We booked a suite which was excellent, with amazing views over the marina. Huge suite with full kitchen and separate bedroom. Balcony on 2 sides with a whirlpool. Dining at the Grill room is lovely. Lunch by the pool was good other restaurants on or near the site not so great. No beach was an oversight on our part. Hotel is on the side of a hill so lots of stairs to get up to your room!Hired a car but not much to see on st Lucia. Roads are windy and full of holes, takes ages to go a short distance. All in all we found the island to be rather scruffy, even though the hotel was good. A few maintenance issues that need to be sorted. Over an hour from the airport but most other top hotels are even further.

This has to be one of my favourite hotels in the world. The property is beautiful, well presented and maintained. The staff are excellent, attentive, yet relaxed. Rooms are well equipped, comfortable and quiet. Really impressed and enjoyed my stay. Thank you.

Marigot Bay is an excellent resort in St. Lucia! Tucked away in Marigot Bay, it offers three dining options and a beautiful view of the harbor and marina. We stayed in Room 1012, a bay view room that was perfectly situated over the marina. (Other bay view rooms weren't as centrally located it seemed.) The room was a generous size and the air conditioning was quiet and worked great! The mattress was on the firm side, which we appreciate. The daily housekeeping was more than excellent and they left little treats and snacks (and sometimes cute notes) every day. We purchased the all-inclusive dining package, as the food is very expensive (it is an island and a very nice resort, so as expected!). We don't feel like we saved any money doing the all-inclusive, but since we budgeted it in, it took the pressure off ordering what we wanted and trying everything! The best restaurant is The Grill, which is covered, perched on the hill, and serves breakfast and dinner. There is also the Rum Cave, near the second pool (yes, there are 2 pools!) and Hurricane Hole, further down the marina. We ate at all three places and all three were top notch. Get the cheeseburger, pina colada and peanut ice cream at Hurricane Hole, the rum-spiced tea at the Rum Cave, and the breakfast wrap (oh so good with sausage, egg and sweet potato) at The Grill. The steak was also excellent at The Grill. I will note too that the staff at Marigot Bay is very, very nice and we know it must be hard to be smiley and happy all the time, but these people are VERY good at it! We loved Janelle at The Grill - she was lovely and personable. Chever also went above and beyond and called all the guests by their first names. (Clearly this woman should be promoted to upper management as she gets it!) A few things to note: 1. We went to the concierge to set up a horseback riding experience. This was not like an American concierge - the guy asked us to look up the number of the horseback place and the address on our phone (though he had a computer in front of him), punched the number into the phone and gave us the phone. We found it funny, but a heads up to those of you that want super concierge service - this isn't really the place. 2. The mosquitos are CRAZY. I came home with no less than 60 bites on my legs. This isn't a problem for Marigot Bay, but for the entire island. They do give you a small bottle of mosquito spray in the bathroom, which was thoughtful and we used it every time we went out (but apparently did not work for me). If you don't bring anything else, bring extra spray and hydro-cortisone cream! 3. The food at the Hurricane Hole is very good, but has the tendency to smell like sewage. Unfortunately, this is probably a by-product of being right at the marina. A couple of pina coladas, and you'll forget about the smell, but we ate less at Hurricane Hole because of it. 4. There is a free water taxi to a small beach across the bay from the hotel. As other reviewers have said, this isn't a beach you would expect from a 5-star resort. It's filled with people selling things which makes it a bit uncomfortable and isn't the most relaxing place. We didn't spent a lot of time here, as we preferred the pool at the resort better. 5. On Thursdays the hotel offers a hike across the bay from the marina up to the ridge which truly does have gorgeous views. That said - TAKE NOTE - this is NOT an easy climb. It's not even a "kind of hard" climb, as we were led to believe. It is VERY hard and should be attempted by people that are in very good shape and used to rock climbing. I can tell you that none of us in our group were prepared for it. So, if you do decide to do it (and we all made it... eventually), bring plenty of water (2 large bottles/person) and bars. Do not under estimate it - it's not for the faint of heart. Also beware that very few (2-3) people on the resort staff know of the trail. We had a few people get heat exhaustion - but I could easily see how it could have been worse and I'm still not certain how we would have been able to cope. It is literally so steep on the way up, it is easier to keep going UP than it is to try to climb back down. 5. The pool chairs need to be replaced. One of the guys on staff commented how the hotel purchased the chairs 2 years ago, but they have already started sagging and really hurt to lay on. There are cushions, but only on the lower pool loungers (why I have no idea?) and they don't pull them up when it rains, so even the cushions are in poor shape. The hotel needs to replace all the chairs and loungers asap! Overall, Marigot Bay resort was an EXCELLENT find and, after touring much of the rest of St. Lucia and seeing many of the other resorts, we felt that we did a great job picking Marigot Bay. The room, staff, food, and pool areas (despite the loungers) are all great. Because it is in the marina, there are beautiful boats to look at, and more places to walk around than at your typical St. Lucia resort.

The people part of this experience is the real stand-out and sets this resort apart from the competition. The cuisine was well considered and tasty and the services at the Spa provided a refreshing break for the weary traveller. The resort provides a number of unique amenity services around the pool which it seems not to promote beforehand so that we were surprised and even delighted at the quality of this selection. The truth is we just happened upon this experience just by chance and immediately upon escaping a disastrous experience across the bay at the Marigot Bay Beach Resort & Spa, a misleading name which suggests it is the same calibre as the Marigot Bay Resort and Marina. Well, we were fortunate to chance upon the latter and rejoiced at our good luck with this discovery! The accommodation is first class and is a stand-out experience with fabulous views across the bay and to the Caribbean sea beyond. The food and the service is also a WOW and we enjoyed their newest restaurant location called the Hurricane Hole in the middle of the marina and within the setting of their Marina Village. Very tasteful and most enjoyable. The spa at Marigot Bay is set out a a garden location, very cool and comfortable with multiple treatment rooms and branded as the Auriga Spa. We thought it a marvelous addition to the entire visit. Marigot Bay Resort and Marina saved our St Lucia honeymoon. It was a beautiful resort and one to which we will definitely return again and again.
