Makanda by the Sea is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever stayed. The property feels private, peaceful, and perfectly blended into nature with stunning ocean views from every angle. The rooms are modern, spacious, and designed with luxury in mind. The staff were incredibly attentive and made me feel welcomed from the moment I arrived. From the infinity pool to the wildlife around the property, every moment felt special. The perfect spot for anyone looking to relax, disconnect, and enjoy the best of Manuel Antonio. Highly recommended.

Just got back from an unforgettable stay at Makanda—luxury, jungle, and ocean views. Our villa had jaw-dropping views and a private plunge pool. The food was Outstanding. The infinity pool was fantastic. Monkeys in the trees were seen from everywhere in the hotel. Huge shoutout to Alfredo at reception—helpful, and made us feel at home from minute one. Huge shoutout and thanks to Bayron and Jonathan—quick, attention to detail, and always smiling. If you want romance, peace, and a true Costa Rican escape, Makanda is it. Already planning our return. 🌊🐒✨

This was the most perfect honeymoon we could have imagined. The staff at Makanda were so attentive, friendly, helpful and pleasant. No detail was forgotten. Our accommodations and view were gorgeous. We saw wildlife right from our balcony. The food was excellent and so were the drinks. We can't wait to come back!

My husband and I stayed at Makanda for our honeymoon and it was absolutely breathtaking! The hotel is very intentionally built within the rainforest so the wildlife can be observed uninterrupted for a truly unique experience! Our room was beautifully decorated and had every amenity anyone could want. Also, the staff truly goes above and beyond to make you feel like family during your stay and far exceeds the hospitality we’ve received anywhere else; especially Yoel and Joseph! We truly can’t wait to come back!

As one of our tour drivers commented when dropping us off this is the most exclusive resort in the area and he was right. The grounds were lush, beautiful and animals were everywhere. The ocean view from our personal hot tub and plunge pool was majestic. Our room and the entire resort makes use of so many different materials and design elements each spot is truly unique. The staff were super friendly and attentive. The exclusive wild beach was a great place to soak in the warm ocean waves. Would highly recommend the resort and we would stay there again!!

My husband and I stayed here and it was absolutely amazing. Often the pictures on the website are an exaggeration of what you get, but that was definitely not the case here. In fact, the pictures really do not do it justice. Breakfast was served in the room a la carte each day and we could sit out on the balcony and just enjoy the privacy and clean air. It was wonderful!
The staff was very helpful, and the resort felt very private,
with few people staying there. We felt like royalty the entire time.

My wife and I stayed at Makanda and frankly, we fell in love with the place. Its very laid back and beautiful. The suites are huge and lovely. At the end of every day, we'd float around in the swimming pool with a drink in one hand, watching the sun set, with a troop of Howler monkeys in the trees over our heads. Talk about romantic! The area had enough to keep us busy (we did a guided tour of Manuel Antonio Park, a zip line tour and a mangrove boat tour) and there are several top restaurants nearby, including the one at the hotel, which is outside, near the pool. I recommend Makanda by the Sea very highly.
