Hotel Makanda by the Sea

Makanda by the Sea is truly a paradise. The property is absolutely beautiful and incredibly scenic, with stunning views. The food was phenomenal throughout our stay. Breakfast was hands down our favorite part and something we looked forward to every morning. That said, Arbol was some of the best dining we’ve ever experienced; every dish was exceptional. What really made our stay unforgettable was the staff. Everyone was extremely friendly, welcoming, and attentive, and they went above and beyond to make our experience so special. We couldn’t have asked for a better honeymoon and can’t wait to return!

We stayed at Makanda by the Sea for our honeymoon and had an amazing experience. We stayed in Villa 3, the Junior Honeymoon Suite with a private infinity pool, and it was absolutely perfect for a romantic getaway. The villa was beautiful, private, and incredibly relaxing. Waking up to the views and having our own infinity pool made the stay feel special from start to finish. We ate breakfast at the hotel every morning, and everything was consistently fresh and delicious. On our last day, we did the floating breakfast, which was a fun and memorable experience and a great way to end the trip. The staff was very responsive and attentive, always helpful without being intrusive. The property itself is genuinely beautiful, and one of the highlights was how close you are to nature. The wildlife really does come right to you, which made the experience feel unique and immersive. Makanda by the Sea was the perfect place for our honeymoon. Peaceful, romantic, and unforgettable. Highly recommend.

Stunning rooms and grounds. Went with my husband and my adult kids. We all loved this resort. Very natural grounds filled with everything you’d want to see in a rainforest including birds and animals- sloths and monkeys! Pools are spectacular and the setting is next to none! The staff is super friendly and happy to have you visit their country. The food at the restaurants is delicious. We slept so soundly on the extremely comfortable beds - I want to know what the mattress is and get one for my home.

Makanda by the Sea in Manuel Antonio is truly one of the most beautiful resorts I’ve ever experienced. From the moment I arrived, I was blown away by the stunning design. The rooms are spacious and stylish, the pools are breathtaking, and the incredible food with views that make every meal unforgettable. The outdoor spaces blend seamlessly with the lush rainforest and ocean and wildlife, creating a magical atmosphere that feels both luxurious and connected to nature. The beach and pools were pristine and relaxing, but what really made this stay exceptional were the people. Every staff member I encountered was warm, friendly, and genuinely helpful. Their kindness and attention to detail elevated the entire experience and made me feel completely cared for. This resort is the definition of paradise. Between the gorgeous setting, thoughtful design, and outstanding hospitality, my stay was a perfect 10/10. I can’t wait to return!

What a find! We have stayed in many very high end resorts and this one is right a the top with the best of them. The architecture and rooms are absolutely beautiful! The service is top notch from check-in to the restaurant and pool service. I can't think of one thing where I would recommend a change or improvement (and I think I'm kind o picky.) We saw more wildlife here than we did on any tours we took. We saw howler monkeys, capuchin monkeys, squirrel monkeys, sloths, iquanas, macaws and a toucan even landed on our deck and gave us a photo opp of a lifetime! If you are looking for an amazing place to stay while exploring this part of Costa Rica, this is it!
