Great large hotel. Rooms were large with lots of spacing between rooms. Best pricing through a package deal. We went with SunWing. If the buffet selection is not what you want we recommend a look at the menu. The menu is not readily offered. Do take the water taxi over town and bus over to Melaque. Spend the morning and have a drink on the beach. We found that pool and buffet was overrun with kids as this was a school break. The hotel was large enough that we could find some escape from the noise. The swim up bar was regularly crowded with children who regularly spilled their drinks into the pool. The good news was that the kids were overall well behaved. We don't golf. However the golfers said read the charges very closely as the fees were not cheap.

I just spent a week at the Grand Bay with a friend. Wow! What a wonderful hotel. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Thank you Francisco! The hotel and surroundings are beautiful with amazing views everywhere you look. Restaurants are excellent, from the included breakfast, poolside burger, happy hour sushi and the grand finale, dinner at Antonio's. Don't miss the tequila bar! The Grand Bay is just a water taxi ride to Barra, a wonderful and friendly town with more amazing restaurants. And! If you are not there just to chill by the pool there is golf, tennis, and day trips to keep you busy. I'm hesitant to share this wonderful location so let's keep it a secret ok!

Very spacious labyrinthine hotel. Very nice decor. Awesome food and service at breakfast and dinner. Beautiful grounds and setting. Bit remote from Barra...needed to take 5 min water taxi ride to Barra. Fantastic prices for a 5 star hotel. Only one real downside: WiFi only worked in the hotel lobby, not in our rooms.

This was a strange/unusual holiday on our second visit here The Spanish colonial architecture as always very beautiful and the facilities with the pool and tennis and marina and golf very good so why are less than 20% of the rooms occupied It is hard to understand what the problem is and some people are suggesting that the owner is so wealthy it doesn't matter how many show up They also claim 5 star status but that would mean customer satisfaction would be tantamount A few experiences we had was an outright refusal up through management to allow us to bring a cot for our granddaughter instead of having to double up in tiny double beds Then the restaurant Antonio's was completely vacant with no bookings when we tried to make a reservation They refused because we we after the arbitrary booking time of 10 to 2 The room staff couldn't provide either the in room packages of regular coffee or creamer or stir sticks all the same day I wish them luck and hope they can correct the shortages mostly coming from management and or training and bring it back to the quality that the building and the visitors deserve I would return after all that being said

Just got back from a week's all inclusive vacation with my wife and another couple. Have been there before and have family wintering in the small neighbouring town, Barra de Navidad. The hotel and its surroundings are spectacular. The weather is consistantly good. The food is delicious, both at the buffet and Antonio's. The staff knowing we were disappointed that the Terrace Thai restaurant was closed brought Antonio's service outside to the terrace area. Played a couple of rounds of golf on a breathtaking course, skipped over to town for local flavour by water taxi and generally had a great vacation. A word of warning, go easy on the Margaritas around the pool, they can be dangerous.lol. They have upgraded the live entertainment since the last time I was there but this is definitely not a party place. Please don't tell anyone how great this hidden gem is, we like it just the way it is.
