beyond our expectations!, Irina, Elias, Ariana, Candy, Alfredo and all the other members of the team made our holiday special! The food is amazing, cooked and presented with perfect care for each detail. Our room had all the comforts of a well thought and designed cocoon! We will never forget the little attentions and the number 1 piñacoladas!!! A special thank you to Leo: you are the best!!! And a “see you soon” to all ❤️

Absolutely 💯 the best stay! Elias at the salt pool bar took such good care of us. From the best drinks to dinner recommendations. 5 star service. Irina and Ariana at the front desk sooo helpful planning prior to arrival. This resort worth every penny. All staff really were wonderful wish I could name each.

Had a wonderful lovely 2 days in Makanda- by- the sea, a classic boutique hotel in Manuel Antonio ! The room was put if this world with a pool and jacuzzi on the patio area overlooking the trees, sea and mountains! Total comfort with great facilities ; Howler monkeys on trees outside often too… keep your glass doors shut! The beach is a secluded gorgeous one ! It’s black sand and beautiful…. Very rocky on the left side and you can hurt your foot from the waves carrying small rocks ! But.. in the far right side , the beach is sandy and fantastic ! They give you crocs but small rocks get under your feet .. well fitting water shoes are the best ! The Pool bar near Árbol restaurant is gorgeous with great food too .. watch out for sloths, macaws , monkeys at the SALT WATER POOl areas early mornings ! A SHOUT OUT TO JONATHAN! He helped us driving golf carts and with every need Any CONS? 1) the beach is at least a MILE from the rooms and VERY VERY STEEP to go down there but, The hotel has done a GREAT JOB with GOLF CARTS! They are available all the time to take you back and forth 2) NO MILK OR CREAMERS! Make sure to call before for these ! They made an unnecessary fuss to provide these… which was quite shocking !

My stay was amazing from start to finish. The staff is very attentive and always one step ahead. They really treat you like royalty and are super nice and welcoming. Always greeting you with a smile and helping wherever they can. The property is amazing, too. 10/10 everything.

We visited with another couple to celebrate my husband and his friends 50th birthday. This place is out of this world! Beautiful room with a phenomenal view. Stunning pools. Luxury in the jungle. Plenty of wildlife. We saw a sloth, monkeys, capybura. Food and drinks were delicious! Staff was phenomenal. Alfredo and Josh are the best! Chiliguaro!!!!!

My husband and I stayed here and it was absolutely amazing. Often the pictures on the website are an exaggeration of what you get, but that was definitely not the case here. In fact, the pictures really do not do it justice. Breakfast was served in the room a la carte each day and we could sit out on the balcony and just enjoy the privacy and clean air. It was wonderful!
The staff was very helpful, and the resort felt very private,
with few people staying there. We felt like royalty the entire time.

My wife and I stayed at Makanda and frankly, we fell in love with the place. Its very laid back and beautiful. The suites are huge and lovely. At the end of every day, we'd float around in the swimming pool with a drink in one hand, watching the sun set, with a troop of Howler monkeys in the trees over our heads. Talk about romantic! The area had enough to keep us busy (we did a guided tour of Manuel Antonio Park, a zip line tour and a mangrove boat tour) and there are several top restaurants nearby, including the one at the hotel, which is outside, near the pool. I recommend Makanda by the Sea very highly.
