Reviews for Grand Hyatt Melbourne
The hotel and it’s facilities were great. We arrived late on Thursday night just in time for a quick bite and drinks at the restaurant. Breakfast was a little slow to replenish items like the small bowl of bircher muslei amd one chef on the egg station. The quality of the food was great though.

Stayed here for 3 nights on business as it’s in an excellent condition, near big corporate offices as well as the theatre district plus loads of great restaurants. That’s where the positives end in my experience unfortunately. - Small, shoe box rooms which overlook right into someone else’s office. I asked at the front desk if it were possible to move rooms on my 2nd or 3rd night but was dismissed immediately and reminded (rather rudely, I found) “what do you expect for a city hotel!?” - Room walls are very thin as I heard everything from my neighbours. - I question the last time the area under the bed or deep at the back of the robe closet were thoroughly cleaned.... - Pool is part of a larger, public gym area. So expect crowded. Not in any size for doing laps unlike the Park Hyatt. Likewise, the gym, while large, is busy as the hotel tries to sell as many memberships as possible to the public. - Public spaces are dark, again in contrast to the high ceilings and marble of their sister hotel, Park Hyatt - Bell staff position themselves on the lower floor only, despite there being two main entrances. I arrived via Collins Street and no one was there to assist. I departed from Russell Street with heavy suitcases yet no staff member volunteered to assist either. I tried after the first night to request to speak to a duty manager or the hotel’s PR manager, however (and this is what I found most surprising) the front desk associate told me the hotel is still in the process of hiring someone to deal with guest complaints. I read other TripAdvisor reviews and there’s a PR manager responding to them? After having stayed extensively across the Hyatt chain, I’d rate this as a Hyatt Place or at best a Hyatt Regency given its view to churn through the numbers. Across my stay, I think I was greeted once by a staff member. This is an old hotel, built over 30 years ago. I can see they’ve tried to patch it up and make it look up to scratch but I still think a lot more is needed... I’d welcome the opportunity to discuss my experience further with the hotel. As noted above, I tried to speak to a hotel staff member during my stay but was rejected.
Top shelf service and experience. Lived up to their “Grand” stature in every way. Room was excellent and easy to access all services. Breakfast was fantastic with great service as well. Best conference hotel I’ve attended in Melbourne.

This hotel is the best location in Melbourne. This is a first rate hotel in a very nice city. You won't be disappointed staying here! My only gripe was with the TV channels where you couldn't watch CNBC. I found this odd given the proximity to the financial district.

The staff at Park Hyatt Sydney told us: "You'll love Grand Hyatt Melbourne", and we did. Nadia was exceptional in checkin and checkout and we have kept in touch since. She made us feel special as Globalist members. The highlight of our excellent buffet breakfasts in Collins Kitchen was Cale, who not only made us pancakes but engaged us as a conversationalist. We were so impressed by his social skills, his maturity, his hospitality/professionalism. He even brought us lemons from his home garden to take with us. We have become lasting friends. The Club Lounge in the evening (jumbo prawns and oysters on the half shell!) was excellent. Mona printed out our theatre tickets , and changed some money for us. Patty was especially welcoming at every meal. James was very helpful. Our upgraded Club level corner room was panoramic. Location was walking distance convenient to everything: NGV museums, Regent Theatre, Chinatown, laneway street art, shopping, Flanders Lane/Station, Southbank...
