Ksar Char-Bagh in Marrakech, Morocco

There's a good reason you may encounter a member of the Moroccan royal family at Ksar Char-Bagh. This fanciful Relais & Chateaux affiliate is a palace of intimate proportions. Although new, the magnificent property recalls the finest Moorish architectural traditions. Its location just outside Marrakech in the exclusive Palmeraie district ensures utter tranquility, while remarkably spacious Harim suites allow you to shed your cares in regal, deliciously spoiled style.

Massages can be relished in a vaulted hammam, while gourmet dining can be savored from a superb house chef who trained under Alain Ducasse and Joël Rubichon. Your senses indulged and your appetite sated, it's time to explore Place Djemaa el Fna, the mystical city square filled with snake charmers, magicians and acrobats. For the ultimate adventure, head out to the foothills of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains and visit the Berber villages that inspired the hotel's charming mud tea hut.

Our son got married in sept at the hotel ( his choice after a lot of research) and we could not have wished for a more perfect place anywhere in the world. We had 3 days exclusivity so it felt like our home, the events we held in the hotel were fantastic and we would highly recommend it as the best spot in Marrakech, privacy, class, elegance and quality. , The food was superior and the chef goes out of his way to offer what ever you wish for. We very much appreciated the wonderful service from all the staff. Nothing was too difficult or impossible ( here I must mention their wonderful concierge Yousef, who is the best concierge in the world), the staff were charming and always smiling. The management is vigilant and very much in control of the operation, they supervise every little detail and treat their guests and employees in a very respectful and professional manner. We had memorable moments at Ksar Char Bagh and highly recommend it as a venue for either a family or a couples romantic holiday. We will certainly be returning, we miss it already! George and Sandra

Enjoy high quality living and comfort in a spacious "castle" just outside Marrakesh. And you still have the possibility to be part of all the experiences Marrakesh gives, and then retire to a true Relais&Chateau property with one of the best kitchens in Marrakesh.

Literally an oasis in the middle of the desert! Beautiful well designed hotel with amazing pool and grounds. Service was just perfect. We were upgraded on arrival to a stunning room with a little garden. We didn't want to leave the hotel the first night and stayed in for a dinner. We were presented with a beautiful table set just for us. It felt like we are the only one in the hotel. It was very romantic! Food itself was good, but overpriced for what it is. Lunch menu is much better, but you can ask for a dish from that menu in the evening. Overall highly recommended for a night or two while in Marrakech!

We had a few misgivings, as we drove down the dirt path towards the hotel, especially after arriving from one of Marrakech’s top hotels,The Royal Mansour. The minute we walked inside the gate, we were very pleasantly surprised, being transported to the Alhambra, with its beautiful carved columns and long reflecting pool. Any trepidation was quickly dispelled, with the wonderful welcome we received from the Resident Manager, Anas, who welcomed us like we were old friends. We realised on arrival, that we had left some personal items at the last hotel and Anas dealt with it immediately with charm, telling us not to worry, he would arrange for his driver to pick up the belongings from the other hotel and bring them to us. What a great start, we were very impressed at his efficiency and kindness. Real, genuine customer service. He then showed us around the hotel with so much pride and enthusiasm. He knew where each door, piece of furniture etc. had been sourced and his tour of the hotel was really interesting and informative. Our room was lovely and full of character with Moroccan charm with floor cushions and a low table with nibbles and a welcome drink. The roof terrace with plunge pool, was a real bonus with a bed with a canopy to relax, as the sun went down. The view from the room of the palm trees was really beautiful. The complimentary soft drinks were very welcome in the mini bar and a nice touch. We went to the pool and relaxed and could not believe how tranquil and calm, the well maintained gardens were. It was a real oasis, so close to town but it felt as if we were miles away. The Royal Mansour had failed to find the lost items but the Concierge Youssef, continued to deal with them and finally we were reunited with our belongings. He also liaised with our former hotel to arrange our fast track for the journey home. We needed to leave very early before breakfast but he kindly organised for us to have tea, coffee and some bread and cakes delivered at 6.15, which we thought very kind and also organised our pickup driver for seven. Youssef the concierge was a real character and promised to teach us Arabic if we returned, even having a crash course with him, whilst paying our bill. He was a breath of fresh air and it is a shame we had such a short visit, as I am sure he could have made our trip extra special with more of his input. Every hotel needs a concierge like Youssef! After dark, the gardens were transformed with candles everywhere for dinner. It was so romantic. Each guest had a different area of the garden with a table set up, giving privacy, whilst keeping a beautiful, buzzy ambience, which very few hotels can create. We loved the laughter of the many French guests, tinkling through the garden, thoroughly enjoying themselves with the fine food and wine. It didn’t have a hotel feel at all, it was like being at a special, private party, superb! The Food and Beverage Manager, Simo was very professional and lovely and did a fantastic job of looking after all his guests. Service was excellent and the dinner, the best we had eaten in Marrakech. Considering we had stayed in very high standard hotels, including Richard Branson’s Kasbah Tamadot and La Mamounia, we can honestly say that the dinner at this hotel was the best by far. It was an extremely impressive meal, produced by the very highly talented chef Aziz. We told the Manager to compliment the Chef and we thought it was lovely that he brought him out after dinner, to meet all the guests, so we could personally thank him. It was these little touches that make the hotel so very special. On returning to our room, we found petals and candles had been put in our room for our tenth wedding anniversary. It was really beautiful and such a lovely gesture. The gentleman who did this, Amine even used my red kimono and folded it to create a heart. Very creative. He was also there to deliver our breakfast and take our bags, what a great all rounder! Of all five hotels we visited, all giving us very different experiences, the Ksar Char Bagh was the one we felt most relaxed and at home in. We had a truly lovely time and would recommend it in a heart beat, it was just such a shame we had so little time there. We would happily return to our home from home.
