Our family had a lovely stay at Shana by the Beach. We had a 2nd floor room with a small ocean view which was clean, cool, and equipped with a large shower. The included breakfast was delicious with many fresh, local foods. We enjoyed dinner nightly with an expansive menu that included several vegetarian options and delicious wood-fired pizzas. The wait staff was friendly and provided excellent service. As others mentioned, Shana by the Beach is similar to many other properties in Manuel Antonio in that it is on a winding hillside road, so prepare yourself for some steep walks. The path to the beach is gravel with many steps, so good footwear is helpful. We were entertained by monkeys on the balcony (and swiping food off guests' plates) throughout our stay. We booked our own activities beforehand, but the hotel did help us arrange taxis when needed--to souvenir shops, MA National Park, neighboring beach, etc. Our flight home on the last day was late at night, and although late check-out was not available, the staff made sure we were well cared for while we were waiting.

This is a big resort type hotel built on a hill with a beach down below accessible from hotel grounds. Not walkable to town however. Rooms have high ceilings, fair sized with tile floors, balconies with chairs. We have a lower level room with 2 queen beds, so no sea view, just greenery and foliage. Good size bathroom with spacious shower. Large TV doesn't seem to work unless you plug in your own devices. Lighting is good. Beds are very comfortable - meaning firm with comfortable clean bedding. Pillows a bit bouncy not the best. Fridge and coffee maker. Not a lot of electrical outlets in room. There are "3" pools, which are actually one decent size one you can swim laps in, one adult only not large enough to swim in, and a round jacuzzi. Water is not cooled so by afternoon the water is very warm (in February). You are given tickets one each for towels with $20 charge if lost. To access the beach you walk down a well marked gravelly path - a bit tricky if wearing fliplpflops as it's a bit steep with rough surface. The beach is quite small and very shallow for a long way out. There are rental beach chairs and umbrellas - was told cost $20 for two beach chairs and umbrella. There seems to be mosquitos in the room not surprising since we are on the lowest level (you walk downstairs from the road. There is a restaurant that serves all three meals. There is a safe in the room and they encourage you to use it and told us that if the safe is left open they will not do any housekeeping so even if you don't use it you need to keep it locked if housekeeping is desired. Breakfast with eggs made to order and sausages 2 kinds of rice, beans and plantains. Cut fruit very good - mango and papaya. Good selection of salty and sweet puff pastries.

There was a man named Javier who appeared to me as one of these butlers that we only see in the most elite restaurants of the World. He was always so proper and was hustling around quickly and quietly everywhere, seeing to it that everything was running smoothly. He would be going from table to table making sure our needs were met. I had noticed when a man had turned the handle on the Coffee dispenser to fill his cup and then he absentmindedly was starting to doing something else next to this dispenser and was allowing the Coffee to overflow his cup, Javier saw this and husled over to turn the spigot off, I could tell that Javier was a little frustrated at this man but the strange thing was that this man showed no emotion on the mess he made and gave me the thought that he really did not care. He had reminded me of children that have told me, when they put something they picked up like ice cream from the Ice Cream Freezers in a Supermarket, they bring it to the Parents and the Parents say, NO. Then the child will put it on a shelf next to them, and I tell them, "you don't do that you put it back where you found it." The child's response is "the workers get paid to do that." Javier I love you man, I only wish all servers were as professional as you. Thank you and may the Lord Bless you! Robert PS. Shana By The Beach was a wonderful restaurant, yummy good. I only wish we could have one near my 'Home by the Road' in Arlington WA.

Wonderful resort 5 min walk from a beautiful beach and 10 min drive from Manuel Antonio National Park and 15min from the Quepos Marina. The amenities of the resort are wonderful, staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms are very specious and very clean. The patio is great to have your morning coffee waiting for the monkeys to visit you or just watch birds and listen to wildlife. Overall This is a great place for families, single travelers or for couples. They can schedule tons of activities for your party and you do not need a car, taxis are everywhere. And if you want to chill, there are 2 pools available that are wonderful. One of them is an infinity pool for adults only. The breakfast was amazing. I am giving this resort a 10/10. Note: there is no laundry facilities to do your own laundry but they provide a service to do your laundry, it was 8$ for 2 lbs.

We had a wonderful experience in this hotel. Not only were the facilities very nice but the proximity to an amazing beach and the swimming pool and breakfasts were clear pluses. However, over everything else, it was the staff who made our stay unique. They were extremely attentive and always taking care of us, no matter if during breakfast, lunch or dinner, or just taking us up and down with the electric car or in reception, finding solutions to all our requests. I could mention quite a few of the staff member who absolutely had a positive impact on the quality of our stay, including Kevin, Alex, Javier, Indira, Elga, and many others. To all of you, big thank you!!
