Ksar Char-Bagh in Marrakech, Morocco

There's a good reason you may encounter a member of the Moroccan royal family at Ksar Char-Bagh. This fanciful Relais & Chateaux affiliate is a palace of intimate proportions. Although new, the magnificent property recalls the finest Moorish architectural traditions. Its location just outside Marrakech in the exclusive Palmeraie district ensures utter tranquility, while remarkably spacious Harim suites allow you to shed your cares in regal, deliciously spoiled style.

Massages can be relished in a vaulted hammam, while gourmet dining can be savored from a superb house chef who trained under Alain Ducasse and Joël Rubichon. Your senses indulged and your appetite sated, it's time to explore Place Djemaa el Fna, the mystical city square filled with snake charmers, magicians and acrobats. For the ultimate adventure, head out to the foothills of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains and visit the Berber villages that inspired the hotel's charming mud tea hut.

My mum and I decided to go to Ksar Char Bagh for a relaxing holiday together and we definitely chose the the best place!!! Really beautiful and relaxing place!! The concierge Youseff organised everything for us, from trips to restaurants and transport... making our stay so much easier. We loved every moment in Marrakech and we will certainly go back to our “home” in Marrakech - Ksar Char bagh. The staff is really helpful and incredible friendly! Totally recommend this place.

I have been visiting Morocco annually for the last 20+ years. My favorite place was the now defunct Gazelle D'or. It has taken several years to find a replacement, those of you who have been the Gazelle D'or know what I mean, those of you who weren't lucky enough to go before it's downfall you have missed the best oasis for the soul, mind, heart it was paradise on earth, err Morrocan style. Visited the Ksar Char-Bagh for the first time in 2017 and instantly loved it, it has all the best features of the Gazelle D'or and somewhat more. It's not a huge hotel, and it is expensive compared to some of the other hotels in Marrakech, but here's where they get it right: it's good value for money. 2017 we stayed during New Year, hmm, not sure I will do that again, this year we arrived on the 2nd January, most of the the new year's revelers had left and the hotel was back to being the quiet relaxing oasis. It's not huge, and the grounds are not extensive, but the balance works between the quantity of guests and the space. What makes it even more special is its location, inside the Palmery, but on the outskirts, it's very quiet. Center Marrakech is a good 15 minute drive. The staff are wonderful, warm, friendly, welcoming and they have that absolutely beautiful Moroccan charm, those of you who know Morocco know what I mean. From the moment we arrive we felt that we were returning home. Rooms are large, great bathrooms, lots of hot water and good quality towels. This trip we stayed in the tower with its huge roof terrace and plunge pool, the views of the Atlas mountains are breathtaking. There is a massive heated pool and well as a well equipped gym. Dining was something very special, from the start we asked Aziz the chef, (Moroccan) to decide for us and daily between him and his sous chef, Nouri, they totally floored us. It was outstanding, incredible flavours, perfect balance, just bloody fabulous. They are both young are incredibly talented, can't wait to go back and see where they have taken the menu next. As there were only a handful of guests they organised private dinners in the small bar on several evening, or in the slightly larger smoking room, each time we arrived our breath was taken away as the staff had on each occasion created something magical and different. We were so well looked after that we forgot that there is a world outside the Ksar Char-Bagh. The hamman is another fabulous part of this hotel, you feel you in a byzantine palace with all it's dark ochre marble, the staff here are as brilliant as the rest of the team. Of course not everything is 100% perfect, but that is very Morocco, there is a tendency to forget etc etc, you take things at they're pace and you're guaranteed to have a great visit. Asks for room on the first floor, each has it's own private roof terrace, the garden room have the advantage of a private garden but they're dark. It's not really suitable for children.

We have booked the apartment with terrace and private pool to celebrate the new year in Marrakech. The room was exceptional, big and with the typical Marrocan flair. It could not be better. We felt from the first day like being a part of a family. The new years eve was just fantastic, celebrating with singers, music and dance and for not even a higher price for the dinner. All the guests received even a small gift from the owner. We enjoyed a lot, it was one of the most beautiful and memorable stay we ever had. The staff of this location is just amazing. A big thank to Anas and all the other members of the staff who made our stay so memorable. We are looking forward to coming back again to this peaceful and beautiful oasis outside of Marrakech. This hotel is definitely a nice cultural experience of traditional Moroccan luxury living. The rooms are spacious, clean and very nicely decorated. The property is very private as it only has like 13 room, however it feels a bit understaffed like there is not full time personnel at the reception, WiFi didnt work for us the entire time and food quality is extremely poor. The breakfest is really tragic, there is one kind of juice, toast, croissant, one fat ham and some salmon and goat cheese. That is. The birds are flying all over the food and siting on it. Quite disgusting. So all in all I would not come back to this property as there are really nice hotels that are right in the city center and offer better services and food.

Couldn’t recommend Ksar Char Bagh enough. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel like the only guests there. Anas was on hand to deal with our every desire. From car services, to restaurant reservations, camel rides to arranging a very special 50th anniversary meal in one of the Palace’s beautiful rooms, a trip to remember. We stayed in the Tower suite, with rooftop pool and views to die for. Well worth the extra! The on site spa was great too.
