Reviews for Hotel Makanda by the Sea
Place looks absolutely amazing, staff are really friendly and helpful. The place is positioned on the side of the mountains and surrounded by monkeys. Darwin the host made our stay really enjoyable and looked after us the whole time. Recommend to all.

This hotel is the most beautiful hotel I have ever stayed at . Their service is beyond excellent. Jacklyn and evenly at the front desk were extra helpful and very friendly . Also Every time we would request a car to pick us up from our room Jorge the young guy would get there right away. He would make us laugh and made us feel very welcome as well. The staff in the swimming pool area was extra friendly. The rooms were remodel and fancy with a gorgeous view! the breakfast was extremely good and tasty. I have no complains at all , I’m. Very happy with everything! They treat you like a king/ Queen. The pool is open 24 hours you can’t beat that, plus the pool has a wonderful, gorgeous, pretty view. We’re definitely coming back again! Loved it

A lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. Check in was a bit false, very insincere women on reception but apart from that everything else was great. We had a Deluxe Studio which had it’s own private terrace. Room was spacious with huge bed and kitchenette area. Lovely Molten Brown toiletries - always a bonus in our eyes! Breakfasts were just amazing - cooked to order with choices from a menu ranging from omelette, eggs benedict and French toast to name but a few. Two swimming pools to choose from with happy hour at the main pool from 4pm-6pm (this info wasn’t shared with us on check in). Apparently there is a beach which the hotel will buggy you to but we never made it there. Would stay again and definitely recommend.

Let’s start with the property: Pristine and beautifully landscaped. The natural jungle does most of the work but Makanda has added its own touch of paradise with romantic lighting and secluded pathways and entries to each unit. Each rental is a Cocoon of privacy with unsparing detail and attention to design and comfort each with an awe inspiring view of the ocean. The pool areas are very clean and well maintained ,comfortably designed and appointed. The staff is what makes this personal paradise work. Alex,Darwin, Jorge, Jorge, Marilyn, Chris, Luis, Amanda, TJ and Yolanda all did their professional best for us and l am sure there are many we did not meet. Thank you all for a memorable stay. We can’t wait to come back with friends.

We had three nights here and were impressed. We stayed in A deluxe studio with breathtaking views especially at sunset. We had lunch one day which was very good and dinner also which was good too. Poolside drinks during happy hour were great - watching sunset and the monkeys playing - a real treat. The National park is literally minutes away. However, the hotel is a steep walk or a drive away from the restaurants, shops etc on the main drag. If there is one piece of advice - take some pifpaf or similar with you to stop the bugs crawling under the doors at night! Overall though, this one is worthy of the rave reviews, we wouldn’t hesitate to go back.
