Palazzo Gattini Luxury Hotel

We stayed one night at Palazzo Gattini, and overall it was a memorable experience. The hotel’s location is exceptional, right in the heart of Matera, making it the perfect base for exploring the Sassi. We parked at the designated lot and were picked up by the hotel’s shuttle service. The shuttle cost €30, which we knew about in advance and were happy to pay. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning. We stayed in Suite 104, which we were told has hosted guests such as Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman. The suite is beautiful, spacious, and truly unique. Unfortunately, we experienced a few issues that we wouldn’t expect from a Leading Hotel of the World. About 30 minutes before arriving at the parking lot, we tried calling the hotel to arrange the shuttle, but it took about eight calls before someone answered. Later, we discovered our room safe wasn’t working. After calling reception about six times with no answer, my husband had to go to the lobby to ask for assistance. A staff member eventually came to the room, but the problem couldn’t be resolved because the safe was new and no one seemed to know how it worked. As frequent travellers, we’ve never encountered this issue before. Another concern was housekeeping. The housekeeper asked if she could clean our room while we were still inside, which we agreed to while waiting for someone to check the safe. However, I was surprised to see our coffee cups being washed in the bathroom sink, which wasn’t something I expected at a hotel of this calibre. One of the highlights of our stay was enjoying drinks on the rooftop terrace. The view overlooking the Sassi was absolutely breathtaking and worth experiencing. Overall, despite a few service shortcomings, Palazzo Gattini is a beautiful property in an unbeatable location. With better staffing at reception and a little more attention to detail, it would truly live up to its luxury reputation. .

Exceptional experience the service was five star all way round - the facilities and accommodation are top notch, great location, superb food and breakfast, lovely rooftop for drinks and sunset, knowledgeable staff and five star service highly recommended and well priced for all that is offered

Stopped here for some drinks before going out for dinner great service and views really worth a visit even though a little pricey especially with great views

My wife and I spent a few days at Palazzo Gattini and had a lovely time. The hotel is beautiful, full of character, and perfectly located to enjoy Matera. What I appreciated most was the warm welcome from the staff, who made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Sitting on the terrace in the evening and looking over the city was a real pleasure. A memorable stay that I will keep in my heart.

We had an excellent stay at this hotel. We stayed in a room with a terrace and jucuzzi and although the jacuzzi didnt work it didnt take away from the wonderful terrace and view. The staff were lovely and very accommodating. The roof top terrace and bar staff were great and breakfast was delicious with a great selection. We had an amazing stay in Matera. Not to be missed if you are in this area
