I hate writing this review because I had such high hopes for this place. We booked the Coopers Hawk tree house which was just a house on stilts in the trees. It was rustic, bugs everywhere, mildew covering the wood in the shower, had dead plants and leaves everywhere. It was no where close to a 5 star stay especially for the fortune we paid for it. If it were $300 this would have been a 5 star review as the view was gorgeous. The chairs and deck were covered in leaves. I know it's fall and leaves will fall, but the deck had not been swept. The main lodge and golf course was beautiful, but far from the "tree" house. The gym was just average at best with only 1 treadmill. We were not allowed to use the showers in the spa to shower off after being in the pool. That is not 5 star treatment. Elements restaurant was very good for dinner after they finally opened up a spot for us. I had to complain because they were booked up and I couldn't believe people who were staying in the resort didn't get priority. The service in elements was fantastic! The 19th pub food was not good and took forever. The staff at the resort were very nice. Maybe staying in the actual lodge is a more 5 star experience. Don't waste your money on a stay here. Maybe come for the day to play golf then leave. Save your money.

On our way back to Florida after Irma....we stayed here and played golf...ate at the Chef's Table and rested comfortably. We stayed in the Lodge in a huge room with mountain views as well as the incredible golf course. We have played some great courses before but this one was AMAZING. Overlooking picture-worthy vistas...teeing off over precipices one in front or back of us. Luxurious and challenging. The food was superior. Chef's table was prepared by a great team led by Chef Robert....each course reminded me how I want to cook and create great food for my guests. Robert told us everything we wanted to know about each of the 7 courses from roasted carrot salad to the Wagu beef.....then the chocolate and Macaron dessert..... The rooms were large and comfortable...2 full fabulous baths and a wet bar with refrigerator and wine cooler. It takes awhile to climb up the hills with twists and turns but it's well worth it! We will return....

We stayed in one of the Pinnacle Cottages- incredible views of the gorge, and a short 5 minute walk to the Lodge. If not staying in the Lodge, I highly recommend the Pinnacle cottages, since it's so easy to go to and from the Lodge for dining (delicious!), stargazing, the pool and Spa, golf, special events and more. The Outdoor Activities Center, a short drive from our stay at the top of the mountain, offered so many fun activities. Horseback riding, ATV tours, and clay shooting were our selections, and did not disappoint. We will definitely return to Primland in the future.

My spouse and I went to Primland for a few days after our wedding for a "mini moon" and had the most wonderful time. We chose Primland for its beautiful location, luxurious accommodations, and outdoors activities - and it delivered on all of these promises and more! We stayed in the Pinnacle Cottage area in a Cedar Bluff Room, and it was possibly the most beautiful hotel room I've ever stayed in. There was a stunning view of the Dan River Gorge from the picture window, as well as from our private balcony. There was also a great view from the tub! (Don't worry, all of the bathroom windows are engineered for total privacy, but still offer great views and natural light!) The room came with a mini fridge and small desk area, as well as two lounge chairs and a giant comfortable bed. (Be sure to select your pillow preference, there are so many choices!) The food was delicious at every turn. Elements offers breakfast buffet, and then 19th Hole is great for lunch or a casual dinner. Elements is the fancier option for dinner, and it was worth the price. The meal was relaxing and the service was top-notch. Try the elk and venison duo! Our favorite part of the resort was the activities. We went for a horseback trail ride with Michelle and had so much fun. Then, we went clay shooting with Steve which was a ton of fun too. Steve was so patient and taught us all about the guns we were using and most importantly kept us safe. We also went hiking (there are tons of trails!) and took the observatory tour at night. BEAUTIFUL! Primland has one of the largest private telescopes on the East Coast and we saw stars, constellations, and galaxies in the clear sky. We also visited the spa, which has native american influences and provides relaxing and indulgent services. There is so much to do at Primland, you would be hard-pressed to do it all! We would recommend Primland to any traveler, especially if you enjoy the outdoors but also like the amenities of a luxury resort.

We spent 4 nights at Primland staying in Coopers Hawk Tree House. The resort provides the use of a complimentary SUV to travel to and from the lodge or you can use the complimentary shuttle service. The Tree House with its expansive furnished deck was very private and had absolutely stunning and breath taking scenery of the Kibler Valley, mountains, and Pinnacles of Dan. The suite was spacious and well appointed in an upscale rustic style. Breakfast (In Room Dining) served on our deck was so delightful enjoying the beautiful blue skies and great view- food arrived at the requested time and was hot and delicious! The golf course sits on top of the mountain and has spectacular views along with holes and greens that will challenge even the best golfer. Dinner on the outdoor terrace at the Lodge or in the Pub was casual. Service was efficient and portions plentiful- if you choose you can order from the Elements menu in place of the Pub menu. Regardless of which menu you choose, food was well prepared and delicious. We look forward to a return visit to this hidden gem in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
