We have been visiting Indigo Reef Resort in Marathon for several years now with our family, usually during Labor Day weekend, Thanksgiving, and sometimes in the summer. This time, we came for Labor Day weekend. We specifically requested a pet-friendly unit and were told it would not be a problem as long as we followed the rules, such as keeping the dogs on a leash and away from the pool area—which we fully agreed to. We rented the unit for one week (even though we were only staying for three days) at a cost of $4,000. From the moment we arrived by boat, things became very unpleasant. We were immediately told how to tie the ropes and how to dock the boat, constantly reminded about the new HOA rulebook—it felt more like harassment than guidance. When we got to our assigned unit, we were surprised to see that the entire place seemed empty. Yet, we were placed right next to a very grumpy elderly neighbor. After settling in, we went out to dinner, and within 30 minutes, we received a message saying that one of our dogs was barking. Please note, this was Friday at 5 PM, not late at night. We asked management if it would be possible to move to another unit since the resort was clearly vacant, but we were told no. We then asked if they could refund us (even if with a penalty fee) so we could find another place, and again the answer was no. We decided to give it another chance on Saturday, but the same neighbor continued watching our every move, making us extremely uncomfortable. Later, we went out again and received a text message saying that there had been multiple complaints about our dog barking. However, this was very surprising since the only people in that entire area were this neighbor and us. Every time we came back, the dogs were either sleeping or quietly resting. At most, they might have been playing with each other for a short while—as dogs normally do during the day. By Sunday morning we decided to leave early, as the situation had become unbearable. To make matters worse, the unit itself (Unit 63) was outdated: dirty mattresses, an old TV, and overall very worn down. Sadly, what was once a place we enjoyed coming back to has now turned into a nightmare experience. We will not be returning.

We have been coming her for close to 15 years, stayed in many of the units at one point or another. Have always had a great time, loved the facilities and location. We come with our family and friends, nothing crazy. HOWEVER, this past time, we were creepily watched by their "new" property manager. This guy drove around in his golf cart, watching everything, everybody did. He watched you get in your boat, get out, follow you to the ice machine, counted how many people were on your boat, etc. Did not like us BBQing, playing corn hole and did not like how we positioned and tied up our boat. Gave everyone a "pink" slip on their car, threatened to tow us. Then all of a sudden, our boat was too big, not sure how it grew in 4 days, but then threatened to tow the boat. UNBELIEVEABLE!!! No one wants somebody to be breathing down their neck, watching every move they make and then threaten people to be towed. In terms of the cars, there was plenty of parking! I'm all for having someone watch out of the owner's best interest when it comes to their property, that's what they are there for, BUT enough is enough. He didn't like that little kids were jumping in the pool, having a good time. Just a miserable son of a biscuit*. My family and I were so disgusted that the units we had rented for later on this year, we cancelled. Who wants to deal with this stuff* when you are on vacation? The people that will suffer are the owner's who have had loyal renters for years and the companies who represent the owners. Also, he needs to grow a pair and talk to people when they are "doing something wrong" rather than contacting the owner. What an absolute crappy vacation we had having to deal with this guy and honestly, I will NOT recommend this place to anyone as long as this guy is still there. Good Luck?

There is major construction going on from early morning (including weekends) that is affecting dock access and views. The noise is extremely disturbing at all hours of the day and the management is dismissive of concerns. This is a major project which will likely go on for months . Be warned !

67 units, individually owned and rented by different management companies. All units are nearly identical- 3 bed, 2 1/2 bath. We’ve stayed in several different units over the past decade and each had it’s pluses and minuses. Overall this is a great secret location with a giant heated pool and each unit has one reserved parking space and there’s an overflow lot. Each unit has a reserved dock. Generally peaceful and quiet within walking distance of Franks, Fish tails and Kings. Prices will are climbing- we’ve used Coco Plum realty ((we miss Angel), and pack and relax (Joe Zito).

We stayed at indigo reef #41 and our stay was perfect! Clean, beautiful furnished, ample amenities, and gorgeous pool. Absolutely loved taking walks around the resort and checking out the canals for marine life. Located in Marathon Key it was easy to explore all the keys. Seriously look no further, stay at book a stay at #41.
