Reviews for Riad Kniza

Beautiful Riad

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We had a lovely stay at Riad Kniza. It is a calm oasis within the busy medina of Marrakech and we had a wonderful stay there. Every member of staff was very friendly and all offered perfect service for everything that we needed. Breakfast was very good and we ate in the restaurant on two evenings where we enjoyed delicious meals.

The heart and soul of Morocco…

Two friends and I in our 70s recently spent a week in the exotic, chaotic city of Marrakesh. It was my fourth visit and this time I selected this 17th century Riad because of its excellent location in the Medina and its reputation as a bastion of comfort and culture. Our experience succeeded expectations in every way! The concierge provided us with professional and knowledgeable guides, an excellent driver, and the perfect itinerary. The room was spacious and the food marvelous. The entire staff—bellmen, waiters, housekeepers, and the charming and elegant owner, Mohammed, embraced us as family rather than simply treating us as guests. It was this effort that truly made our experience unforgettable…

A highly satisfactory stay.

We chose Riad Kniza for a 9-night stay in Marrakech based on the recommendation of neighbors who had stayed previously. We were not disappointed. The Riad is beautiful, well appointed and in excellent condition. It is quiet. The staff was uniformly friendly, attentive and helpful. The room was comfortable, the shower good and the beds firm. Fresh fruit and water every day. Breakfast (which you could have in the restaurant, in your room or up on the terrace on the roof) was ample - an omelet, cereal and yoghurt, juice, coffee and tea, with four different kinds of bread each day. The terrace is extensive and, while there isn't much of a view (given that almost all of the buildings in this part of the Medina are at the same height) it was very pleasant, with lots of both open and covered seating. The location, close to Bab Doukkala, is good both for exploring the Medina and going out to the gardens, shopping areas and other sights in Gueliz and Hivernage. We found that when we wanted to walk to the southern areas of the Medina it was often easiest to go outside and walk along the walls, at least down to the Kutubiyya Mosque, rather than staying within the walled area. The only issue that we had was that the wi-fi was a bit sensitive; in our room we got good connections sitting on the sofa in the front of the room but not so good at the back of the room on the beds, and up on the terrace there were areas where the reception was very good and some where it wasn't. I suspect that getting wi-fi to maintain a strong signal throughout an extensive property like this with those solid walls is a challenge. There is a small, private museum located just across the street that is owned by the owner of the Riad. I suspect that he will show it to any of the guests but if you can get his grandson - Adam - to give you a tour you will find that an hour very wisely spent. Adam used the items on exhibit to give us a concise, thorough and informative introduction to Moroccan culture and history. It was more informative than anything that we encountered in the public museums we visited and we thank him again here for the time that he spent with us; we valued it highly. All-in-all, we were most pleased with our stay and have no hesitation at all in recommending this Riad to anyone visiting Marrakech.

We visited Marrakesh in September and stayed at the Riad Kniza, a recently renovated boutique hotel in the Medina with gorgeous examples of Moroccan architecture. Our two-story suite was furnished with exquisite antiques and beautiful Moroccan rugs. The staff at this family-owned and run establishment was attentive and caring. Our stay was characterized by an attention to detail that made our first visit to Morocco a memorable one and assured a return visit.

The Medina of Marrakesh is possibly the most alive place I have ever been (New York is a quiet garden compared to it). But the Riad Kniza and the great family that regents it is a wonderful oasis of peace, kindness and Moroccan style luxury. Their vocation to service was incredible! Go there, enjoy the red city and relax. I will come back.

Riad Kniza is a truly beautiful place in a fascinating city. The wonderful, personal service is second to none. The best stay we've ever had in Marrakech, and we've been many times. Absolutely first class in every sense.
