Ask for Kevin!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 20 hours ago

Shana is a beautiful hotel, cut into the hillside, that has everything you need. It was a great place to stay; Kevin made it unforgettable. He lit up when we walked into the room, remembered our names after the first meeting, asked us questions, made recommendations that were PERFECT, and it felt like we were old friends from University. His positivity and willingness to direct us to local spots helped us immerse ourselves in Manuel Antonio and Quepos. The adults only pool had an amazing view of the forest. During happy hour, we saw 2 sloths, a toucan, and met the Monkey Mafia. The walk to the semi-private beach was beautiful and we had a lovely morning in the cove. Do yourself a favor, stay here, and make sure you find Kevin. You wont regret it.

You won’t want to leave

This hotel was absolutely beautiful and I’m so delighted we decided to stay here. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by the sweetest individuals. Kevin was so helpful and kind to me and my mother. He made sure to let us know if we had any questions and concerns we could come in or call at any time. It was nice knowing that we could definitely take him up on that. We had booked all of our activities through the hotel with the delightful Nedia. She was so sweet and took care of everything for us. When I return to Costa Rica I know that I’ll be staying here at the Shana. I can’t recommend this place enough it’s perfect.

Beautiful Shana by the Beach

We stayed at a Superior Ocean view room. The room overlooked the adult pool and had a great view of the bay. The staff at the hotel are the real super stars, they are so hospital. From the front desk staff (Kevin and Katherine) to Jairo (who drives the golf carts) to the breakfast staff (Javier, Lisandro and Edgar) who were always so gracious. The bar staff, Warner, he went the extra mile every time we were around. The restaurant staff, Priscila and Lester were excellent servers. One night at dinner, Chef Allan came to our table and asked if everything was okay. That says a lot about the restaurant. We enjoyed the live music for several nights. We recommend staying at Shana and plan to do so in the future.

Nice Hotel with Beach Access

We stayed in a superior ocean view room with a balcony overlooking the pool area with the ocean in the distance. The room had a king bed, mini refrigerator, a small desk, tv, and a coffee maker. It was very hot and humid so the air conditioner was wonderful. The rooms are such that the door opens to the outside so there is some noise that comes through the door. Our room also had a locked door to an adjoining room. For the first two nights, we heard no noise (and it was occupied) but the last two nights we could hear people talking loudly in the room next door. As others have said, the property is built on a steep hill. Our room was at the top of the hill. The restaurant and pool area is halfway down and there are rooms at the bottom of the hill. The staff will pick you up in a golf cart if they see you or if you call to request it. The beach is about a 7 minute walk down a fairly well-maintained path (some of the steps that are built into the path were broken). The beach is pretty with fine sand and the water was calm and nice for swimming. There were people renting chairs (20 dollars for 2 chairs and an umbrella), selling food, selling jewelry, etc but they were not intrusive at all. Other than the beach path which leads through the forest, there aren't any other walking trails on the property. We saw capuchin monkeys along the path and the monkeys visit the hotel balconies on occasion to look for open doors and an easy snack (staff advised we always keep the sliding door locked as they can open them). The included breakfast is buffet style and was very good. We ate dinner in the restaurant and enjoyed it (Priscilla was our wonderful waitress). They had live music on a Friday evening.

Beautiful, we loved it!

Me and my partner LOVED this stay. I think we were the only ones staying so long, it almost felt like our home. We stayed for two weeks so we were hoping it would be a place that we are happy with. The service is great and quick. Everytime we asked for something, they got it done in 5 minutes. The people that work there, they work hard and are friendly. Elliet, Andrei, Javier, Dayana were some of the people that I remembered, they felt like friends, they were always so attentive and sweet. I never got his name, since we don't drink alcohol much, but the bartender was always so energetic, happy and excited to be there. The hotel didn't have any loud or inconsiderate guests. The room(we had the family suite) was huge and the bathroom was big as well. Clean and tidy. The only thing was that there were no fans or AC in the bathrooms anywhere, so it would get so hot inside of them. The views were spectacular, we had no idea our room had ocean view so it was a beautiful surprise in the morning. Their food was delicious! The breakfast, was the same every day, not much choice, I guess since it was free. But the chefs at the restaurant are just amazing! You should try their pizza, sushi, pasta and truffle potatoes! We would get natural juices but they would put too much water and little fruit inside. The bell boys with the carts were sooo sweet and always offering a ride. I mean, I don't have many complaints. Their laundry is very expensive, we didn't expect that it would cost that much. We loved it so much that it did not matter too much lol. Thank you, it was a beautiful stay❤️
