A Truly Once-in-a-Lifetime Safari Experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Our stay at Fairmont Masai Mara exceeded every expectation we had. We have been fortunate to travel extensively around the world, and I can honestly say this was one of the most memorable and flawlessly executed travel experiences our family has ever had. The attention to detail, exceptional service, beautiful accommodations, incredible dining, and unforgettable safari experiences came together to create memories we will cherish forever. The game drives were extraordinary, and much of that credit goes to our incredible safari guide, Dominic. His experience, patience, and instinct were remarkable. Thanks to him, we saw the Big Five within our first three days! He always seemed to know exactly where to be, when to wait, and how to position the vehicle for the best possible wildlife viewing and photography. Beyond the famous animals, he taught us to appreciate the birds, insects, and smaller wildlife that most visitors would easily overlook. His passion for conservation and his extensive knowledge of the ecosystem made every single game drive educational as well as exciting. Dining at the lodge was another unexpected highlight. Symon, our primary dining server, provided some of the best hospitality we’ve ever experienced. Traveling with two picky eaters can be challenging, yet he and the culinary team never hesitated to accommodate special requests. Whether it was modifying meals or bringing my daughter a large bowl of nothing but broccoli rabe because that’s what she wanted that evening, everything was handled with a smile. Their commitment to making every guest happy was evident. The food itself deserves special recognition. The chef’s use of vegetables and herbs grown in the resort’s own garden elevates every meal. The freshness, creativity, and quality were outstanding. Of all the places we’ve traveled, this ranks among the finest dining experiences we’ve had at any resort. Our tent attendant, Trimlet, made our luxurious safari tent truly feel like a home away from home. Everything was always spotless, beautifully organized, and thoughtfully prepared. We especially appreciated the little touches, like warming our beds with hot water bottles in the evenings and having tea prepared after returning from game drives. On our final day, he insisted on cleaning all four pairs of our dusty safari shoes before we left. After days in the Mara, they were absolutely spotless. It was such a thoughtful gesture that perfectly reflected the pride he takes in his work. Brian, the manager, orchestrated everything seamlessly. His communication was excellent from beginning to end, and he checked in with us daily to ensure every aspect of our stay exceeded expectations. Whether it was arranging our hot air balloon safari, private dining experience, or unforgettable bush breakfast, every detail was handled flawlessly. What impressed us most was how every member of the Fairmont team worked together to create something truly special. Hospitality at this level doesn’t happen by accident—it takes dedication, teamwork, and genuine care for guests. Every person we encountered embodied those qualities. Thank you to Dominic, Symon, Trimlet, Brian, the chef, and the entire Fairmont Masai Mara team for giving our family an unforgettable experience. You didn’t just provide a vacation—you created lifelong memories. We cannot recommend Fairmont Masai Mara highly enough and sincerely hope to return one day.

Luxury in the Mara

I grew up in Kenya, but this was the first time that my daughter visited Kenya and had the opportunity to go on a Safari. The Fairmont has set the standard incredibly high from the welcoming song to our final hugs farewell, the staff were attentive and very friendly. Everyone was serving with a genuine smile. Wallace welcomed us with the luxury touch of having a warm or cool towel to greet us after a safari ride was so pleasant. The food was delicious and so fresh. Through three meals every day, we really got to know Shico and she was such a delight. Wilson was a wonderful driver as we saw two male lions lapping up water; three female lions sleeping; we saw a mama eland with the legs of the newborn coming out; a cheetah trying to capture an impala. Of course we saw elephants, zebra, dikdik, jackals, warthogs, grant gazelles, giraffes, hippos, and white rhinos. Trimlett spoiled us as he turned down the bed everynight. He added little elegant touches like putting a fresh flower on our pillow. I hope to be back soon.

Glamping with Wildlife

What an amazing place to go and see Maasai Mara. From hippos to hyraxes, the hotel is very well situated for seeing all that Maasai Mara has to offer. The accommodations were lovely, and also felt authentic and connected to nature. All of the amenities were superb as well. Having said all of that, what really stood out to me was the people. The staff members were all so friendly, warm and welcoming… they made sure that I had anything and everything I could possibly need to feel comfortable and at home. This may have been my first visit to Fairmont Mara, but definitely won’t be my last.

Amazing Place

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I stayed at Fairmont Mara Safari Club for 2 nights (26-28 May). First, I have to thank our GREAT tour guide, Dominic who accompanied us during the whole journey. Dominic is quite devoted, sincere, knowledgeable, active, punctual, and cheerful. He was quite perseverant until he found 2 lions to show us at the last minute (I would even say the last second or the extra-time or +90 in football language) of our trip. He was game driving even on the way to the plane returning to Nairobi! Staff of Fairmont was also great: Wallace, William, Caleb, Patrick, etc.. (apologies for not remembering all the names). The tents are a perfect accommodation in the middle of the forest. Very clean and comfortable. The reason I am not rating 5 is that there is absolutely no internet connection except in the reception area which is quite restricting. One advice: visiting the village was not a nice experience!
