Can’t wait to return

This hotel is steeped in history. Built in the 15th century and in the family until the early 1900’s. Went into disrepair until a man purchased and did a remodel that is STUNNING. The staff were amazing. They were so friendly and helpful. Location, location, location. Couldn’t ask for better. Their rooftop bar had a commanding view of the Sassi and old town. Breakfast was very good as well!!

What a fantastic hotel made more fabulous by the staff. Nico from the restaurant was fantastic, I over did it walking round the town post knee op, and he sorted it out, couldn’t have asked for anymore thank you again. Location is perfect to explore the city, be prepared for all the steps!

Amazing location, service, friendly staff and unique experience. We would definitely visit again. By coincidence we stayed during the Madonna dela Bruna celebration which made our stay even more exceptional! The rooms were clean, large unique with luxurious attendance.

fantastic

This hotel far exceeded expectations. Our suite was 304; it was large, beautiful, with a balcony overlooking the caves/ravine and a huge soaking tub. The staff were so helpful and friendly, and the food at breakfast and dinner delicious. They gave us recommendations for other restaurants which were also great. It is in a wonderful location within the old town (no cars), but they have a parking area about 20min outside the city and send a van for pickup. We would highly recomment Matera - it is a very interesting, walkable (slippery cobbles in the rain), historic town and there is a nice hike down to the ravine and up to the caves. We had a guide for the town - arranged through the information center; she was very knowledgable, helpful and fluent. The town is much less touristy than other places in Puglia; I'm glad we spent three nights there.
