About the Hotel

Stylish and sophisticated, the newly opened Alanda Hotel Marbella is everything you might expect from a first-class hotel. Located in Marbella in the heart of Spain's Costa del Sol, near what's commonly referred to as the Golden Mile, the hotel features an array of plush rooms and luxury suites. The façade, a modern four-level structure bedecked with plenty of glass and a fleet of balconies, looks contemporary and fresh to the first-time visitor, while the interiors respectfully buck tradition with a streamlined, minimalist look.

More of a 4 star and not suitable for business

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Plus points: Room large, shower huge although water temperature varied greatly, 2 sinks, quiet location (we were in the back section). Staff are lovely and helpful and have a great command of English and various other languages. Pool big and very quiet in April! There were people swimming in it but I didn’t try it. Close proximity to beach (if you are on holiday) it’s a short walk across the road and through the very expensive Porto Romano resort. Negative points: No alcohol served anywhere in the hotel. Hotel is Halal friendly but doesn’t offer alternatives, not a huge issue as I eat it but my partner wanted pork sausages and bacon and it isn’t offered. Breakfast does offer a good variety of choices though so no one went hungry! Huge negative is the proximity to the local Mosque in terms of the chanting several times a day for long periods, probably should be mentioned on the website - along with the no alcohol - so guests can make an informed decision. The hotel is very minimalistic and I wouldn’t say it is 5 star but in line with other southern European countries the stars are often exaggerated. I think 4 star is a more suitable rating. It does have a gym but it’s a very basic gym. Also has a spa open from 10-6 but I didn’t visit this. The biggest problem for me was the poor WiFi. They offer two types WIFI_Alanda and ALAND_PRO and both were absolutely dire. I ended up streaming off my mobile device. I tried it in several locations and eventually popped across the road to the Porto Romano resort as their WiFi is amazing. This is probably the main reason for the 3 star review as it cannot be a business hotel if it doesn’t have the services to support it. Lovely stay but the stress of not being able to connect to WiFi that could support a teams call was really negative.

A hotel with ZERO sense of hospitality

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I have not stayed in the hotel, yet I had the worst customer service experience with them. I have booked a nonrefundable stay in this horrible place *by mistake* 3 days ago for September 30th; I have applied for a cancelation from the booking site and called the hotel immediately to tell them what happened, they transferred me twice, then they put me on hold for 10 damn minutes and I'm calling from China; so I eventually closed the line as no one answered; the next day they called me from trip.com (the booking site) and told me that they can't get back to me regarding the cancelation because the hotel team doesn't work on the weekends :) ; today I received an email from trip.com that the hotel didn't accept to refund me the money but they can change the dates. What a joke!!! So if I suddenly decide to change my dates last minute into a high season you would accommodate me? What if I decided to come on days where there are no availability? You are hungry for money with ZERO sense of hospitality. I'd never stay in this hotel even if I got the nights for free because you're so damn cheap and ur customer service is cheaper. Keep the damn money but I'll make sure to post this everywhere, and tell everyone I know if going to marbella definitely not to book in ur something called hotel. The booking was made 6 months in advance by mistake and I called immediately and wanted to inform. You are not even close to a four stars hotel, and if there was any less stars than 1, I would've have definitely rated you that.

Overall good

Good things: Cleaning staff! V friendly despite the language barriers Staff in general is nice The breakfast is amazing! It is halal and the selections alone are worth staying here. I also love the fact that I don’t have to check if anything has gelatin or is pork derived or not cross contaminated with pork or other non-halal items before consuming it at their restaurants. The rooms is nice with all things u need to make ur stay a good one The hotel is next to the mosque and is walking distance from the beach, which would be great during summertime The bad: The outdoor pool is closed due to winter which is understandable, but this is not listed anywhere on their website I was like OK, at least I’ll have the indoor pool and hot tub because right now the beach is way too cold to go into. Nope, the indoor pool is also closed due to some temperature control issues I literally came all the way from United States, spent a lot of money on my ticket and on my elongated stay here, just to experience indoor pool in an environment where people are not drunk. V v disappointed. The other bad is that the hotel is located a bit far away from the old town area. That means that if you want to catch any buses or trains to Grenada or Seville, you first have to figure out the internal bus system, or take an expensive cab to a station with less connections or rent ur own car. (Even though I’m here for a full week, all the tours were booked out, leaving from the hotel).

Excellent hotel with excellent service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Rooms are good size, modern, with good natural lighting, comfortable beds, with balconies, and very clean. The hotel has excellent facilities such as fitness centre and swimming pool (including an in-door pool) and good parking. The food including breakfast is great and 100% Halal. The location is excellent and few mins walk to the beach. Another attraction if you are a practicing Muslim is that the beautiful Grand Mosque of Marabella is next to the hotel. The only negative - (as per rest of the hotels in the area) the Air conditioning is turned off during winter.
